Excellent accommodation, friendly and helpful host, car definitely recommended
Suzon was an excellent, friendly host and prior to our stay she was clear and cooperative in her communication around any remaining questions we had about the accommodation. Upon arrival everything was sorted and she also offered us a very good deal on renting one of their brand new cars.
The apartment was clean and as advertised -- no surprises there. The facilities (kitchen, bath- and bedrooms) were big and modern for two people. It also includes plenty of cooking utensils as well as BBQ for several nights of home cooking. It has a very good working WiFi connection, which allowed for often and great video calling to friends and family during our stay.
It is situated on a nicely build and closed off compound, which gives it a very safe feeling. On top of that, you'll always have a parking spot for your car.
We had originally planned to only rent a car for a couple of days, but the island itself and the location of the apartment in Orient Bay definitely warrants renting a car for your entire stay. Walking to the beach takes 15 minutes and the roads are not ideally made for it. Thankfully, again, the offer to rent the car for two weeks was perfect.
During our stay we lost power and water on two separate occasions, which is generally quite normal for St. Maarten. Suzon was very helpful in her communication about it and assured us that it was going to be all ok. This gave is a very reassuring feeling that in case things go wrong, Suzon is very reachable and cooperative.
Giving is 4/5, as our only point of criticism is the location of the apartment with regards to Orient Bay. A car is truly recommended, but it's not a big deal, as it's also in general the only way to smoothly enjoy the entire island.
