8/10
I’ve been going to Kingston Resorts for over twenty years, and while it’s been a long-time favorite, this recent visit was disappointing in many ways.
The positives:
The front desk agents were fantastic—friendly, welcoming, and helpful. They really made a great first impression.
The challenges:
Reaching anyone by phone was nearly impossible. I tried the operator, front desk, concierge, and even the Black Drum restaurant with no luck. If we needed anything, we had to walk to the lobby ourselves.
The room cleanliness was just so-so. There was visible dust everywhere—on surfaces, décor, and fixtures—which made the space feel neglected.
We paid for an Oceanview room, but the view wasn’t great. Thankfully, the balcony had nice furniture, and that made up for it a bit.
The biggest letdown—pool and water park:
This has always been the highlight of our trips, but not this year. The pool water was murky with debris and things floating around in it. I know they clean it in the mornings, but there was no maintenance throughout the day. It felt dirty and uncared for.
The pool attendants were rude and unhelpful—unlike the fantastic staff from years past, who were warm, attentive, and welcoming.
Adding to the frustration: you’re no longer allowed to bring in any outside food or drinks—not even water or snacks for the kids. Meanwhile, food and drinks at the resort are outrageously expensive. To top it off, the trash cans by the pool were constantly overflowing.
