Hi Danielle, we have heard only good feedback in the short time that we have been open for business, so it is especially disheartening & surprising to read your perspective. Thank you for posting. In response--the house is originally from the 1800s but it has been fully renovated recently (including all new windows, less than a year old), in place is a meticulous cleaning regimen (as all other past guests have testified), and even though we are located in a village in the countryside & nature is all around us, I am very surprised to hear about any spiders, let alone so many that you were taken aback. They are of course around outdoors, but not in the house. Regarding the size of your room, we are very explicit in our room descriptions, down to exact square footage and furnishings per room (rather than just a bed and table, your room has also a dresser, a second smaller dresser, an area for hanging clothes, a mirror, a chair, 2 night stands with drawers, 2 reading lamps, and a full private bathroom). The window of your room looks out onto the lake side (vs. street side) of the house, and while you may have had to look past the large, very much in bloom, maple tree in the distance to get a clear view of the lake, most guests find that to be quite beautiful. Making a good impression on our guests is important to us and we will always strive to go above and beyond whether arranging a gift to be set up and ready in your room for your arrival (as we did for you upon the request of your thoughtful friend), or by making ourselves available (from check in, to dinner & breakfast, & all the time in between). We are always open to suggestions and guest requests during their stay, and I'm very sorry we weren't aware of your particular issues any sooner--we would have loved the opportunity to help you be able to leave on a more satisfied note.

Hi, thanks so much for leaving a review. We always appreciate hearing feedback! Our on site restaurant did need to be closed for Sunday Brunch service due to the inclement weather (though we remained open until 10pm Sat) ; our kitchen staff, many of whom drive over 45 min. to get here just could not safely make the commute in time. We messaged every overnight guest staying with us about this early in the morning and we posted a list of alternative dining options in the area (some walking distance) as well as a phone number where we could be reached at any time if a guest wanted to order any beverages. In addition to chips, the snack cabinet, as always, was stocked with complimentary variety of snacks (nuts, beef jerky, granola bars, dried fruit). We do not offer any kitchenettes (and are not permitted to have guests in the commercial kitchen of the restaurant) so unfortunately guests are not able to cook their own food here. Additionally, as a rule we do not go into the guest rooms during your stay without your permission or unless you have requested service. However, we do always check in with guests to see if there is anything we can get them, including fresh towels and on Sunday when the restaurant was closed, one of us did check in on The Game Room and the guests who were in there, several times. More than once we responded to requests from guests who reached out to us (either in person, or via a call to the number provided/posted) -- one for a round of cocktails, another for a bottle of wine, and another for an extra blanket. I'm sorry that our complete availability (we live right on site) to our guests and their requests wasn't made clearer by us to you. We'll be sure to communicate these things more clearly in the future. We appreciate your having chosen to stay with us and thank you again for taking the time to share your experience!
