Relax in one of 3 flats in the "Georg Asmussen Haus": - Swim in the surf or in the calm sea; Collect shells and stones on the fine sandy beach or take a walk on the beach; Lie in the sun on the beach - Hike and watch birds, highland cattle and wild horses; - Cycle on the numerous cycle paths along the Baltic Sea; - Maybe just relax in the beautiful garden.Welcome to this beautiful thatched house! Your holiday home "Georg Asmussen House" (old school Pommerby) was built around 1798 as a Danish school on rocks. It was used as a school until 1966. It is the birthplace of the writer, engineer and social reformer Georg Asmussen. See also the website of the municipality of Pommerby. We acquired this house in 2015 and have brought it up to a contemporary standard and retained the charm of this historic house. The holiday flats were completely renovated and rebuilt in 2015 and 2016. Each holiday flat is individually and comfortably furnished and has 2 satellite TVs (one in the living room and one in a bedroom). The new fitted kitchens are equipped with high-quality electrical appliances. The original pitch pine floorboards, which have been exposed again, radiate a cosy atmosphere. The new and comfortable seating furniture matches the style of the house very well. Here you can make yourself really cosy in front of the crackling fireplace or the TV or ... . The holiday home has a 40 m² stairwell: in addition to a wonderful view from the top floor of the stairwell over meadows and fields, there is a cleaning room and a room for the washing machine and tumble dryer, which every guest can use free of charge. In the basement of the stairwell there are two shelves with a selection of books, games, DvDs and BluRays (including 3D). Let us surprise you. WLAN, electricity, heating and water are free of charge.In the garden you will find 4 garden chairs with table and deckchairs. Guests are surrounded by flowering plants and fruit trees.From April 22 sauna in the garden.The holiday flat is ideal for 2 people. The 2-room holiday flat (approx. 50 m²) is located on the upper floor of the beautiful thatched-roof house.Pommerby - a recognised resort - is situated between the Baltic Sea and the nature reserve "Geltinger Birk". Here you can swim in the Baltic Sea, go for a walk on the beautiful sandy beach and your children can dig in the sand or collect shells. You will find a nudist beach (approx. 2 km away) and a beach guarded by the DLRG during the season (approx. 3 km away). In the nature reserve "Geltinger Birk" you can hike and observe birds (e.g. comorants, sea eagles, wild geese, great white egrets, redshanks, lapwings, dunlins,...) and unspoilt nature (highland cattle, wild horses, intertwined trees, e.t.c.). The Falshöft lighthouse (approx. 2 km away), where over 300 couples get married every year, and the Charlotte mill can be used as a starting point for interesting hikes through the Geltinger Birk. The many hiking and cycling trails through the marvellous nature along the Baltic Sea or across meadows and fields invite you to enjoy relaxing hikes and cycling tours. You will find good restaurants in Pommerby and in Gelting (3.5 km). For your daily needs you will find a bakery, butcher, post office, supermarket, pharmacy and doctors in Gelting. Sailors will find many opportunities to practise their sport here. There are marinas in Gelting, Wackerballig and Maasholm. And there is also a sailing school in Maasholm. Excursion destinations in the area - Kappeln - a cute little town on the Schlei is the starting point for excursions, also by paddle steamer. - Maasholm - a small historic fishing village. It lies at the mouth of the Schlei. - Flensburg - a town with picturesque alleyways and merchants' courtyards, historic houses and museums and a small, beautiful and central harbour not far from the very long pedestrian zone with cosy shops, pubs and good restaurants. - Glücksburg - with the interesting moated castle. - Förde Therme in Glücksburg. - Schleswig - the Viking town: Gottorf Castle with baroque garden and globe house; cathedral with the famous Brüggemann altar; old town; Holm fishing settlement; Haithabu the Viking settlement. - Unewatt Museum Village - Bismarck Tower in Quern (viewing platform) - golf courses in Glücksburg and Rabenkirchen - DenmarkHigh chair, travel cot and air cushion bed (extra bed) can also be booked. Sauna and towel sets can also be booked.Occasionally 2 older bicycles are also available. Otherwise there are at least 2 bike hire shops that will also bring the bikes to the flat.
