This is an unusual and lovely light-filled garden flat. It’s unusual because unlike most garden flats, it’s not on the ground floor. Instead, it is on the first floor, and is part of the interior courtyard. As a result, it is quiet and private (it’s not shared by any other flat). The terrace is large enough for the generous table so there is plenty of room for eating outdoors... It’s lovely because the terrace is decorated with olive, pomegranate, and palm trees in handsome terracotta planters.
The flat is well-located in the Lazzaretto neighborhood. First, it is just two short blocks from a large and elegant park. There are plenty of places in the neighborhood to buy a picnic lunch to enjoy in the park. Second, while you can walk to many of the attractions in central Milan, there is a tram line that runs right outside the building where the flat is located, which makes for an enjoyable alternative for getting around. Milan’s trams run from very early morning until quite late at night, which might make you wonder whether you will hear the trams clacketing along the tracks when you’re in the flat. You won’t; the flat’s location on the inner courtyard makes it very quiet. Third, you will have an exceptional bakery/cafe right around the corner on Via Felice Casati (Pave). Fourth, the best gelato we had came from Sartori, a small stand located a short walk from the flat, outside the Centrale train station (if you’re approaching the station from the front, Sartori is located around the right hand side, almost at the back of the station).
Finally, Gaia, Anna, and Victor made the process of booking the flat and checking in and out exceptionally easy. I would happily stay here again.
