Slice of Heaven
WOW!! The Chubby Frog and its owners did not disappoint. The house is absolutely adorable, clean, and stocked full of everything you could need. The property is an absolute dream. We loved hiking the private trails and waterfalls—you have your own private oasis to explore with not another soul in sight but then you’re also so close to all the amazing Hocking Hills trails. We stayed with my parents and two small kids and the activities and things to do were endless. We also loved just hanging at the house, playing games, sitting by the bonfire, and enjoying the hot tub. We did not want to leave, but left feeling more relaxed and recharged than ever! Vicki and Steve are the hosts with the most and were so helpful and amazing. We are definitely coming back and recommending the Chubby Frog to our friends and family (although we’re tempted to keep it our little secret slice of heaven!)

Quick Spring Break Trip
The cabin was very clean and well-kept. There was lots of wildlife that could be observed from inside the cabin and on the deck. The hosts are very thoughtful in having the cabin stocked with lots of necessities. It is also located close to Hocking Hills. We made multiple trips there during our stay.

Fantastic Property
We were overwhelmed with the hosts attention to detail, and their communication with us through the whole process. The property was beautifully clean and well stocked with unexpected items such as a full drinks fridge. Next time we go back to Hocking Hills as a family, we will be coming back to this property..

We had a wonderful stay at this property. It was clean and welcoming. The Vicki was a wonderful host and very easy to reach. The cabin was well stocked, they thought of everything a guest could need. Unfortunately the weather wasn’t super great while we were there but the amenities in the cabin made staying inside just as fun. We will stay here again!

We were blown away with this cabin. Not only was it well stocked, but the atmosphere and the design were amazing. The property is beautiful and lots of wildlife around. So clean and tranquil. This place is a must to rent. In fact, we definitely will be coming back next year! The hot tub is a plus also!!

Great secluded cabin
We loved our stay at chubby frog. We have stayed at a lot of VRBOs, and this was by far the best stocked cabin- tons of snacks, drinks- where we truly felt like a guest with all the little touches! The cabin was extremely clean, including the hot tub. We loved the location- and the private hiking trails were great! Perfect cabin if you are looking for central location to explore Hocking hills, but to come back to seclusion in the woods after. The host was very accessible and easy to communicate with.

Beautiful scenery
Our group enjoyed our stay at chubby frog. It was a great get away weekend. The private trail winds through amazing scenery away from the bustle of Hocking Hills main trails. I have already recommended the chubby frog to others if their group needs a break in Ohio.

Lovely Property in a Great Location
Chubby Frog cabin is tastefully updated, super clean, and all the modern amenities despite being in a secluded area in Hocking Hills. Vicky, the owner, is very friendly and easy to contact. The property is close to Hocking Hills State Park. Enjoyed sitting in the hot tub while hummingbirds zoomed by! Followed the owners directions, and markers through the nature preserve to a small waterfall, rock formation nearby. Felt adventurous! Thanks for a Wonderful Trip!

Amazing property!!
Vicki and Steve thought of everything!! The cabin was amazing! Everything very clean and nice! All the extra snacks was a nice touch. The fire pit was also ready to go for us and plenty of firewood, starter bricks for additional fires, and the S'Mores kit was great! Communication with owners was great! Can't wait to go back! Very peaceful and quiet, we never left the whole time we were there.

Time away
My husband and I, along with our adult children, were looking for some quality family time. We found that and more at the Chubby Frog! In fact we felt like family from the moment we walked in. Vicki and Steve have the most hospitality of any owners we’ve ever dealt with! All the treats they left for us at the cabin were above and beyond anything we’ve ever experienced. Communicating with them was quick, helpful, and very friendly! Hiking on the property was our favorite. No crowds to deal with and beautiful nature all around. We loved leaving corn out for the critters. The squirrels and raccoons were beyond entertaining. We even saw the biggest turkey of our lives crossing the property! :) With games to play and the hot tub to enjoy, there was plenty to keep us entertained even during the rain. Thanks again Vicki and Steve for a wonderful cabin and for helping us create new family memories.

A magical place!!

Great Getaway
This is our favorite cabin to stay in Hocking Hills. Vicki and Steve do a great job of maintaining the property and have it very well stocked! We love how secluded the property is but still has all the necessities of the city - wifi, TV’s, etc. The 2 story back deck is wonderful and provides a beautiful view of the pond, beautiful trees filled with birds and other wildlife. We enjoyed the hot tub and downstairs game room. The kitchen was well equipped and the cabin comfortably accommodated our party of 6. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. It was the peaceful getaway we all needed and we can’t wait to come back!

Comfortable private cabin
We had a wonderful stay in this comfortable cabin! The land is quiet and private, with beautiful views from the large windows and deck. The cabin was clean and fully loaded with more amenities than we are used to compared to other cabins in the area. We loved that each bedroom had its own bathroom so that separate families could have their own private spaces while staying with a group. Check in and out were very easy. We would love to go back someday!

Wonderful getaway!
My husband and 2 children had a wonderful weekend at the Chubby Frog. The surroundings are wonderful for hiking and exploring. It’s great to be able to hike right out of the back door. The owner Vicki was great! She was very informative and helpful, quick to respond. The house was stocked with everything we needed: games, snacks, drinks, blankets. Just wonderful!

Hocking Hills Weekend
The property was even nicer than we had pictured, super private and secluded which made for a great time. It was also so thoughtful of the owners to stock the cabin with food and essentials so that we didn't have to think about them and just relax. They thought of everything!
Great location, very quiet and secluded. They had a fire already built in the fire pit, ready to light. The hot tub was very clean and everything worked. They also had a small fridge next to the big TV stocked with a couple of my favorite beers! Snacks were provided in the kitchen along with many other food items. We all enjoyed our stay and would recommend the Chubby Frog cabin to anyone!

Relaxing vacation with the kiddos
This is our second stay at Chubby Frog, and we had a great time. We went on daily hikes around the area and enjoyed relaxing in the hot tub in the evenings. We hiked down into Bison Hollow this time, both from the house and by driving to its parking lot. We had some questions about where exactly to go once you arrive there, and the host responded quickly with helpful instructions.

The best secluded hideaway in hocking hills
I have NEVER had such thoughtful hosts as I did at chubby frog cabin. The cabin and property are meticulously maintained and stocked with more than you could ever need. Snacks and kitchen gadgets aplenty. The private hiking on the property is on the same level as the popular tourist destinations. The cabin is very cozy and clean. There is no better feeling than coming back from a day of hiking to sit in the hot tub and soak those sore muscles. Making smores in the fire pit was a great way to relax after a long day in the woods. I won't stay anywhere else when I come back to continue exploring the beautiful wilderness in Hocking Hills. I rate this property 11/10.

Vicki and Steve have thought of everything when it comes to accommodating their guests! Between the beach towels for the hot tub, folding chairs for the campfire, full size shampoo and body wash, to the condiments, candy and snacks, whatever you might have forgotten at home, there is a good chance they have it! We especially enjoyed the secluded hike into Bison's Hollow! We had the entire waterfall to ourselves! I enjoy replenishing the food to feed the wildlife and then watching videos on the critter cam! And being able to do laundry so we take home clean clothes! The owners are incredibly responsive and keep a beautiful home!

Very happy guests
One of the reasons we chose to stay at the Chubby Frog is because of the great reviews, and they were spot on. This house is very clean and very well maintained, really just very comfortable and homey. Vicki is very responsive and was the first to initiate contact with me before our trip. She was very helpful and honestly probably the best host we have ever stayed with. Cupboards were stocked with snacks, spices, condiments, soap, toilet paper and papertowels. The location was great, beautiful scenery with hiking on the nature preserve and a winery both just down the road. 20 minute drive to Campbell's Market for groceries and if you come you HAVE to check out Jack Pine glass studio in Laurelville! Everyone in my group was happy and we all agreed we will come again! Thank you Vicki and Steve!

Second Honeymoon
The Chubby Frog Cabin and surrounding property are an excellent place to relax, hike, and enjoy nature in seclusion. We loved how remote the location is but it is also easy to get to. Vicki provided directions and I took screen shots on my phone due to advance warning of spotty cell phone service. We used the Waze app as suggested by Vicki and we had no problems finding the cabin. We drove a small sports car and had no problem getting to the property. We really enjoyed the peaceful sounds of nature and relaxing without any responsibilities. We recently had our 35th anniversary and this was our first trip just the two of us since our honeymoon. We also saw a lot of wildlife coming to the feeding areas. The cabin was well stocked with almost anything you could want. There was even a smores making kit in the refrigerator. We did some private hikes to the adjacent preserve and searched for the three falls. We found two of the falls, but will try to come back and search for the third another time. We really enjoyed our stay and my husband said this is his favorite vacation! After we left we went to Hocking Hills State Park and saw some of the neat caves and waterfalls but the park was pretty crowded. We had been spoiled by having a private area to hike. We only left the cabin once during our stay and drove to Nelsonville to the Rocky Outdoor Gear store. The Starbrick BBQ is located inside the store and I highly recommend the "Hot Mess" lunch. We will definitely come back for another, longer stay at the Chubby Frog!

Relaxing and Peaceful at the Chubby Frog
If you’re looking for a getaway that’s private and secluded but also within 20-30 minutes of state parks and other attractions, the Chubby Frog is it. You don’t need to leave the vicinity of the property with the exception of stocking up on food initially. The cabin is clean and came stocked with treats. The owners are responsive (some minor issues came up) and courteous. Trail leading to a great sunset view is underrated! One of the highlights. Felt at home the second we pulled in. Will be remembered fondly as a great week of relaxation in the forest.

Summer 2022 Hocking Visit

You really don’t need to bring anything except your meals. We don’t have babies anymore, but they even had a full-size crib. The property is amazing. It’s so peaceful and you will see lots of wildlife. I would absolutely stay here again. My daughter said I should also mention that they have a remote control helicopter. Haha. Book this cabin now! Just do it. Trust me - we just had an amazing stay!
We had an amazing week at the Chubby Frog cabin! A huge bowl of Hostess/Little Debbie treats greeted us as soon as we walked in the front door!! The owners had thought of everything we could possibly need and more! We really enjoyed getting to see all of the wildlife on a daily basis, and you can't beat the proximity to Ash Cave, Old Man's Cave, Conkle's Hollow, and Cedar Falls! This place is a little slice of heaven!

Beautiful countryside home
Everything went very smooth. I picked the code for the door so it was something I would remember. The house was nice and clean. There were lots of notes to let us know where things were. The porches were very nice to enjoy morning coffee. Hottub was a nice added bonus for us in the evening. The house had everything we needed and more. I loved that there were lots of games for us to play. The house also had some drinks and other items that were left by previous guest which was nice. Saved us time and money when we bought things for lunches. I would recommend this house to anyone that loves relaxing and having a great time.

Chubby Frog Cabin
If you like wildlife and getting away from the city this is your place. We saw deer, turkey, raccoons, squirrels, and all kind of birds. We hiked and ziplined and thoroughly enjoyed the hot tub at the end of the day. Steve and Vicki have anticipated your needs to make your stay a great one. The cabin is great, and has something for all ages.

Privacy and Wildlife Indeed
My wife and I took a mid-June getaway at this property during the first 2022 heat wave and the A/C worked superbly. We are in our mid-30s and active. The cabin itself was exceptionally clean, well stocked with snacks and drinks which was a pleasant surprise. It has a nice-sized kitchen and large main floor room and would be well-appointed for groups up to 6 comfortably. The hosts placed corn and birdseed around which drew the wildlife in. If you enjoy birdwatching, or don't get much in the way of wildlife where you live, this cabin will provide you with ample opportunity to view it from the comfort of the double-level deck or through any of the large windows. We saw about a half dozen does, a turkey hen, and a wide variety of birds including cardinals, blue jays, finches, and more. I also noticed tracks for fox and coyote when walking around. The location is in fairly close proximity to the southern end of the Hocking Hills State Park and was a short drive from Ash Cave and Cedar Falls. The ability to take such a short drive to these locations was a plus. The combination of privacy, wildlife, and proximity to the parks was exactly as advertised. In terms of accessibility we found that the gravel and dirt trail/road back from the paved road to the property's gate could be problematic if you drive a car with low clearance. A 4WD truck or SUV would be my recommendation to traverse it in wet or snowy conditions as there were a number of spots where a regular car would have been unable to proceed. Most of the hiking on property is short in distance (up to the sunrise observation location) or in need of more significant clearing and markings. The on-property trails reminded us of scout camp trails with a moderate-to-significant level of difficulty. We did not use the off-property Bison Hollow trails that are available to guests as well. In summary, if you love birdwatching or want a quiet place to get away, this cabin is fantastic. The hosts provided everything needed for a very comfortable stay and more.

Home away from home
Vicki and Steve have the most beautiful cabin! We enjoyed our stay so much. Waking up and seeing the birds eating from the feeder was so nice! The hot tub was wonderful. The kids really loved having such an open space to play. My husband and I enjoyed the fire pit and hearing animals we don't get to hear in the city. The Chubby frog is a well loved cabin and we hope to return in the future. If you are looking for a place that brings you serenity and rest for you soul you will find it here!

Everything we wanted
The house had everything we wanted and more. The house has a wonderful wrap around two story deck that gets wonderful breezes and provides an overlook for the nearby woods. The house is full of big windows that provide a great view of the canopy of trees. The hosts have provided numerous bird feeders and there was a continuous stream of wildlife visiting the house. On the first day we scared some wild turkeys as we parked. We like to cook and the kitchen was very clean. The grill looked brand new. It was very nice to be on vacation with a dishwasher. We over packed food but the refrigerator was more than large enough for everything we brought. The provided snacks were a nice bonus. It poured down the first day we were there, but the house had more than enough activities to keep us entertained. There were activities for our kids, including crayons, coloring books, and bubbles. We brought a tote full of activities for the kiddos and didn't even need to open it. We hiked to Bison Hollow on the second day, and were glad we brought spare boots. The hiking trail was kind of overgrown and combined with the rain, our boots & pants were soaked even before we reached the streams. That said, we had a blast and it was nice to relax in the hot tub after a long hike. We are already trying to figure out when we can come back.

Wonderful cabin!
This beautiful cabin has everything you need for a wonderful vacation! It is close to hiking trails in Hocking Hills. The cabin was spotless and very well equipped-hot tub, fire pit, games, air hockey, snooker, well-equipped kitchen. Vicki is an amazing host. We saw wild turkeys, deer, chipmunks, squirrels and so many birds on the property. Highly recommend!
