Villa "Bolthole"

Op de top van het kleine, dicht begroeide rotsachtige schiereiland direct aan zee staat het gezinsvriendelijke houten huis in koloniale stijl. Rondom weelderig, tropisch groen. Palmbomen, mango's, sinaasappels en papaja's zwaaien in de wind.
Niets verstoort het uitzicht op de Caribische zee. Het verandert van kleur net zo snel als de wolken over de kust bewegen. Wanneer het donker wordt, wordt het water grijs of olijf, maar schijnt de zon, het glanst azuurblauw of turkooisblauw, zoals in de vakantiebrochure. De golven breken ritselend op het platte rif en rollen dan zachtjes naar de kust. Dit unieke spektakel wordt ervaren door iedereen die op het terras van Bolthole zit, een eersteklas boxstoel.

Voel u goed, laat los en dompel uzelf onder in de Caribische vakantiewereld begint met een warm welkom van onze medewerkers. Een team van vier zorgt het hele jaar door voor het welzijn van de gasten en de zorg voor het huis en de tuin - een tuin om te ontdekken, omgeven door de magische achtergrond van de meeslepende zee, die voortdurend verandert van kleur en wilde schoonheid.

Het huis zelf, met zijn wit geverfde houten constructie, past ideaal in de natuurlijke omgeving. De lichte kamers zijn allemaal erg ruim en de slaapkamers hebben elk een eigen badkamer. Een beproefd ventilatiesysteem zorgt te allen tijde voor frisse lucht; airconditioning is in dit huis niet nodig. Ventilatoren aan het plafond van de kamers zorgen ook voor aangename koeling. Het stijlvolle interieur is aangepast aan de eenvoudige architectuur en toch is Bolthole een eersteklas en luxueuze accommodatie in de overvloed van zijn eigenschappen en uitrusting.

Het pronkstuk buiten het huis is de overdekte veranda met het zwembad met zeewater en het ongestoorde uitzicht op de open zee. Hier of op de aangrenzende stoelen en ligstoelen vindt het leven plaats van ontbijt tot diner bij kaarslicht in de milde Caribische lucht. Het privé zwem- / bootdok en zandstrand worden beschermd tegen de hoge golven door het rif. Met de kajak roeien ze samen met hun snorkelende vrienden binnen of buiten het rif.

Naast de villa "Bolthole", is het gezellige landgoed gebouwd en ingericht in dezelfde stijl op het grote landgoed. 2 slaapkamers met eigen badkamer, woon / eetkamer en een overdekte veranda bieden plaats aan 4 personen. De eerste ochtendkoffie of afternoon tea kan worden bereid in de kleine keuken.

Het huisje (appartement nr. 2870188) kan samen met de villa of apart gehuurd worden; het is even geschikt voor korte en lange vakanties.

Pictures don’t do it justice

Our family and friends had a great overall stay at bolt hole. Staff were very friendly and attentive and made great meals. Property is very clean inside and very well kept outside. Back veranda, infinity pool, hammock and view of the ocean were all outstanding. Only downside is the house is just offset from the road, so with open air shutters there’s noise from traffic and/or bar across the street into the wee hours of the morning.

Our stay was nothing less than exceptional. Joe was our chef and everything we ate was so delicious. The aesthetic of the house is vintage and definitely embodies the island vibe. The view and the grounds at the house were so beautiful. Definitely coming back here very soon!

Portland's Perfect Place

The stay at this Villa was perfect. The saltwater pool, the dock, the small beaches, the daily visit from a baby sting ray and the amazing staff all made our stay great. We had family members ranging from 6 to 80 staying on property and everyone enjoyed themselves. The best aspect was the staff, they were kind, attentive, kept the place clean and safe and fed us the most amazing food. I'd be thrilled to come back here on my next visit to Portland.

Our stay was amazing. The dock to the ocean was perfect! We loved snorkeling in the front yard and we’re surprised by how much seaside we were able to see. The pool was great. The rooms are simple but spotless. Would highly recommend this property.

1st vacation in 13 years!

As one review said the pictures don't do this place justify. It was amazing! From the house to the pool, everything was absolutely stunning. The staff, Donna, Calysha(sp), Errol and Dan were great and absolutely made the trip that more enjoyable. This was our 1st time in Jamaica and they were very helpful in every way. Thanks also to the owner for the great recommendation on transportation from and to the airport. Taryl went above and beyond, and waited for us despite a 8hr delay in our flight! We will definitely be back hopefully in a less heat-filled and rainy season though!:)

Our Dreamy Stay

What an incredible place this is. It is so much more beautiful than we imagined. The location is private and magical. Once you pull into the driveway, you are transported to a secluded oasis of tranquility and beauty. The house itself is tastefully decorated, very clean, and comfortable. The views of the ocean are incredible. You can choose to just lounge about or swim in the pool, swim and snorkel off the dock, visit the small private beach, or explore all of the beautiful parts of the property. The staff is incredibly kind and helpful. The meals that were prepared by Donna are some of the best we've had in a very long time. We are already looking forward to coming back to this magical spot.

The staff was very attentive, welcoming, and great people to be around. My family and I really enjoyed our stay at Bolthole, and would definitely return. Finding the property was rather difficult as it was our first time staying there, so look for the first hidden driveway on the left.

Hidden Gem

My family and I had a beautiful and enjoyable time here at Bolt Hole. The staff are extremely kind, hospitable, and welcoming. The home cooked authentic Jamaican meals were delicious (especially the breakfast!). The house and garden is extremely well maintained for how big it is. The staff are very thorough in cleaning the entire home. Every morning the staff come in early to clean the leaves from the pool and the property, dust the communal area which is not easy given how big the property is. The wifi is a little spotty but understandable given the location. These accommodations are meant for those who love nature (one thing to note, there isn't AC in the house so it may not be the right fit for those who aren't used to fans and the natural sea breeze to stay cool). The home is carefully tucked away which is great because its so secluded and safe but also may be tough to find when you first arrive. The mosquito nets over the beds didn't work as well as we would have hoped but that's ok. Overall, my family really loved the salt water pool, the relaxing vibe, the property is breathtaking and the staff were really what made the stay special.

I booked last minute deciding that the above- average price would be worth it as the villa looked amazing and we really wanted 4 bedrooms. Unfortunately when we arrived we were told we could only access 2 bedrooms (which I was completely unaware of at the time of booking) which made it a very expensive stay. The cook told us what time we could eat rather than giving us a choice of times which was irritating and whilst the meals were tasty, they were not the best. The property is beautiful and the location is great, just a shame it was so expensive

What a lovely villa!

Bolthole is a stunning property in a beautiful location directly on the sea, with its own beach as well as a little jetty for swimming and snorkelling. It offers a good deal of privacy, but it is only a short drive (or walk to Port Antonio). The property manager, Yvonne, was very responsive and the staff were all charming, helpful and professional. The meals prepared by Donna were delicious! Bedrooms were all comfortable and the overall ambiance of the place is perfect for a relaxing seaside holiday. All in all, a delightful stay!

Donna and Yvonne were so friendly and very helpful in anything we needed during the day. Errol was helpful at night. Very clean, beautiful view. The only flaw, we weren't aware we didn't have access to every single room in the villa, but we made it work. Just would've been nice to have a heads up. Other than that, would go back again!!!

My family and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay! The villa is beautiful and there are so many different places on the property to take in all the spectacular views. The staff was kind and accommodating! I would absolutely stay here again. My only critique is that the Wifi was practically nonexistent, causing me to use my data the entire time I was there. Other than that my group and I had no complaints!

Go With The Flow

Bolt Hole Villa is beautiful property with a great staff. We were lucky enough to spend 11 nights here during the current world health crisis. Although we were not able to visit some of the spots we had hoped due to some government imposed health restrictions, we had a great time hanging around the house and enjoying the view. If you are looking to totally unwind and relax, eat delicious home cooked Jamaican food and enjoy some cold Red Stripes, now is the perfect time to visit.

Perfect family retreat on waterside

Absolutely delighted to be here and know we can come back. House is spacious, well designed and comfortable. Had everything we needed. Most of our time was spent on the verandah overlooking the ocean and infinity pool ( salt water). Staff are great, meals well prepared!
