Bathmans Cottage - Newly refurbished Matlock house on edge of the Peak District

Historic two bedroom cottage, in the heart of the market Town of Matlock right on the edge of the Peak District National Park. The cottage is newly renovated to a modern, high standard whilst maintaining its historic charm originally built and used by Smedley Hydros as a Hydropathic Centre. The cottage comes with everything you could need for a relaxing stay in this beautiful town. We also have one parking space available for you to use, right outside the property.

Outdoor, enclosed seating area to the front which has sun all day in summer, with entrance to large hallway.
Large living area with modern electric fire, Smart TV with full Sky Q package, Fibre Broadband (WIFI), PS4 and games. Including luxurious sofas
Large kitchen / diner with all amenities required including: double fridge freezer, gas hob and oven, microwave, dishwasher and all the utensils/crockery to enjoy a comfortable stay. Washing machine and combined tumble dryer.

Rear communal patio

1st Floor
Large landing space which opens to two bedrooms and the main bathroom.
Master - Super King Size bed with en suite bathroom.
Bed 2 - Can be used as a twin bedroom or super king if required. Main bathroom just outside including separate free standing bath.

There is central heating throughout (hive connected), combi boiler for as much hot water as needed and WI-FI throughout.

The town of Matlock offers numerous pubs, shops and bakeries all within a 10 minute walk and is serviced by a regular bus and good transport links from Sheffield, Chesterfield & Derby. Plenty of things to do to keep all members of the family happy

If you’re a keen walker this would be the perfect home from home after a busy day exploring the many trails and peaks in the area. We are also dog friendly so you’re welcome to bring your four legged friend along with you.

Beautifully decorated cottage with everything that you would need for a comfortable stay. Location ideal for visiting local places of interest, walking trails, restaurants and bars. Can't fault it  .

The house was fantastic, well kept and clean. It was spacious for my family of 4. The location is quiet and within a walking distance from the main street. It is better to rent a car of course, and there is a private parking. The owner is very responsive and it was a wonderful stay.

Beautiful clean excellently equipped house in Matlock. Great parking, exceptionally clean. Large and spacious with an amazing kitchen and beautiful bathrooms. Lots of hot water. Great communication. Only downside for us as seniors was the very hilly area. We love to walk but the high location of this lovely home meant we preferred to drive, and therefore park, to visit the town. Beautiful house. Thanks

Fantastic stay here. The property was immaculate, time had really been spent making sure that the property was clean. There is everything in the house that you could possibly need for your stay. We loved it that there was a television in both of the bedrooms as well as the lounge. Highly recommend.

Lovely Cottage with all the amenities you would want . Location is good near the town centre up quite a steep hill but we are in our seventies and managed it without a problem and found it good exercise. We had no real complaints and would highly recommend.

We found the cottage very comfortable with good quality furnishing, decor and well equipped. The cottage was spotless. It was situated up a very long and steep hill so the walk in and out of town would depend upon your level of fitness, I would estimate it as being about 0.5 mile. Good drinking pubs close by, we did not try the eating pubs close to the cottage but went down to the town. Good sandwich bar 50yds away (also does bacon rolls). Great to have own off street parking space. Would stay in the cottage again if going to Matlock and highly recommend it.

Had a wonderful stay at Bathmans with our 18month old son. The quality of the furnishing and decor was far better than the pictures showed, felt genuinely luxurious. Location wise be aware it is on the top of the hill so a walk into town is quite taxing on the way back! But you can’t argue it’s brilliantly located for easy access to town (and lots of town centre parking of an evening) and for accessing other key places it’s brilliant. A short drive to Bakewell, Chatsworth etc. Access is down some very steep steps at the back so not good for those with mobility issues, but interior is lovely. Fair warning to anyone arriving on a Sunday who doesn’t know the area - there were virtually no places serving food (non of the local pubs etc) and lots of restaurants shut too. Overall a perfect little holiday and we’d love to come back again.

The Bathmans Cottage in Matlock is one of the most comfortable rentals I have stayed in. Everything is like new. Extremely clean throughout and finished to a very high standard. Very well equipped kitchen and stunning bathroom & ensuite too. Beds were very comfortable and got a great nights sleep, very quite neighbourhood. My wife's only fault is there were no mirrors in the bedrooms for drying hair etc, had to use the big mirror downstairs in the hall. We have a Ukrainian lady staying with us just now and she came with us also. She was amazed by the cottages standard. Matlock is situated on a hillside and Bathmans is nearer the top so it is a challenging walk up the hill from the town centre if you leave the car. Over all it was a wonderful stay and would highly recommend. The photos on the website don't do it justice.

Dan was very quick to respond to queries. The cottage is exactly as described. I would recommend it highly. It is furnished to a very high standard and has everything you need for a comfortable stay. Great location for walks, surrounding areas and town. Would recommend Thailand number 1 and Butterfingers.

Excellent find amongst the slightly faded Peak District accommodation choices. Whilst I like character, I still want style. Bathmans cottage has both. It met my demanding requirements including two separate modern luxury bathrooms. It is really is an excellent property, 10 minutes walk to Matlock town centre. Thought and quality is everywhere, beautiful fixtures and fittings with added luxury of heated floors where you need them. Even a glow in the dark bedside mat to aid locating your glass of water when it’s pitch black. More than fully equipped including more USB ports than the apple store👏🏾 - definite thumbs up. Spotify another thumbs up. Honestly you will not be disappointed. The cottage is a 5* plus.

Beautiful property which was very well finished. Super comfy beds and sofas, great showers and all appliances. Daniel was quick to respond and helpful throughout. Some comments in reviews about parking, I found this perfect and easy to navigate (and I have a pretty big Estate car). Really recommended property for exploring Matlock. Yes there are hills but it is the Peak district!

Would 100% go back! Brilliant for people and dogs. Loved all the little touches for pooches like poo bags, dog bed, treats etc. Everything was incredibly clean and the cottage had everything you could want - and more! Will be recommending this place to everyone.
