Great spot overlooking the lake
The communication with the owners, the location overlooking smith mountain lake, the restaurant recommendations and everything was very good. Small issue with WiFi not working the first few hours, but the owners replied and helped resolve that quickly, so it wasn’t a big deal. Overall would highly recommend. Thanks!

Thank you for the nice review! We are glad you enjoyed the new remodel of this condo. Everything has been replaced from top to bottom, new paint, new floors, new furniture, plus new patio. All of our condos at Bernards have been freshly painted and updated for the 2022 season.

Very peaceful location, nice view, great for reading and relaxing in the condo and on the patio. We were very disappointed with the amenities. It was advertised that tennis/pickleball courts could be accessed easily by a code - we were given the wrong code #, then after searching around to find someone working at the Clubhouse, because it was not open (he kindly gave us the correct code). The indoor pool and hot tub were filthy! The owners advertised they had tennis equipment so we did not bring our own, only to find out there were no tennis balls! There was not enough soap, shampoo or toilet paper and we ran out! Not enough hangers or warm blankets. The battery for the bathroom clock needed replacement, the Keurig coffeemaker did not have a filter. The water is not good for drinking. The grocery store is pretty far away, not much local shopping and many restaurants had closed for the fall/winter! On our last full day the neighbor was replacing their patio so it was very noisy. A disappointing Anniversary getaway to say the least.

Quick getaway
Wanted to stay overnight at the lake and came across this rental at the last minute at a great price! Everything was nice and clean! Beautiful views of the lake and mountains from the patio. Had a great dinner at the restaurant on site, Napoli by the Lake. The only thing I regret is not staying long enough! Lol. Would definitely rent again!

it was nice. There wasn't as many things open as listed on the description due to renovation of the store and restaurant but we had a great time. The view was beautiful and the condo was cozy and comfortable. Definitely would recommend it.

Our spring break stay:
The unit location is good. Bathroom shower is not clean, don’t have warm blanket for bed for winter, kitchen coffee toaster outlet is not working and toaster doesn’t work, we had to use floor outlet to make coffee. The information in their black book on the sofa table are out dated some information is from 2009. They listed indoor swimming pool is open but it is Not. It is good location good unit but definitely need some improvements. Thanks.

This place is great 4.5 Stars
First time traveling to Smith Mountain Lake and I really enjoyed it. This condo is great and the owner was awesome. Helpful, kind, and responsive. The condo is in excellent shape. The fireplace shower, and grill were a bit of a let down. Fireplace was electric ant gas or wood even. I mean with that view an electric is just not going to cut it. One of the main reasons I picked this place was because it had a fireplace but I guess I didn't read carefully. Shower was a bit narrow and had some mildew stains. Gas grill worked but one of the burners had rusted out and had fallen down in the grill. All of this is minor and I would give it 4.5 stars if I could. I would even recommend to a friend especially with the high level of customer service.

Condo On the Lake
Our stay was great. The weather could have cooperated a bit more, but none the less, a great resort. Quite and Tranquil. Lastly, the people in the community were fantastic. Super nice, and welcoming.

Great getaway
This was a wonderful getaway for my husband and me. It was quiet and the view of the mountains and lake is gorgeous. John was very nice and easy to communicate with. The Landing Restaurant is very good. We also rented a boat and was able to dock it right in the front of the unit on the lake. Highly recommend.

Perfect for a quick couples getaway.
Upon arrival we found the condo very clean with quick access to the lake. The bed was very comfortable, the Neighborhood was quiet....All said, great value with this package! I would definitely recommend this condo for a couples getaway.

We really enjoyed our time there. Great location
The property was very nice. There were a couple of housekeepping things that were disappointing. We bought our own dish cloth and tea towel. There was a dirty, crusty glass baking dish in the oven that we had to clean, and a glass in the cupboard that had food in it. Overall our experience was very good and we hope to stay there again. Wonderful area and the landing restaurant it’s amazing. You’ll hear the upstairs neighbors, but you won’t care with the amazing views and early morning lake views. Great place and will be going back.

All we wanted and needed
Great place to stay. View from the patio is great, deer on the lawn every night. Short walk to the water. Condo was clean and cozy. My wife and I were there celebrating our 2nd anniversary and we couldn't have been happier. We will be coming back again. Bernards Landing isn't close to alot but restaurants and grocery store are a short drive (10 minutes) away and its a nice drive "thru the country". We didn't get a chance to enjoy the kayak but saw it there and it does have wheels which makes taking it to the lake a lot easier. If looking for a good place to rent a boat I suggest Parrot Cove.

Great View
We stayed here for a wedding and the condo did it's job. My only complaint is that the pull out couch bed, (which is advertised as a sleeping place/bed on the listing), was disgusting. I don't think it had been cleaned in some time. there was wadded up sheets and blankets folded up inside that were extremely dirty. Also, the extra pillows and blankets in the closet were dirty and smelled musty and were lacking pillow cases. The bed in the master bedroom is warped and squishes to the middle so it does make it uncomfortable for more then one person. The views were great and we enjoyed being able to walk out the sliding door to the yard where the wedding was. Other then those things the condo worked out!

Thank you for your feedback. We have replaced both the couch/sleeper and the bed frame. We replaced the sleep sofa mattress with a memory foam fold out and talked to our cleaning crew about checking it. The sheets you found were not ours, so one of our guests used it without letting us know. Now that will be regularly checked. The bed frame’s middle support was broken, so we replaced the frame. I am especially grateful for this feedback since the warranty on our new mattress would have been voided. I replaced all of the blankets as well. Thanks for staying! If you come again, know that you can contact us at any time if we need to do something to make your stay more comfortable.

Visit Bernard’s Landing
This property offers a comfortable retreat for a couple. Easy reservations. Our only complaint was a number of light bulbs were out and it wasn’t challenge to find some for the bedside lamps. The property managers were very responsive.

It was nicely decorated. Nice view of the lake. Convenient location. Very well stocked with cleaning products, paper towels, hand soap, etc....King bed mattress was not comfortable. It tilted towards the middle of the bed. Also sleep sofa mattress was awful with big coils in the mattress.

Our daughter recommended VRBO as no commercial hotels/motels were close enough. We stayed two nights for the wedding at Bernard's Landing, Location was excellent,overlooking the Lake and the wedding venue's tents.

The lake and surrounding area is beautiful. Because we were traveling prior to prime season, we found that there was not much happening (or open) in the surrounding area. We did enjoy hiking at SML state park though. And we will consider a future trip here with our fishing boat.

So So Experience.....
The numbers on the buildings are very hard to see specially in the bad weather. The view was not the same as depicted in the rental pics. While there was a partial water view, I was looking for something right on the water. The condo was fairly clean. The fan in the bathroom was very dirty. The toilet flapper chain needed tinkering with, the shower doesn't cut off completely, the floors were so cold - I'm sure the tile is ideal in the summer and when folks are doing stuff on the lake easier to clean, but man unless I had socks on and stayed on one of the area rugs I couldn't tolerate it. I liked having the little bit of extra space over a hotel. It was scary driving at night - had an event in Rocky Mount to attend and it was taxing going and coming back. But the place was five minutes from friends who live in the area so that was a plus. I probably wouldn't rent this unit again. Oh... the front door sticks and was difficult to get in and out.
