My spouse and I were so looking forward to this stay in Virginia for part of our honeymoon. But, this stay definitely changed the trajectory of our trip. We looked at the reviews and only saw positive reviews, so we were shocked that our experience was the opposite!
There is no warning about the driveway, which has horrible switchbacks and is near-impossible to drive safely in a truck.
As soon as we walked in, we were greeted with a mildewy/stale smell. As we walked throughout we noticed cobwebs in the corners and ants everywhere (which later got into our food in the kitchen).
During our trip the WIFI and power went out (there was already no service), so we had no way of contacting anyone, not even the host. When the power went out, the power thankfully came right back on, but Wi-Fi did not (Wi-Fi-enabled messaging was the only form of communication accessible).
The AC did not work, which was very unpleasant in July. On our last day, we noticed fuzzy mold under the bed.
Overall it was a very disappointing and uncomfortable stay. The enjoyment we did have was down at the river below the property. It was nice how tucked away the place was, but the aforementioned aspects really tainted our stay.
