Tip Ellen is een arrogant armoedig huis op Pawleys Island en een overlevende van orkaan Hugo. Gebouwd met liefde en zorg creëert dit huis een prachtige omgeving voor een betaalbare strandvakantie voor het hele gezin. Op een steenworp afstand van de oceaan kunt u heerlijk ontspannen op de veranda met breed scherm waar ze de warme oceaanwinden zullen horen en ruiken. In mei 2015 had dit huis een totale renovatie van binnen en van buiten ... hardhouten vloeren, granieten aanrecht en roestvrijstalen gootsteen in de keuken, een frisse laag buitenverf, een nieuw scherm aan de voorkant en nog veel meer! Eenmaal binnen is de woning voorzien van een gezellige woon-, eetkamer en keukencombinatie met kabel-tv, magnetron, eettafel, comfortabele stoelen en nog veel meer. Als alleen de mooie knoestige dennenmuren konden praten ... zouden de verhalen van families die met kaarten spelen of van een maaltijd genieten, worden herhaald. Het huis heeft vier slaapkamers en twee badkamers. Bedden accommodaties zijn een koningin, twee tweepersoonskamers, een tweepersoonsbed en twee tweepersoonskamers. Extra voorzieningen zijn onder andere nieuw beddengoed, nieuwe luie jongensstoelen in de woonkamer, wifi, airconditioning, wasmachine / droger, overdekte parkeerplaats en een afgesloten buitendouche met warm / koud water.

Quintessential Pawley’s

I love this house. It is everything I remember from my childhood at PI - wooden floors and walls, outside laundry and shower, screened porch, a few bugs, a little mildew. It is so close to beach access that it might as well be beachfront! The beds were super comfy. Highly recommend.

The listing says it will sleep 12, but we had 10 people & there was not enough room. We couldn't all eat together as a family because the table was set up for 4. We did pull in a few chairs but there were not 10 total chairs & we wouldn't have fit around the table even if we had 10 chairs. There just wasn't enough sitting for 10 people let alone 12. We did love that out was so close to the beach, but there was no place in the house to rest & relax for everyone. Shouldn't be listed for 12 people.

A Taste of Pawley’s Island history

Outshined and dwarfed by the newer, bigger, more modern houses, this home provides the experience of an “arrogantly shabby” island where casual and laid back were a way of life. In fact it’s kind of sad for those of us who experienced the old Pawley’s to see it so changed. The cabin is very small - 4 bedrooms, 2 baths, kitchen and television area in less than 1000 square ft. Still it was adequate for 8 of us. The outdoor shower and huge screen porch made the space seem much larger. The only thing that would have made the screen porch better would have been a view of the ocean, but we were not expecting a view. Short walk to beach and mostly quiet street. Never saw a bug in or around the home. It would benefit greatly from new fridge and stove with a working light and exhaust fan and electrical outlets in the 2nd bathroom. Some of the furniture has been updated and others could use an update. The bathrooms were clean and convenient. The A/C worked well. We thoroughly enjoyed our week, but we think it would not work well for more than 7 or 8 people. The beach is beautiful and we rented a golf cart for riding around the island. It was a fun week

Good location but....

We have been staying at Pawleys Island for over 30 years now and although we were expecting a more traditional Pawleys house, this was a bit more on the shabby side than we anticipated. The house has all of its original charm but it also has windows that won't stay open if they even open and don't have screens if you can get them to stay open-not ideal when you want to get the fresh ocean air and hear the waves. The kitchen was not very functional with no light over the stove to cook by, a rusted and broken fridge, and seriously under equipped cooking utensils, pots, and pans. We rent a house specifically to be able to cook at the house and it was not easy here. The beds were said to have been replaced recently but I can assure you they are not new mattresses-the bed I slept in specifically had a massive dip right in the middle. The house in general was just dark and not what you would hope for when renting at the beach. That being said-the location is great-it really is about a 1 minute walk to the beach. We had zero issue with bugs as a previous review had stated. The screened in porch is large and the rocking chairs is where we spent all our time other than the beach as the living space inside is pretty tight. Overall this could be a super great beach house rental but I feel that the property owners need to actually invest in some basic comforts that someone would expect when renting a home at Pawleys Island.

The listing and pictures are somewhat deceptive, It is VERY DATED, There is NO view, it is further than 120 steps and the bed in the master bedroom is OLD and LUMPY!! The rental company was great!

The Tip-Ellen house was quite perfect for my immediate and extended family. Conveniently located between the creek side boat dock and more importantly beach access. An enjoyable kayak ride from one point to the other was about an hour and no vehicles were required. Early morning to early evening spent on the beach. Nearly every night was spent playing cards around the dinner table. Lots of dolphins, a loggerhead turtle and some other various sea life was at our fingertips.

Our stay on Pawleys Island

The location is excellent, plenty of parking area, hot water tank was a pleasant surprise (with 12 people we never ran out of hot water). The screened in deck was great. The property does need a few updates. Two mattresses were completely worn out and very uncomfortable, and the dishwasher had issues. There is a concrete trip hazard at the bottom of the stairs that caused one fall and quite a few trips. With those few updates it would be a wonderful rental.

The location was perfectly convenient while giving us some peace and quiet for a great night's sleep before the race.
