'Beautiful hotel. Hot tubs and sauna have beautiful views. A couple of off-putting things about a hotel of this quality were the melamine plates used for breakfast (very cheap!) and the fact that we had to pre-pay for breakfast before being allowed into the breakfast area. Such bad taste!'

EUR 170 seems a bit expensive, but this seems to be the average rate in this area. Area is quiet and has a beautiful view. Parking on site in front of the room.'

'Guesthouse in a rather remote location, nearest town seems to be Egilsstaðir and that's a half-hour drive away. Self check-in, you are given a code to access your room key. Breakfast is included. Staff kindly ask guests to not wear shoes in the house. Rooms are rather cramped, but clean, beds were comfy and curtains were blackout. Ambiance is somewhat lacking, the view is okay from the outside but there was construction right next to the house. Okay stop for the Ring Road for one night but...

'The room at the Hildibrand Hotel was spacious, clean, and comfortable. While the shower was extremely small, it did have excellent water pressure. Be aware that this is a self-check-in hotel with no front desk staff on-site. That made it especially frustrating when we experienced problems with the room door lock. We sent several messages to management through the Expedia app but never received a response. Another major disappointment was that the hotel advertises two bars/lounges, a coffee...

'Cosy guesthouse in the middle of nowhere. The owner, Siggi, gave us a very warm welcome when we arrived and we had a great chat with him over morning coffee. The room and facilities were excellent; next to the room itself there's a well equipped common area with sofas, TV, fridge, etcetera. Excellent bed and pillows. Got a tasty breakfast buffet even though it just the two of us that morning. Would come again!'
