Overall, nice hotel. Location was close to groceries and restaurants so very convenient. The property itself was undergoing renovation on the pool area so the pool was unable to be used. Property seems on the older side so can see wear and tear throughout. Provide limited breakfast and had to purchase the breakfast items. Gym is available and was easy to access but only had basic and limited equipment. Room was big, clean, quiet, overall comfortable. Staff seems reduced at the time of visit so experienced some wait times for a front desk personnel to appear to assist. When assisted, staff was generally respectful and provided friendly service.

I booked the property for pool and hot tub only to find out after chdcking in that not only is the pool not functional, its under full renovation. There was no breakfast. Front desk clerk said "youre better off going down the road because all we have is whats in the cooler" and pointed to some yogurt which was available for a surcharge. Im sure its not reflective of all Sonesta locations but im a 1 and done. I spend alot on travel and its not worth sacrificing my comfort away from home. Wont be booking a Sonesta again.

Our pool has been closed for renovations since October and this is listed on Sonesta's website as well all third-party sites. I am sorry if this information was missed when you booked. You were not charged for you stay, your card was only authorized at check in and then released when you decided not to stay. This authorization can take up to ten business days to release back into your account depending on your bank.

Upon arrival when we ask about the pool, was told it was closed. signs on desk only mention the outdoor pool being closed and the noise that may cause. Was told it was too bad bc we already pre-paid. I did my own research and hotel viking has pool passes for $20 a day and so we went and used their pool since we had kids with us. Staff was unfriendly about this situation and did not offer any suggestion. the FIRST photo of this hotel is of a pool that does not exist

Our pool area has been closed for renovations since November and will not open again until April. This information is posted on Sonesta's website as well as all third-party websites since the closure. I am sorry this information was missed. You were offered at check in to cancel without penalty. The agent informed that you prepaid through Expedia and that they would have to process your refund. You spoke to your group and collectively decided to stay. You mentioned that you would check the pool at the Viking is why you were not offered an alternative solution. I hope you were able to enjoy your stay and hopefully you will return in the Spring and enjoy the new remodeled pool area.

Looks pretty new, but the building is over 30 years old. The hot tub (and pool) were closed for refurbishing. It would has been nice to know before hand; I was really looking forward to a nice relaxing hot tub. But it did not make the trip less worth it.

Please accept my apologies for the inconvenience. We had a large children's sports group in house with limited supervision from parents. In the future we will have a no tolerance policy and use local law enforcement to address these situations and avoid guest disruption. Again, our apologies for the groups poor behavior.

Not all information about the property was explained upon check-in. (ie. pool & gym location and hours, housekeeping services - or lack thereof!). I was there for a wedding, as were many other people, but they never asked me nor gave me the itenirary and transportation information, until I asked. Also, the hallways smelled horrible, clearly smoking of all kinds was taking place in the rooms, including ours which has a strange disinfectant smell. Finally, 2 large towels, 2 washcloths, and 1 hand towel, for two people for two days, with no housekeeping, is just being cheap and unacceptable!! Don't stay here!

This hotel was located in a great location with easy access to the Newport winery and other good restaurants in the area, however, the hotel itself seemed pretty out-dated and was not the cleanest. I paid extra for a balcony/patio room and was placed in a dirty room that had no balcony and was facing parking lot/fire hydrant. The bathroom had hair all over it and toilet was never cleaned. The bathroom sink was also completely cracked all over like it was smashed with something. The staff was very kind and accommodating to our needs and were able to place us in a cleaner and updated room with a balcony. The overall hotel setup inside was kind of confusing. The hotel only had one elevator and it was located on the total opposite side of the hotel lobby. Once bringing our luggage across the hotel on the first floor to the elevators, we then had to travel back across the hotel again to get to our room. We just used the stairs after bringing our belongings up to begin with. The pool and hot-tub were both open as well.
