The Gilmore is a stylish boutique hotel in a fantastic location. My room was clean, thoughtfully designed, and felt more like a modern apartment than a hotel room. The 12 South neighborhood is walkable and full of great shops, coffee spots, and restaurants—location is definitely a strong suit.
What I liked:
Spacious, clean, well-furnished suite with a full kitchen
Amazing walkability in a trendy neighborhood
Vanessa at the front desk was warm, helpful, and elevated the experience
Complimentary wine and a local discount passport (once I knew to ask)
What I didn’t love:
My initial check-in felt more like a screening than a welcome. The staff member asked if I had my door code, my room number, and what floor I was on—no greeting, no smile.
No welcome basket or local perks were offered upon arrival, though I saw them being assembled when I was checking out.
Paid for a vending machine soda before learning drinks were actually complimentary.
Housekeeping knocked twice during my stay, both times with the Do Not Disturb sign displayed.
Light sleep was interrupted by a dripping noise (possibly the A/C) and muffled snoring from another room.
The Gilmore has real potential and some staff who clearly care—but the inconsistency in communication and attention to detail made the stay feel hit or miss. With a little more training and consistency across the team, this could easily become a favorite Nashville spot.
