In het hart van het land Daphne du Maurier zijn zowel de aangrenzende VisitEngland Gold Award-winnende Prideaux Farmhouse (ref TMO) als Prideaux Cottage (ref TMP), samen met het prachtig verbouwde, vrijstaande Wagon House met één verdieping (ref TPE) het Prideaux Estate dat aan de top van de Luxulyan-vallei ligt met verreikende en kruipende uitzichten over de vallei en de bossen. De vallei is een traktatie voor het hele gezin, ongeacht de tijd van het jaar en ligt op slechts een korte loopafstand van deze drie accommodaties. De thuisbasis van wat wordt beschouwd als ‘de mooiste wandeling in Cornwall’ voert u door diep beboste paden, pittoreske beekjes en onder een oud viaduct dat ooit de porseleinen klei-, tin- en granietschepen van Cornwall naar het noorden voerde. Het is slechts een korte wandeling naar Prideaux Wood, waar de Saints 'Way-wandeling te vinden is, 27 mijl aan historisch voetpad dat helemaal van het vissersdorp Fowey aan de zuidkust naar de havenstad Padstow in het noorden leidt. Het pad is doordrenkt van historische Cornish interesse door oude ruïnes en een heel tapijt van aangrijpende geschiedenis. Voor kustwandelingen laten de Cornish-kliffen wandelaars de verkwikkende Atlantische lucht in zich opnemen en genieten van ongelooflijke oceaanuitzichten. Dit deel van Cornwall is rijk aan historische huizen en tuinen, waaronder het wereldberoemde Eden Project en de Lost Gardens of Heligan - een gerestaureerd Victoriaans meesterwerk dat vele jaren verloren is gegaan aan de wereld en voor altijd is verbonden met het dorp Mevagissey aan de zuidkust . Er zijn veel andere tuinen van belang, waaronder Caerhays, Tregahan en Trelissick op het schiereiland Roseland. De zuidkust heeft ook vele uitstekende stranden, klifwandelingen, afgelegen baaien en historische zeevarende steden zoals Falmouth en Fowey, die binnen handbereik van Prideaux liggen. Fowey, bekend als de thuisbasis van Daphne du Maurier, een koninklijke jachtclub en jaarlijkse regatta, ligt op 8 km afstand en heeft tal van restaurants, uitstekende pubs, cafés, galeries en winkels. Vanaf hier kan een boot langs de kust worden genomen om misschien dolfijnen in de baai te zien. Zeevissen, kajakken en zeilen kunnen allemaal worden genoten vanuit Fowey. Golf, paardrijden, surfen, zeilen en fietsen zijn allemaal dichtbij beschikbaar. Padstow, St Ives, Truro en Looe zijn allemaal gemakkelijk te bereiken en zorgen voor een opwindende dag in Cornwall. Winkel 1 mijl, pub 11/2 mijl.

We stayed here five years ago and it was just as lovely as the first time. The cottage has been maintained to a high standard, and the caretaker is very helpful. All we really need on a break is a bed and shower but as we get older we enjoy a bit of comfort so this was an ideal cottage for us. We were out walking most days so at the end of the day we could enjoy a great shower and relax in a warm room, boiling hot on the nights we lit the wood burner! Some of the kitchen equipment we had to refer to the manuals but everything eventually got cooked and nothing was burnt. Only disappointment was we chose to leave one night early due to the high winds forecast the following morning. Would recommend to others.

We would have loved to give this property a lot higher rating particularly as the owners have clearly spent a considerable amount of money on this property, which is better than most of the cottages we have rented via Cottage.com over several years. It does, in our opinion, fall down on the quality of the bed. We noted other reviews have said the bed was "comfy" however, at best we had no more than 3-4 hours sleep without waking with aching backs. We found the bed exceptionally hard and uncomfortable. Sorry. We appreciate bed specifications are very subjective, however, we have been fortunate to have had several short breaks in recent months and have had some very good nights sleep at all the cottages and hotels we have stayed at. On a more positive note The Wagon House is quiet and as expected very clean upon arrival. The welcome pack of cream tea, scones, flowers and milk made for a very pleasant start. We did not have a mobile signal so could not chat with the owners about our concerns, however, taking on board previous comments we decided the property just did not suit us. We place great value in property reviews and it would not be fair to future users not to give a truthful review. Hopefully, the owners will take these comments on board and try the bed themselves.

A lovely property with a modern feel, absolutely spotless on arrival. The location is a little off the beaten track but only a 5 min drive from the main road, and only 10 mins drive from the Eden Project. This also meant is was ever so quiet giving us a lovely nights sleep! We would highly recommend and are even considering returning next year.

Really enjoyed the waggon house , it was a little bit too far to walk into par , back up the hill was hard , so wish we had been closer to village so we didn't always have to get into the car. However it was very peaceful and relaxing. The bed was really comfy and the bathroom amazing . Scored 8 for equipment as no kitchen roll and only 1 very thin tea towel and no bottle stoppers so my prosecco went flat. ! Otherwise had a lovely time.

The Wagon House is beautifully decorated to a high standard and is very spacious, including the bathroom with an impressive walk-in shower. All mod cons are included and is fully equipped with everything you need and more. It has a well kept small garden and lovely surroundings, the location is spot on and so peaceful, with birds singing and no traffic noise - perfect! We had a very blissful time and would certainly recommend this property.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in the Wagon House, a modern, bright and well equipped cottage in a quiet location. Very comfortable, with all the mod cons. Our only little problem was cobwebs and dust on the dining room lamp above the dining table and across the back of the headboard that we noticed on our first day !! Cleaning the floor with a brush and mop was fine, but, If there had been a small cordless vacuum cleaner available (such as a "Shark") we could have used this easier to give the floor and other items a quick clean. Many thanks for the presentation of the cottage and the cream tea that was made available upon arrival. We would definitely recommend the cottage and visit again.
