Our experience at this hotel was extremely disappointing and unacceptable.
There was a serious incident in our room where visible smoke, accompanied by a strong burning odor, began coming from the fire detector on the ceiling. I recorded a video as proof and immediately contacted the front desk. Two staff members were sent to inspect the situation, but unfortunately, the smoke had temporarily stopped while they were present. Just minutes after they left, it began again.
As parents traveling with children, this was alarming and distressing. We did not feel safe remaining in the room. When I contacted the front desk again and requested to be moved, it was only after firmly insisting that arrangements were made to relocate us.
This occurred after midnight. We were forced to pack and unpack again in the middle of the night, disrupting our children’s sleep and our final nights of what was supposed to be a relaxing stay.
Due to the distress, inconvenience, and disruption caused, I requested a refund for the final two nights. Nelson assured us in person that this would be approved and specifically instructed us to contact Expedia so the hotel could process the refund through them. We followed his instructions immediately.
However, when Expedia contacted the hotel, the refund request was denied on the grounds that we had already received an “upgrade.”
