When we arrived, our room was already occupied. We tried contacting the host/property manager, but couldn’t get an answer. We had to sit in a parking lot, at night, after driving several hours, and contact VRBO directly to try and get help. Initially, VRBO asked me to send them pictures, proving that the room was occupied. I had already walked in on a family, which was awkward enough. I told them that I didn’t feel comfortable doing that again. I certainly wasn’t going to take pictures of them. We eventually found another place to stay, that ended up being over three times the amount we paid for this place. We are supposed to get a refund/reimbursement on some of it, so we will see. The host finally sent a message, later that night, stating that they were glad we were able to get help, with no explanation or concern to the matter. The place looks run down and not too safe, so it was probably best that we didn’t stay there anyways. The whole situation almost felt like some sort of scam.
