Our stay was fine. The hotel is an older property that has been updated with pretty decor, lots of instagrammable moments, etc. That said, there was one thing that really put me off about our 2 night stay. We had prepaid for the room before arriving. When we checked in they advised a hold would be put on my credit card for $200 ($100 for each night). Fine, that is normal. After the first night’s stay, I saw another $320 hold had been added. After our second and final night stay another $615 had been added. By the time we checked out, totalling up these holds, the hotel had put $1135 on hold on my credit card. We hadn’t purchased anything, got drinks, no food. I asked about it at reception and they told me ‘their system is weird’ and that ‘the holds will drop off in 7-10 business days’. Not a great explanation, I was irritated. I spent the next 7 days checking my credit card online, daily, to make sure the holds were released. Overall the stay was fine but if you need room on your credit card for other purchases watch out, they’ll add holds with abandon. 🙄
