Geweldig aangelegd resort met mooie kamers.Beetje volgepropt,maar zeer comfortabel. Mooi zwembad in prachtige tuin;helaas weinig personeel, waardoor er bijna service is en alles erg lang duurt. Slecht ontbijt, waarbij je voor een omelet al moet bijbetalen. Ook voor koffiecups(thee)op je kamer( wel een nespresso machine!) betaal je $ 2 per cup! Niet echt gastvrij!!

El hotel esta en una playa muy hermosa, enorme lo que le permite a uno salir a trotar en las mananas, el area segura, las instalaciones del hotel muy buenas pero sobre todo el personal, deje unas medicinas por error en la habitacion y me coordinaron el transporte de las mismas a san jose y estuvieron muy pendientes de lo mismo... muy agradecido por este servicio ....

Great location but needs some "management"
Great location. Beautiful setting and pool area. Shallets pleasant but very little wardrobe space (OK for a weekend stay). Plumbing a big problem. Toilet did not work in first shallet. Took 24 hours to prepare a suitable alternative which had water leak by toilet. Restaurant pleasant but choice of food not great. Staff pleasant but not particularly helpful or friendly.

Everything is stained, from the couches and rugs in your room to the pool loungers. The one time we had housekeepers they put a fitted sheet on that was stained with blood. When I told the front desk they were off put and seemed like I was crazy for asking for new sheets. The property was clearly a beautiful place a few years ago and has great potential but the current staff isn’t maintaining it. It was nearly deserted so the privacy and beach front is the only saving grace here.

Excelente ubicación, habitaciones amplias con muebles nuevos. Desayuno algo limitado, la comida del restaurante muy buena, linda presentación, pero algo caro. El servicio en el restaurante agradable y con ganas de servir, complacer y aprender. Un lugar con mucho potencial, falta el Poolbar, amenidades en la playa, todo posible sin mucha inversión. Hay ciertas fallas en mantenimiento pero nada grave y se ve que están trabajando en esto.

Unfortunately we had a bad experience with management. After spending quite a bit of money on a fishing charter the staff said they would freeze our fish so we could bring it back to FL with us. Upon check out we went to retrieve our fish and to our shock it wasn't frozen. There was now no way for us to take it with us so we said they could have it but we would need to be compensated in some way for their mistakes (they admitted to taking it out of their freezer to make room from their products. That is completely understandable however they never told us so we could make other arrangements. We would have found another option to keep the fish frozen had they told us they needed the space) we asked that they comp our last dinner with them to make it even. They strung us around for 30min without making a decision but we were checking out and had to leave to make our flight... Because of the hold up we ended up missing our flight as well. After weeks of emailing the resort to make amends they have stoped responding. It's a shame they admitted to the mistake but still won't take accountability and make it right.

The most important thing about going on a relaxing vacation is being able to sleep in a comfortable bed and Sunset definitely delivered with fresh, plush bedding comfortable mattress with topper, and great pillows. Rooms are very clean and modern. Hotel is right on a nice big, quiet beach. With a pool and restaurant on site what more could you possibly need? Desk manager is awesome, the restausant staff, grounds and security staff all very freindly and accommodating. Any problems are dealt with efficiently and to your satisfaction. I would recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a nice relaxing few days away from the hustle and bustle of the hire traffic areas and at a reasonable price relative to other hotels in Costa Rica.The only drawback, if you can call it that, is that this property is best suited to someone with a car. A backpcker will have a long walk off the main road to get here. Although there may be a shuttle from the main road to the hotel my wife tells me.

If you are not pretentious, and can live with a couple things, this is a great place. The staff was very nice. They just aren’t used to us North American’s down here as well. The food was actually very good there. The best part is being right on the beach.

Great location, we loved that we could step outside and there was the ocean. Very beautiful property and was in the middle of Jaco and Manuel Antonio, amenities were amazing. We were very comfortable and happy with our stay. The service is not as efficient as I would have liked and the restaurant okay.

We very much enjoyed our stay! This beautiful resort is quiet and the staff were very accommodating. Rates were very reasonable. Great waves for surfing and a nice pool for the kids. We had stayed here once before and were not disappointed. This is a great place for a family vacation!

The location of the Beach, this was a clean, friendly staff, if you want to tour a rented car makes it much easier. There are other choices for drinks and food walkable along the beach. This property while I was there was being worked on and updated daily. The pool was great I used everyday. I had very good meals. The price and quality compared to other places I eat was excellent. Only one meal I would have rated not good (pasta seafood). The only thing that would have made this stay better for me would be more people at the resort as I traveled alone. Once the new management has completed there updates to this property it will be a 10 out of 10. At this time I would rate as a 7 out of 10 due to the staff, location and how clean the rooms and common area were.

Unforgettable Sunsets!
This family owned beach front jewel was closed during the pandemic. I booked our second time at the hotel and saw a positive change from our last stay. This time I felt welcome and happy. The new manager Isabel is taking care of what needs to be done (thank you Isabel). We will be back again.

The property has a nice long beachfront access. Access is from a paved/unpaved entry. The property overall is old and not kept well. We ran out of hot water on several occasions. The water pressure is low and the manager told us that they do not have a water tank and pump in place and have requested the owners for one. Breakfast is pre-cooked self-help buffet style. Nothing to write home about. We skipped it and bought elsewhere. Room were overcrowded with ancient furniture that cramped the room. The bathroom fixtures were all worn out and not cleaned. The bed overnight was not even dusted or the bathrooms were not cleaned. The place i understaffed and for the price per night seems to be overcharging. The pool setting is nice but the pool water level was below that of the skimmers and the pool was full of bugs and debris from the trees. The ocean was better for a swim! The black sand beach off the resort was amazing. The sunset from the beach is appropriate for the resorts name. The manager and the limited staff they had were polite and courteous. They were put in a difficult situation by the owners lack of investment in the propety's upkeep and operation. I would not go back here again till they staff up. Make arrangements for water and clean up the place.

This place should be condemned!! It’s unsafe, unsanitary and infested!! Nothing at this property is maintained. The public bathrooms haven’t been cleaned in VERY long time. I can’t even guess. Everything is rusted, falling apart, ALL exterior electrical outlets are broken/rated/dangerous. Flea infested cat lying on seated areas is VERY obvious by the car hair and critters. Soggy Garbage laying orotund pool deck. Rotten wood and plaster falling off of buildings that actually have full trees growing on the roofs!!!

Aussitôt arrivés aussitôt repartis. Nous avons été très déçu de cet hôtel. Première impression, l’hôtel est très loin de tout, environ 1h des grandes villes comme Jaco ou Quepos. A notre grande surprise nous arrivons dans un hôtel désert, personne au parking, personne à la piscine (qui est par ailleurs hors fonctionnement), personne a l’accueil… après quelques minutes une personne arrive pour notre Check-in puis nous amène à notre chambre. La chambre est très sombre, assez petite. Les draps du lit et les serviettes sont tachés. La vitre de la salle de bain est pleine de traces de calcaire comme si elle n’avait pas été nettoyée depuis longtemps. Le lit semble confortable mais en soulevant les draps nous remarquons des petits points noirs sur le matelas ce qui est caractéristique de puces de lit. Ni une ni deux nous prenons nos affaires à la recherche d’un autre hôtel. Bref passez votre chemin

Planned a relaxing 3 night stay with my pregnant wife, we love Esterillos. But we had an awful experience. Hotel is under staffed, barely open and way overpriced. Without any prior warning we were informed that the restaurant was closed til further notice. Pool was unkept and untreated. Beds were deformed and full of bed bugs. Room glass doors to the beach were kept closed by what amounted to a paper clip. Can fully understand that the hotel is getting back on its feet after the pandemic but they charge $450 for their better rooms. They charge like a high end resort and maybe put out a hostal level service. And it is just a matter of service quality and maintenance. Rooms and the grounds are very pretty on a great location!!! We had to checkout after 1 night. Do not visit this property please. Truly feel robbed and remain appalled by the dishonesty of the hotel.

La recepción es dificil de encontrar, el restaurante tiene horarios cortos de atención. La atención del restaurante es muy deficiente. El administrador tiene un trato vergonzoso, nunca había experimentado un tarro tan malo de parte de un administrador ni servicio tan malo en un restaurante. Además, las sábanas estaban manchadas.

5* accommodation. We booked this stay knowing it could have been a 50/50 from the past reviews. New management is in place now and they are turning things around. The accommodation is the best I have ever stayed it, it is true 5*. Serious money has been spent on the hotel. The staff were great and couldn’t do enough for you. Only thing is they have been plagued from past reviews meaning it was a bit quiet and the staff are all new and finding their feet so didn’t always know where the cups were kept etc. Overall highly recommend.

It’s so unfortunate that the management here wasn’t better. This place has the potential to be so amazing…great location, on a beach break, beautiful grounds, and the rooms are nice. But it’s obvious this place is poorly managed and understaffed. The bar was loaded with dirty dishes. On the counter is for a customer sit. Diapers and trash around the pool area, irrigation leaks all over the property. Staff on their phones, ignoring all of the above The rooms were not clean. The refrigerator and coffee makers still had usage from the guest prior to us If you left a surf, this spot is perfect. Right on a break The beds are extremely comfortable I have confidence this place could be amazing if it were just managed differently

Las instalaciones son buenas, aunque les falta mantenimiento. Está en un muy buen lugar. Pero: tienen pésimo servicio: en tres dias no fueron ninguno a hacer limpieza, tender camas, cambiar toallas, restaurante sin comida, cocina sucia. No lo recomiendo en absoluto

I had an incredible time with friends on my birthday! The crew was especially friendly and paying a lot of attention to requests and any details! Even reception was especially attentive and welcoming! The food was amazing as well…The rooms are very comfortable…The setting is amazing …We will be back !!!!

El hotel es hermoso, la atención no muy buena (creo que hay poco personal), la comida del restaurante no estuvo buena tampoco.
