I had about three quarters of a mile to walk from the local Jesmond Metro station to the hotel as there was no taxi service at this station, it was pouring with rain and I had two suit cases to pull so I could not use my umbrella, by the time I reached the hotel I was soaked right through, and even worse was to come when I rang the bell nobody was there to welcome me I tried several times no answer, it was clear nobody was in to answer the door. As I had just arrived from Thailand I did not yet have a UK sim card so I could not tell the hotel. To say the least I expected the hotel to be open when I arrived which was approximately? 20:30pm fortunately a taxi came pass the hotel and I flagged it down I explained my predicament to the driver and he called the tel No which was displayed outside the hotel. The owner answered and was shocked as he had obviously forgotten I was arriving. When he arrived full of apologies first saying he thought I was arriving later then got me mixed up with another guest who was arriving the next day, excuses, excuses.
The single room was extremely small and the shower cubicle did have a soap dispenser you had to open the show door to use the soup dispenser over the wash basin.
The owner offered to buy me fishn chips but I was not interested, in the morning at breakfast he gave me ten pound I guess to keep me quiet. The only plus I can give this place was the breakfast was good value. In fact it should be classed as a guest house.
