I took my wife here for her birthday, and overall she had a great time, which was the most important thing to me. However, I have to be honest about how frustrating the room situation was.
We originally booked Serenity Bay because we wanted a quieter, more relaxing experience. When we arrived, we were informed that Serenity Bay had been overbooked and we were being moved to Costa Bavaro. While the staff told us we were being "upgraded" to a Unique room, that wasn't really the case. We were placed in a Unique room but did not receive the amenities, perks, or benefits that are supposed to come with the Unique experience. Being told you're getting an upgrade and then not actually receiving what was promised was extremely disappointing, especially on a special birthday trip.
The good news is that once we got past that frustration, there were a lot of positives. We walked over to Serenity Bay and immediately saw the peaceful atmosphere we originally wanted. The beach was beautiful, the food was excellent, and the steakhouse was one of the highlights of the trip. The staff throughout the resort were amazing—friendly, helpful, and always willing to assist. The entertainment was great, there was always something going on, and the property was very clean and well-maintained. Bar service was quick, restaurant wait times were short, and overall the resort offered a fun experience.
