Shocking awful
SHOCKING SERVICE WE WAITED 30 mins to seat for breakfast then another 30 mins and no one took our order so we left even tho we paid for breakfast and had to spend more money then expected to find other food. The rooms are old fashaned and light shades dirty then on the Sunday we went for a drink in the bar and there was no service And no one at the reception to ask 30 mins later someone come back and didn’t even apologise. The only good thing about this hotel was the swimming pool.

No one at reception when we tried to check in. keys were given without asking for our identification and meals times not adequately or not at all presented to us. We had to keep guessing things by ourselves and asking around that it felt like we were bothering them? We had to keep chasing after our tails which can be exhausting?

Very run down and dirty, except for the pool area. Did not sleep a wink. My son slept on the floor as his mattress on the bunk bed was shaped like a banana/hammock (old and worn). Felt like the people next door and above were with us in our room!! Noise levels the worst I’ve experienced. BUT! The staff were friendly and helpful, not their fault the hotel is in a state.

The amenities is very poor..no AC..smell stink in bathroom..the whole time night and day window is open..i'd rather stay in lodge than in hotel like this..i thought its a nice one because its a 5* hotel..its not even 1*..this hotel needs renovation..not recomended sorry

We left after an hour. The first room was dirty with hair on the floor and coffee stains on the furniture and wallpaper hanging off the wall, but the biggest issue was the mould on the wall. The second room was as bad just no mould. To be fair the guy on reception gave me a refund straight away and kept apologising and said the hotel was due a renovation, but doesn’t excuse how dirty it was.

Don’t stay here!
Booked into a triple room with 2 friends and the booking said 3 single beds, they put a double and a single bed in there! The manager blamed Hotels.com! There was mould on the walls, the bathroom grouting was disgusting and parking is a joke! Very tired place…

Hotel rooms extreamly basic ans dated, not worth the £200+ a night. The 'communal' ironing room had 4 ironing borads but only 1 iron for the whole hotel.

Disappointing stay.
It’s a very tired hotel. Obviously geared towards coach trips for the older coach party traveller. Shockingly bad breakfast, strange electrics in the room (TV on the lighting circuit powered through a light switch), not that clean in the room. But it was a bed for the night. It was a relatively late booking… £174 for a twin room, and for that price I expected a whole lot more!

Unacceptable level of cleanliness
Upon arrival we were informed we could not check in until 4pm not 3pm as per confirmation. No restaurant or swimming pool available. There was a damp odour in reception. Broken lighting in reception area toilets. After waiting we were given a key to our freshly cleaned room. Hallway, lifts and communal areas appeared dirty cleaning equipment discarded. Fresh towels and bedding deposited on dirty hallway carpets. Our room had what appeared to be laundered bedding but it was stained. Broken cabinet. Previous occupants cup of water. Food crumbs in drawers. Balcony door not able to be locked. Previous occupants towel on dirty chair on balcony. Balcony appeared not to have been cleaned at all. Due all of these points we were unable to stay at this hotel. We secured another hotel and checked out within the first hour

Room was quite small but ok for the length of our stay, beds were comfy, it could do with a update, it was clean enough but could of been better, the hotel is a coach holiday hotel so the staff seem to pay more attention to their coach guests than others, breakfast was ok. We definitely paid over the odds for a 2 night stay but this is due to fact that there is very very little availability in Newquay this summer so it’s supply and demand at inflated prices

The reception was very accommodating when we asked if it was possible to stay in a room a bit more so we could shower after an ocean swim, they checked to see if it was booked and it wasn't that night so kindly let us have it a bit longer. Really appreciated. Great location and amazing amazing beaches!

I have been travelling around different parts of UK from past many years with my family. I have never had such terrible experience. I strongly recommend that both Expedia and Trivago should remove this Hotel from their listing. Utter waste of money and time. Classing this Hotel "Three Star" is a breach of trust.

Room was too hot with a towel rail that couldn't be turned off. Hotel smelt musty Staff never present Hard bed Booked 3 bed triple got 1 single 1 double. Barely any milk and poor cheap coffee Like a residential home Badley placed TV No shower pressure Toilet roll in dispenser locked so if it got stuck or didn't come out was an issue No breakfast

Well I booked this hotel through hotels.com and was pleased 2 pay £50.00 4 bed and breakfast as that is what was advertised. My hubby found the same hotel on booking.com 4 room only at £45.00. So I was happy 2 get the room and breakfast. However when I arrived at the hotel they said we couldn't hv breakfast due 2 covid conditions. So they gave me a receipt 4 £41.00. But hotels.com hv still charged me £50.00 from my account! I look 4ward 2 a £9.00 deposit back 2 my account as breakfast cost me £22.00 elsewhere.

The bathroom was an absolute disgrace. The door wouldn't shut, the shower door handle was hanging off, the shower door was not on its runners and finally the actual shower was a dribble of water. Rubbish. Went to reception we,re the "manager" informed the maintenance man would sort it the next day. He didn't turn up. Avoid this hotel at all costs

good morning i did speak to you and say that our handy man team would try and fixed the problem. i also offered you to move rooms straight away you did not want to move. i said if the handy man can not fixed your shower which he could not do please come and see me that evening and i would move your room. you never came to see us at reception that day only mentioned on check out that was still not fixed we could of moved your room straight away but you wanted to stay were you was many thanks barrowfield hotel

Shabby dirty & appalling service. Broken toilet which apparently had been reported by previous guest & not mended. Breakfast we had to wait over 20 mins even thought we had an allocated slot whilst they served their coach trip guests firsts before their private guests. Had to ask for milk for our tea, no spoons provided, stirred tea with fork. Asked for orange juice & we were given 1 between us. Car Parking a joke had to find a private road to park in. This property is not worth the money we had to pay.

Very Very basic
Cannot fault the staff, very friendly and helpfull. for me the staff were the best bit. Unfortunatly the rooms are on the tired side and need a little updating. My biggest complaint was that the toilet smelt of urine, this smell also came into the bedroom which was unpleasant.I purchased a candle which just about masked the smell, the shower was fulll of damp also. I would not spend any more then £40 a night on a room here. The bed was comfortable and the sheets and towels were clean, very basic and only ONE plug in the whole room.

Pool Was very nice. Staff working hard with difficult times( Covid). Condition of room was tired, part of door frame missing, if the window was then the bath panel end rattled loudly. One of the beds look to have started collapsing, there was a frosted window between the bathroom and the single bed, this had no blind and you could see through it

Aged dirty rooms, damp stains on walls and ceilings, faulty plug sockets. Ladies on check in and out were polite however the gent working the evening/night was not. By comparison I stayed in a hostel for the2 previous nights that was significantly better in all regards and was half the price
