Super Service und tolle Architektur
Wir sind nach einer langen Anreise um ca. 9 Uhr morgens angekommen und haben direkt ein Zimmer bekommen und sogar noch ein Frühstück. Das Frühstück ist einfach aber gut. Die Besitzerin ist sehr freundlich und stets hilfsbereit. Die Lage ist perfekt. Ich würde jederzeit wieder dort unterkommen.

Charming small hotel in Old Town Quito
Very nice, cozy little hotel in a very old building in Old Town Quito. Owner/manager and staff are very friendly and helpful.

Un lugar muy céntrico, en el centro de la historia, cerca de todo lo que uno quiere ver. La hospitalidad de Sonia y de su gente de trabajo son espectaculares.. gracias por recibirnos y atendernos tan cariñosamente y muy bien.

The people there were a bit disorganized. I’d ask for something and they would forget. Didn’t have our reservation when we arrived. Later our room was changed. I like their taxi driver a lot, Efren. He was very helpful. I was charged the same amount the last night even though I did not go through booking.com. I don’t think that was very honest.

This small hotel oozes with charm. Beautifully decorated with antique furniture and live plants. Hot breakfast included. The rooms and property in general were immaculate. The manager was very helpful in arranging a day tour of Quito with Diego as our guide. Short walking distance to sites in historic old town.

Sentimos mucho, que haya tenido frio en Quito no acostumbramos a tener calefaccion, pero ahora lo tendremos en cuenta, por el internet me parece muy raro primera vez que sucede eso mil disculpas estaremos pendientes. Que tenga una buena tarde.

The location was good but the hotel is in need of repair and a maintenance. The bathroom walls and floor were filthy. The building is historical but regular cleaning and maintenance would improve the venue. I would not recommend this hotel as there are several others in the area that are superior and at the same cost.

Wonderful location in old town. 200 year old converted convent with many original fixtures and decorations. The staff went out of their way to help us. They speak very good English. A very nice full breakfast is included.

The staff at the hotel are wonderful! The place is cozy and welcoming and we loved the breakfast and evening meals including excellent wood fired pizza! We would recommend this hotel to people who want a homey inexpensive hotel in the heart of old town Quito

Outstanding location, kind staff, must be fit (no elevator), a former convent where you can hear water running in other rooms. Locations trumps its mi it flaws.

Interesting hotel in Quito old town
The hotel is in the Quito old town. The building used to be an old convent. The owner gave us a quick tour of the property. The breakfast was very good. There are a lot of restaurants in the neighbourhood. Overall a very good experience.

Charming, interesting history, great location
This 200-year-old convent turned hotel is beautiful and in the centre of the Centro Historico in Quito, great location for walking around that neighbourhood and checking out many of the key spots. The room was a little loud as there was a window into the main hotel space next to one of the beds, but it's a very small hotel so there wasn't too much activity to disturb us. Otherwise, the room was clean and comfortable but very basic.The staff were very helpful and let us store our bags for free the next day even after we had checked out, and arranged for a ride to the airport for us. The included breakfast was also lovely. There was also Wifi but it was slow and spotty (as I would expect in this type of hotel anyway).

Such a wonderful hotel, and the staff is a lovely family! Dinner and breakfast were delicious. The location is perfect, right in the historic city. Wish we could have stayed longer!

Very well located hotel in the centro historico
The hotel in a colonial house in Quito's centro historico is interesting and couldn't be better located. The family and staff who run it were delightful and very kind and helpful. A drawback was that the restaurant where breakfast was served, was open to the outside and so chilly it was difficult to enjoy the good breakfast that was provided. The room we occupied, had no window to the outside and as a result was somewhat claustrophobic and was also very chilly (but this is not unusual for the area). Generally a good experience.

Great place to experience historic Quito
This guesthouse is a restored abbey, steps from Plaza de San Francisco. The common areas are spacious and luxurious--filled with beautiful antiques, stained glass, etc. The rooms are a bit spartan, but clean and comfortable. The innkeepers are friendly, helpful, and speak good English. A delicious hot breakfast (choice of eggs with pastries, fruit, coffee, and juice) is served each morning.

what an amazing place to stay!!!
This was, without a doubt, one of the nicest places that I have ever stayed. The Hotel itself is amazing, the staff and food are amazing. The location is amazing. There is nothing more that one should be able to ask for in life than to get an opportunity to stay at a place like this at some point in life. A truly inspiring experience. Ideal location, charming colonial mansion.
Lovely, authentic, full of traditional furniture and antiques, in old colonial building. The public areas are delightful and comfortable: it is like being in someone's home (which it is) rather than a hotel. Sonya and the rest of her staff were very accommodating and helpful, arranging for an early morning taxi-ride to the airport ($26) and laying out a 5am breakfast for me. Location is absolutely ideal and in the Centro Historico, within walking distance of most of the major sites.

Welcoming in Quito
This is a small hotel in a perfect location that takes the word "guest" in the most literal way. It's like going home to family, partly because it is family run and mostly because of the hospitality shown. The breakfast is superb and bountiful. The rooms around an atrium are comfortable with flowering plants at the windows. You will not be disappointed.

Excellent boutique hotel in old town
Sonia and her staff are amazing. From the 1 am check-in to the fresh breakfast (different fresh squeezed juice each morning), to the ample sitting areas in the hotel, our 4 night stay was great. It was like staying at your Auntie's, all relaxed and comfortable. The location right next to Iglesia San Francisco is very convenient for visiting the many churches and museums in the old part of the city. We will most definitely stay again.

Portal del Catuña was amazing!!! The hotel is beautiful and the staff is so warm and accomoadating. Breakfast every morning is wonderful with amazing fresh fruit and coffee. I will definitely stay here again when I go back to Quito.

Great 1 day stay
I booked this for my mom and I to stay just one night as we were heading out of Quito back to Cuenca. I like to pick smaller, unique places. This one fit that bill. The place was a great older casa in the heart of Historic town. The room was nice, average size with bathroom. It really was the rest of the house and the staff (owners) that make this a special place. They have the place decorated with antiques and some really neat pieces. The breakfast area down stairs was a really nice surprise. Really set up nicely. The breakfast set up my mother loved. We had a couple of warm rolls, butter and jam, eggs any style, fruit which was so good and juice, and choice of coffee, tea and hot chocolate. Lovely meal and really sweet people making it. The owner and his mother wee kind and so helpful to us. Our bus to the airport never arrived and he stayed right with us and phoned them several times. Finally he got us a taxi, We will defiantly stay here again if in Quito and will tell others. Thank you for the wonderful Care. Also the owners mother gave me a cute little pair of earrings. Love them.

Cannot say enough about this gem perfectly located to walk around all of old town. The warm and welcoming atmosphere created by this family owned hotel is second to none! From Checkin to checkout all our needs were met, from great breakfasts to booking Personalized side trips, as well as the care taken to show this boutique hotel with the history it deserves. We will recommend this hotel and a visit to Quito to everyone

A home from home - would definitely stay again
Had such an amazing time at Portal de Cantuña. The family are so friendly and such lovely people. The location could not have been better. Our stay in Quito would have been completely different (no where near as good) had we stayed anywhere else!

Charming historic boutique hotel
I have been excited to return to the computer so I could make this review. This hotel is truly outstanding--and economical. The location is right in historic Quito. It is an old home that has been renovated to a hotel, but that doesn't do it justice. The decor is wonderful, full of antiques and charm, including some terrific art pieces (that can be bought). The renovations include an ecological approach--the water heating is solar and some of the decor is made of recycled materials. There is a little balcony which looks out over the city--which was breathtaking since there were special Christmas decorations at the time. We sat there and had a couple of glasses of wine. But mostly, the staff went over the top to help us find things in Quito, take us to them and organize for us. We were there for Christmas and New Year's and the meals were terrific.We had to take a flight out at 6 am so had to get up at 3. They woke us up and gave us breakfast!!! We felt part of the family. They were enormously respectful of us yet seemed to cater to our every need. IT IS WONDERFUL!! This may sound like hyperbole but there didn't seem to be any other way to express our unexpected delight.
