Genesteld onder de zandstenen kliffen die de natuur uit Rocky Hollow heeft uitgehouwen, zijn de dingen rustig, gemakkelijk in de omgang en perfect voor uw vakantie weg van alles. Hier ligt Big Rock Log Cabin, weggestopt in de bergen van Kentucky, op slechts enkele minuten van Natural Bridge State Park, Red River Gorge en het Daniel Boone National Forest. Na een dag vissen, wandelen of bergbeklimmen, is Big Rock een prachtige plek om thuis te komen. Ontspan op een grote overdekte veranda, compleet met comfortabele ligstoelen en een tafel. Kom klaar om te grillen op de veranda bij de gasgrill en uit eten te gaan onder de bomen aan een picknicktafel genesteld in Big Rock Hollow. Big Rock Log Cabin nodigt u uit om te vertragen, te ontspannen en te genieten van de bezienswaardigheden en geluiden van de natuur, allemaal in het comfort van een gezellige en goed ingerichte blokhut, of achterover te leunen in een luie stoel in de eigen rockshelter van Big Rock. Big Rock Cabin is volledig ingericht met nieuw meubilair en antiek, waardoor een gezellig, comfortabel gevoel ontstaat. Alle beddengoed, dekens en handdoeken zijn gemeubileerd, zodat u alleen eten, drinken en persoonlijke spullen mee hoeft te nemen. Centrale lucht en warmte houden je op elk moment van het jaar comfortabel. Big Rock Cabin heeft een bad en een half plus een jacuzzi. Vind jij het leuk om te koken? We zijn net klaar met de nieuwe keuken in kombuisstijl die volledig is ingericht met koelkast, elektrisch fornuis, vaatwasser, magnetron, broodrooster, koffiepot en alle keukengerei die je nodig hebt om te koken, eten en drinken. Wil je niet koken? Tijdens het seizoen ligt Big Rock op slechts 5 minuten van geweldige pizza, broodjes of een volledig dinerbuffet. Dat is het mooie van Big Rock, het is overal in de buurt, maar als je de heuvelrug beklimt en Rocky Hollow inrijdt, ben je er opeens niet meer bij. Natural Bridge State Park ligt op slechts 5 minuten rijden, waar u kunt genieten van wandelpaden, een zwembad, een vismeer of een diner in de lodge van het resort. Nog vijf minuten en je bent in de Red River Gorge Geological Area en het Daniel Boone National Forest met zijn bos- en bergpaden die leiden naar enorme natuurstenen bogen en een fantastisch uitzicht op met rotsen omzoomde valleien. U kunt zelfs genieten van de paden met uw hond in het National Forest. Dit is een prachtig, onontdekt deel van de natuur waar je adembenemende uitzichten zult zien zonder hordes mensen. Er is geen stoplicht gedurende 20 mijl. Kom naar de Kentucky Mountains en verblijf in Big Rock Log Cabin. Dit is een familiecabine en niet voor feesten dus geen springbreakers alstublieft.

3 day getaway

The house was very nice and clean. Alot of room for the four of us and 1 dog. Very quiet definitely a deep in the Forrest country vibe. We had good wifi but not much cell service. Good location to go hiking, kayaking and other outdoor fun. We had a good bit of rain during our stay. But the covered porch was nice to hang out on during the storms. The only concern we had was the high grass off the side deck down to driveway and up to fire pit. But i guess that come with mountain living Other then that a great stay..

Relaxing Weekend Trip

My wife and I love John's cabin. It is close to everything and private enough to just relax and do nothing. My girls and I love hiking so we try to get at least one to two trails a day. Then come back and relax in this wonderful cabin. Thank you for another perfect trip.

Private cabin

We had a great time. Grilled on the deck. Made fires in the ring under the big rock. Went hiking. Played games. All the things families do on an outdoorsy vacation. Outdoorsy but in comfort. Everything in the cabin was in good shape, clean, and well thought out like enough charging options for electronic devices (regular outlets and USB). The cabin is in a very private setting. You can see 2 other cabins if you try hard and there are maybe a handful of cabins down this private little dead end road at the wooded bottom of a gorge. If you’re not used to hills/mountains like us chicagoans, then the last hill down to the cabin may seem a bit daunting. But it’s okay, really. I did find backing into the actual driveway uphill (rather than backing out downhill) a lot easier.

My wife and i stayed here for the weekend. It's obvious that the owner stays there sometimes because the full kitchen had all the utensils and cookware that we could need. The gas fireplace was perfect to sit next to with our glasses of wine. There is interesting folk art throughout the cabin. Outside there is a rock formation that is worth seeing itself, but it makes a perfect place sheltered from the weather for the firepit.We got a surprise ice/snow storm the morning we were supposed to leave, and we were unable to get out of the valley. The owner came with his plow, shovels, and salt and worked to get us out. He was very gracious and I was glad to have had the chance to meet him in person.We are planning on returning with our adult sons when the weather is a little warmer.

The property is a geographical wonder. Love how the house is located beside the rock wall and how they have used the outside to create unique spaces like the fire pit. It's really close to all the activities of RRG. We really enjoyed our time at Big Rock cabin.

Loved the fire pit!

We had a really great time at Big Rock cabin. Beds were comfy and the cabin was the perfect size - cozy, but not too small. We loved the fire pit area! We only sat out there one night, and wished we had the other nights as well, but the night we did was very nice. The rock cliff helped reflect some of the heat back so we stayed nice and warm. There were plenty of board games available, and we ended up playing Monopoly (for the first time in over 10 years!) on a rainy day. The road the cabin is on is pretty steep and rough, but as long as you go slow it’s not too bad, though I would caution people to be extra careful with low sitting cars.

A perfect refuge. Quiet, secluded but not far from hiking trails, restaurants and shops. The cabin walls are covered in primitive art worthy of a museum. Check in was simple and the cabin was very clean. Comfortable couches and beds. We recommend highly!

To many negatives to list ...the cabin hasn't been really cleaned in years. The shower is VERY SLIPPERY !!! I can't imagine young children not falling and getting hurt. We had to stand on the edges of the shower so we wouldn't slip and fall. The road ( for lack of a better term ) has fallen away in spots and caved in leaving 3 foot holes !!! You need an SUV to navigate the road and the steep driveway. The only plus was the porch and rock area by the fire ring. Definitely not worth $ 260.00 a night it's more like $99.00 a night. Don't waste your money !!!

Good location, great host

The cabin met all our needs. Appliances updated, bathrooms and bedding good. Ease of access and good response in slight emergency. Due to rainstorm, a tree went down and blocked our entrance. Good neighbors had it removed within an hour or so. It did also knock out our Wi-Fi, so no signal and no internet for most of the stay. Our AT&T guest was able to get cell service, but the rest of us Verizon people were not. John, our host, was very communicative and responsive. Community also very friendly and caring there. We were able to walk to our excursion at Gorge Underground in time for our reservation, despite the road blockage. Trail recommendations were FANTASTIC!!!!!
