Stayed for 3 nights in February. The castle and the Woodland Suites (where we stayed) were stunning. The staff were incredible and nothing was a hassle. Mark welcomed us immediately and gave us a very helpful tour of the property. EV charging was free to use - which is becoming increasingly rare even amongst 5* hotels. Breakfast was hearty, tasty and the service perfect. Dinner was equally great. Despite Pitlochry having options to choose from, you’re really in the best spot at Fonab and do not need to leave at all. I am loathed to criticise any part of our stay, but if I were being super critical, the spa facilities were a little tired. Though that said, there was some external refurbishment being conducted, so perhaps that is shortly extending to the interior? We were not staying to take advantage of the spa, so it didn’t bother us too much. Overall a fantastic stay.

Amazing hotel, beautiful scenery
Beautiful hotel set in amazing surroundings. Hotel facilities are excellent and the staff are kind, friendly and extremely helpful. The taste and quality of food served is exquisite. Views are breathtaking especially from the loch view rooms. The rooms are beautifully decorated with high end finishes.

Very enjoyable stay , the concierge Davie made it extra special.He was very knowledgeable and accommodating. All the staff were nice but he was exceptional. Haven’t seen that level of service in a long time.

Wonderful room and property. Spa staff and the transportation shuttle were excellent. I would have liked our restaurant experience to have been better as it was difficult to find someone to pay our tab at one point and I wasn’t able to get dish info on another occasion. Overall I’d stay at the spa again as it’s a beautiful property and is well kept.

We love visiting Fonab. The service is impeccable. Food is wonderful too. If you like walking and want to indulge in the spa too, this is the hotel for you. They were also amazing with our doggy!

Slightly disappointed
Fonab castle is an amazing hotel, never had any problems before but we had no hot water for our showers and we had to chase up our breakfast order 30 mins after we placed it. Staff are amazing and hotel is beautiful and these issues were unusual.

Beautiful location. Very average stay.
Lovely location and views but the overall experience was quite average. The service throughout was slow, slightly chaotic and disappointing. The hotel bar struggled to serve a drink at 11pm and it lacked atmosphere. Breakfast time wasn’t great - we had been sitting for 20 mins before even a glass of water was produced. My scrambled eggs were grainy, odd textured and inedible. They did provide a dog bed and treats which was nice - but dogs are not allowed anywhere else in the hotel apart from the room which we weren’t aware of. We had a Woodland lodge room as we had a dog and it was ok, the bed comfy but perhaps a little outdated. We discussed our issues at checkout and they offered to have the manager chat to us but they were unavailable but promised a call. This did not happen. Definitely not a 5* hotel and didn’t live up to the price point.

Very impressive hotel and well worth the visit. Everyone we met from their staff were very pleasant and helpful. Easy walk to the town for shopping, restaurants and pubs and close to several good golf courses. It will be high on our visit list when we come back to Scotland.

The way in which the restaurant staff have been trained and the passion and diligence that they clearly show at their is impeccable The spa staff namely Ciara Chelsea and Hannah keep the facility at the highest possible level of hygiene and are as the restaurant staff passionate and make their guests extremely welcome at the facility

The way in which the new Food and Beverage Manager is training his Brasserie staff who are all young outward going and passionate and perform their duties with the diligence that is scarce to find elsewhere in the hospitality industry in Scotland . The General Manager Mr Andrew Cook clearly oversees the running of the venue in a hands on and efficient manner and his attention to detail is evident .

Staff are trained to a standard not seen at similar venues in Scotland Dislike : The management need to scrap the practice of putting a holding charge on clients credit / debit charge on check in as this is immediately deducted from the card balance and can take up to 7 days to be re-credited : this is totally unacceptable

Amazing hotel, service was excellent. Loved the gluten free afternoon and individualised breakfast. Hot stone massage was fantastic, pool and facilities great. Room spacious and comfortable, the only problem was the heat with only a small window at the side for air.

The restaurant staff are not particularly friendly or welcoming this could be improved. We had dirty cutlery and plates each time we sat for a meal and also things missing from the table which we had to ask for such as butter. Service was slow on occasion especially if we wanted to sit outside on the patio. our lodge did not have A/C which made it quite uncomfortable, I understand there is not much need for it in the climate but they can also be used to heat the room as a 5 star hotel I think this is basic and expected. TV WIFI did not work our entire stay and we was also told a fridge would be in our room and it was not. The Concierge was outstanding and very helpful.
