Linscott Farmhouse is a beautifully refurbished farmhouse on the edge of Dartmoor National Park, set on 77 acres of private countryside. This accommodation in Moretonhampstead, Devon is perfect for those seeking a tranquil, high-quality escape, this spacious home combines elegant interiors with breathtaking outdoor spaces and views of the surrounding countryside. It is the perfect destination for families, friends, and larger groups seeking relaxation and adventure.



Inside



Step through the front door into the thoughtfully designed home where every detail speaks of comfort and style. The central limestone tiled hallway is filled with light with doors leading off into the south facing principal rooms and with one of two staircases rising to the first floor.



At the heart of the home is the gourmet kitchen/breakfast room, equipped with an AGA, Lacanche range and steam oven, and provides everything you need to create memorable meals. The double doors in the breakfast area open out onto the stone terrace offering wonderful views across the lawn to the moors of Dartmoor beyond. The main dining room offers a ‘Parisian country flair’ furnished with a large table to comfortably seat 10, a woodburning stove and french doors that open onto the expansive lawn, seamlessly blending indoor and outdoor living.



Throughout the downstairs, underfloor heating ensures warmth and comfort, adding to the home’s inviting atmosphere. The spacious sitting room offers ample cozy seating for all guests, making it the perfect spot to unwind after a day exploring Dartmoor or enjoy a game of cards in front of the roaring woodburning stove. For those who prefer a quieter retreat, a snug TV room provides additional space to relax—an ideal spot for younger guests to enjoy their own space.



Ascend one of the two staircases to the first floor, where you'll find five luxurious en suite bedrooms. Each room has been meticulously designed with premium fittings and tranquil views of the surrounding countryside. The principal bedroom is a sanctuary of sophistication, while the remaining rooms boast engineered and reclaimed oak flooring, adding character and charm.



Two of the bedrooms feature freestanding roll-top baths, positioned to take full advantage of the stunning views. These bedrooms also offer luxurious en suite shower rooms, making them the perfect place to relax in ultimate comfort.



Completing the accommodating is The Annex, a one bedroom apartment that has its own entrance or can be accessed down a couple of steps off the dining room.



The lounge is a true highlight, featuring exposed beams and a vaulted ceiling, enhancing the sense of space. Double doors open out into your own enclosed private garden offering the ideal spot to unwind after a day of exploring. Cozy up on the sofa by the wood-burning stove for a relaxing evening, or enjoy a meal at the dining table as you plan your next adventure across the moors.



The John Lewis of Hungerford kitchen is fully equipped with everything you need to prepare home-cooked meals, making it perfect for any ‘chef’ looking to whip up an evening feast. When it’s time to rest, the super king-size bed dressed in luxurious linens ensures a peaceful night’s sleep.

The elegant bathroom features a ball and claw freestanding bath with a hand-held shower, offering a charming, classic touch to your stay. Additional amenities include a WC and washbasin, completing the spa-like feel of this luxurious space.

Outside



Linscott Farmhouses’ outdoor spaces are as captivating as its interiors. The stone terrace features a woodburning hot tub and looks out over the large swathe of lawn in front of the house as well as the incredible scenery that lies beyond. There is also a separate enclosed garden accessed through french doors from the Annex lounge. Follow the sloping pathways up to an elevated and stone terrace a perfect space for summer dining with the provision of an outdoor kitchen, complete with BBQ and pizza oven and enjoying majestic views over the surrounding countryside.



To complete the picture is a further communal garden shared with Philips Barn, a one bedroom property that can be booked with Linscott Farmhouse. A network of paths and tracks leads past the productive kitchen garden with raised oak beds offering herbs and vegetables that you can help yourself to, brick paving and a further terrace to enjoy. The pathway then leads up to a swimming pond flanked with granite boulders and with glorious views over the house, gardens and rolling hills of Dartmoor beyond.



The 77-acre estate invites you to explore its meadows, paddocks, and woodlands, offering an idyllic backdrop for peaceful strolls or more energetic adventures. Unwind in the hot tub or take a dip in the communal swimming pond (available April - October). Evenings are magical, spent around the fire-pit under Dartmoor’s starry skies. (The property is packed with activities, including a trampoline, basketball net, ping pong table, and a treasure chest of kids' toys. Bikes and scooters are available to explore the quiet lanes and private grounds)

Chagford is accessible via local buses from both Exeter and Okehampton. The nearest train station is in Okehampton, just a 25-minute drive away, while Exeter provides the closest national rail connections, with trains from London taking approximately 2.5 hours.

Linscott Farmhouse, (sleeps 12) and Philips Barn (sleeps 2) all form part of Linscott Farm situated in a peaceful position near Chagford, a picturesque and popular market town, surrounded by rolling hills and stunning countryside. The properties are formed on two sides of a central courtyard and sit on the edge of a 77 acre site.



Each property benefits from its own entrance, parking, private garden, individual wood fired hot tubs as well as access to a communal garden with raised oak beds of vegetables and herbs, from which you can pick some fresh ingredients to use during your stay, a swimming pond as well as being able to explore the rolling hills and woodland of the 77 acre site.



The properties can be booked either individually or together to accommodate up to 14 guests in total. Linscott Farmhouse also accepts pets.





Private parking is provided at the property.



The property is accessed up a single track lane, with some passing places, for the last 0.8 miles of your journey



Use of the wood burning hot tub is at your own risk . An initial supply of logs will be provided.
