Great value outside of Yosemite
This was a great home base for our visit to Yosemite. It takes a while to get into the park, but it's near grocery stores and restaurants, which was important to us. The house was also clean and well stocked and had toys for our kids to play with, and the hosts were very responsive.

Our trip to Yosemite!!
We had a great time staying at “Stone Throws Retreat! Everything was as advertised! Great communications and everything!! My daughter had left her “Buddy” stuffed animal that has been on every vacation so far. They informed us that he was left and he went in a fantastic journey getting home!! He had pictures of his fun time!! Lol!! Definitely recommend anyone looking for a place to stay close to Yosemite National Park to check this property out!! Thank you Esmé for all you did for us!!

Yosemite Vacation
We loved staying here! We had a 9 year old and 2 year old and they both were perfectly happy to play with the toys Esme provided! We couldn’t bring everything we would need for this trip since we flew in. They had everything we would need to pack up a little picnic and more! I would 100% recommend a family with young children staying at Stone’s Throw!!

Beautiful tree and deer views
We had a fantastic time in this spacious 3 bedroom home. Every day we were greeted by deer, turkeys and quail birds. The trees surrounding the home gave us beautiful views from the large windows. The kitchen had everything… even coffee! We brought our own too. We were able to cook a few meals without any problems. The owners were delightful and we were able to check in a little bit earlier due to their efficiency. We will definitely come back! The town’s restaurants were great too! The Mexican restaurant and BBQ restaurant were on point. Our drive to Yosemite was about an hour with amazing views to enjoy. We had a great time celebrating our daughter’s birthday! Thank you!

Comfortable and well equipped
We were very satisfied with this rental although it takes some navigation skills to find it after dark especially since there was a fire in the area. Our only issue was that the loft bed was very low to the floor and the floors were very squeaky to hear from below. The owner was very responsive to our one small issue, and the kitchen was well equipped. We discovered some hiking equipment after our second day, which was an added bonus.

Fabulous home from home, close to Yosemite
We really enjoyed our break in this lovely property, excellently appointed with every comfort attended to and providing the best of both worlds- plenty of space for our group of 6, whilst being cosy enough for shared meals and time on the deck or balcony. Esme is a superb host- she addressed any queries we had very promptly and ensured we were updated on the status of the washburn and oak fires, allowing us to plan days out safely. The property lives up to it's name- a true retreat. We hope to return sometime!

Could not have been better!
Besides being an absolutely charming property the owners are so easy to work with. Kind and cared about me and my situation. Very responsive to messages. Told me everything I needed to know before I thought to ask about the amenities and check in/check out process. Not only didn’t we have shower towels we had beach towels, plenty of cookware, comfortable bedding, a beautiful and large kitchen table. I love the little things like healthy cleaning products. I would absolutely recommend and rent again from Esme and Chad. Thank you for an experience that was better than I expected!

The house was perfect for our stay. The home is cozy with 3 bedrooms, deck for grilling, and hosts that provided us information about Yosemite right after we booked. It is about 30 minutes from the south entrance to Yosemite, and close to grocery/ sport store. Would definitely recommend for others to stay.

Very cozy little home in a quiet neighborhood. The owners have spent time making this home very warm and welcoming. Immaculate! We also enjoyed sitting out on the deck in the afternoon after a long day in Yosemite. We even had a large family of deer to watch in the lower yard. We would like to stay here again on our next trip to the Park. Highly recommend.

Amazing hosts and amazing home!
What an amazing time we had at the Stone’s Throw retreat!! This home was absolutely perfect in every way. We have stayed at numerous vacation homes all over the country, and this has been by far one of the best. From the comfortable beds, to the cozy living room, to the fully stocked kitchen. The property is absolutely beautiful and we loved how close it was to everything! Shopping is only about 10 minutes away, and Yosemite’s south gate is only 15 minutes in the other direction. Our family was so cozy every night in front of the fireplace. It snowed so much! The layout is perfect for families; small enough that it’s intimate, but with enough space for spreading out. I could go on and on about how perfect this home is. Chad and Esme, the homeowners, are the sweetest, nicest hosts we’ve ever had the pleasure of dealing with. The house is stocked with everything you could possibly think of and more. Our kids loved the games and puzzles that were also provided. We stayed during the holidays and the wonderful hosts made everything so simple for us, and even went above and beyond and left us large gingerbread houses and cookies for us to build, what a kind and very appreciated gesture! This was one of the cleanest homes we’ve ever stayed in—immaculate. The little details that meant so much to us like the holiday decorations and the Christmas tree were such a sweet touch and we are so happy that we chose to stay here during our Christmas vacation. Seriously, I could go on and on about this magnificent place. Do not hesitate to stay here, they will take care of you. Thank you Chad and Esme! We hope to return some day.

We stayed 4 nights at this wonderful property. The house had everything that we needed including some dinosaurs that my grandson found. There is a nice deck and BBQ that would be great in warmer weather. The house is located near the south entrance to Yosemite park and close to the town. Overall—great stay!

Very nice, convenient place to stay when visiting Yosemite National Park or Bass Lake. Well appointed with everything that we needed. Very clean and ready for us to rent. Wonderful place near Yosemite! Incredibly clean and well provisioned (lots of cookware, towels, bbq grill, all the way down to the little things like Q-tips.) Esme was very responsive in communication and helpful with insights about where to get the least expensive gas. If I could give more than 5 stars, I would!!

Great cabin and location for day trips
We created some great new family memories over 4th of July Holiday weekend . Nice open layout, plenty of beds and well equipped. The cabin is close to the main highways, store, Just a short drive to Yosemite National Park and Bass Lake. Great Patio deck for BBQ dinners. Great family cabin! We would definitely stay here again!!! Esme and Chad are amazing and gave us some great recommendations and tips of everything! Cant wait to come back!

Foremost the property was clean. Easy to find. House has a good layout. Upstairs with loft and bedroom totaling 3 beds for the kids. Two bedrooms downstairs for adults. Plenty of kitchen utensils and dinnerware. Used the washer and dryer. Excellent communication with owner. To us Oakhurst was a better value than Wawona or other locations and only a 44 mile drive to the visitor center plus it is a city of 13,000 people so you have access to good groceries for your meals. Kids enjoyed the wildlife and their own deck to watch the sunset. Would definitely use again if we were in the area.

The property was awesome! Esme McCarthy (property manager) is amazing! 5 stars.
By far the best experience I've had when it comes to vacation rentals. The place was immaculate, very well stocked with everything you might need. Esme provided us with perfect instructions and was very thorough with information regarding the property. I will definitely rent this place again.
