Because of the area’s elevation (around 270 metres), breathtaking views are the norm, making it wonderful for exploring by foot or bike. Nearby trails include the Mortimer Trail (7 miles) and Offa’s Dyke (3 miles), with scenic gems like Wigmore Castle and Croft Ambrey (11 miles) along the way. Kington (7 miles) is celebrated for its Hergest Croft Gardens, while Ludlow (16.5 miles) has a medieval castle and an atmospheric market. A little further away is Hay-on-Wye (18 miles), famous for its bookshops and the gateway to the Brecon Beacons National Park.
