I’ve been to DR several times and this was the first time I stayed at this resort with my son for my niece’s birthday. The experience was terrible. We arrived to the resort early; at the time early check in was not an option which was fine. However, my sister wasn’t able to get into her room till way after the scheduled check in time. We came from NY with a small cake after calling to see if that was ok. The concierge on the phone let us know it was okay to bring the cake and that they would store it for us till it was needed. That was a lie! We got there and they gave us the run around until the cake finally melted and fell over which at that time they let my us know they don’t usually hold cakes because they sell their own. After that, they made us sign a waver and said they would keep the cake. In addition to that after checking in, you are told to go to guest services to let them know you have a birthday so that they can set up a character call for the birthday child and arrange for a birthday banner and cupcake to be delivered to the room. None of those things happened on my niece’s birthday until I finally raised hell and asked to speak to a manager. It all took place post convo with the manager towards the end of the day. To add onto the list of problems that occurred, they give you the run around when it comes to booking dinner reservations. There is no communication between all the staff that work there & even worst a lot of the staff are unfriendly. 0/10 recommend.
