comfortably close to centre
well recieved at arrival, easy progress to room offering good level of comfort and decor. Pity a dirty cracked window, then highlighting dirt around the edges.A good overnight experience. breakfast offered good range, well presented but hot food was no more than warm. We were a bit concerned that security doors for which we given a key,were often wedged open to all who used the building giving access to the bedroom doors.

Man skal ikke altid dømme på det ydre...
Hotellets ydre er direkte frastødende, og man tænker straks at her vil man ikke bo, men... Når/hvis man overvinder denne første oplevelse og alligevel vælger at gå indenfor, bliver man mødt af en helt anden oplevelse, nemlig et helt igennem ok hotel, med nogle små men nydelige værelser, og en skøn morgenmads buffet. Dynerne var rigtigt gode, specielt efter 2 uger i USA, uden "danske dyner". Vores opfordring til hotel ejeren er, at man skal få gjort facaden mere indbydende, så det indre og det ydre stemmer overens. Med de bedste hilsner Familien Kold

4th Floor was a nice place to stay
Nothing fancy, just comfortable and friendly. A chanage for north americans its smaller in size but its enough. Internet was down for a few days while we were there, not a big deal but we were there for a computer game convention. They did their best in making things work. Good breakfast. 8 or so blocks from right downtown but nice walking distance. more then willing to help. I would stay again.

We will come back there!
Though from outside the hotel doesn't look very attractive, the room we stayed in was great. We were a family of 3 (2 adults and a 4 year old) and our triple room with two walls covered in windows was great - tidy, basic but modern, and with all necessary facilities. The breakfast in the downstairs bar was very nice with a standard continental choice of foods. Hotel staff were superb - really friendly and helpful with any questions about excursions. They treated our little one with something every day - a bunch of grapes, a milkshake, a piece chocolate. The location of the hotel is great as well - right in the downtown at the end of the main restaurant/bar/shop street. And finally the price was very good too, though we were travelling in low season.

This is a convenient central hotel. We stayed in the standard rooms which were very standard. Then we had to stay another night due to cancelled flights, and we stayed in a superior room - the staff were kind enough to upgrade us for free as the standard rooms were twin and we wanted a double. The superior rooms (on second floor) are very big, clean as well. internet provided as well. there is also car hire desk at the hotel if you need it. I would stay here again.

6 Day stay in Reykjavik
This hotel was perfectly fine for my 6 nights, not a 5 star but 3 stars are okay. I loved the fact that I could walk and see the city sites without going miles and miles. The staff were very helpful and friendly and if I was to go back to Reykjavik I would stay here.

Overall a good experience.
It's a little out of the way of the main road in Rekjavik which is bad but it's also good because it's quiet. Away from all the roudy nightlife. The breakfast was tasty. The staff was nice. We actually got an upgraded room for some unknown reason and ended up in a studio apartment. It was also only s short walk to the car rental place. Overall a pretty nice place.

The best about this hotel is the personel. Breakfast is good, the location works perfectly if you like to be right in downtown and on Laugavegur st. which as a tourist you practicaly live there.

Great place to stay in Reykjavik
I stayed at the newly renovated apartments and they were awesome. The beds were well made, the living/dining area well stocked. The TV had over 100 channels and there was free WiFi available in the rooms. The parking garage was a little congested and hard to find spots on the weekends, but there's street parking available with free weekend parking right outside the apartments. The location is also quite close from downtown and there is a bus station right by. The staff were very friendly and helpful too.

Beliggenheten var fin med kort avstand til det meste! Rommene var små og det var ikke toalett/dusj på rommet, dette trodde vi var etablert standard på alle hotell i Norden! Personalet var hjelpsomme og imøtekommende!

Our room was really gross--especially the bathroom which had collections of hair and other nasties in all the corners. Bathroom lighting was insufficient. The "mood lighting" was broken and so only acted like a regular light, on or off. The TV picture quality was horrible and basically unwatchable. There were throw pillows which obviously could not be cleaned between patrons on the beds. YUCK!! Their were no bathrobes in our room even though they were a listed amenity. Two lamps were broken in our room. The internet signal they provided us was not strong enough to reach our room and we were told we were out of luck. The staff was either indifferent, or obviously annoyed by our inquiries. Street noise was loud. No heated towel racks in the bathroom. Beds were comfortable. Breakfast was alright. Location was good for the main shopping street. We had to catch an early morning flight and they provided us with a take-away bagged "breakfast" of sandwich, yogurt, juice and apple. I am very glad that I had the best company in the world, or else this hotel could have really put me in a bad mood!

4th floor hotel - luxury camping
I recently stayed at the 4th floor hotel in Reykjavik, in a single room which was tiny. Yes, I knew that I would have to share a bathroom/shower, but as I hadn't done this since my youth hostel & campiing days, I was uncomfortable. The sink in my room was so small I could barely wash my face in it. Hotel staff was friendly but not from Iceland, and not only I but others experienced mix-ups with the rooms and reservations (whom I saw while hanging out in the lobby in order to get WiFi to use my iPad). Even though the price was decent compared to the rest of the hotel scene in Reykjavik, I would not recommend this hotel unless you just needed a break from your camping trip. D from Washington State

Beliggenheten er fin, hotellrommet var greit og frokosten bra - standard som passer i hht 3 stjerner. Men, på badet, i alle kraner, en vedvarende kloakklukt så intens at du vemmes av å ta en dusj. Aldri opplevd lignende. Kan ikke anbefales.

The 4th floor hotel är centralt beläget. Servicen är god och frukosten till belåtenhet. Något trånga rum, men det var av ringa betydelse.

Very small room - quite unclean
We booked a last minute stay here because we finished our hike early and needed a place to stay in town. The hotel location is not terrible, a bit far away but within walking distance. The rooms, however, are very small and not clean. We had to sleep on our sleeping bags because the sheets were visibly dirty and the shower leaked all over the bathroom floor. We would not recommend this hotel and were quite frustrated by its 3-star rating on hotels.com.... wish we could have gotten our money back.

The room was clean and had a small balcony with view over the water. Two bathrooms on the hall. No problem with availability. Breakfast pretty standard. All in all a very fair hotel.

It depends on what you are looking for...
if you're looking for comfort in a quiet house and tend to spend quite some time in the hotel, i wouldn't recommend it to you. especially room 207, which has an "ac-pipe" running straight through the room, and because of that is pretty noisy (night and day). if you want a pretty cheap (for icelandic standards) hotel room with free wi-fi, free parking lot (if available), and very near to the center, but not too near so you would get annoyed by the many, many parties that happen in downtown reykjavik on the weekends, then this is your hotel of choice. breakfast is alright, lots of stuff to choose from. helpful and friendly staff, i would stay there again, but not in room 2007 ;-)

Staff very helpful, courteous, and friendly. Room small but very adequate. But I knew this before I arrived. Hotel clean, breakfast excellent. Located near the centre of Reykavick. Close to all the places I wanted to see. Would go back there.

Vi hadde en flott leilighet, ikke noe å utsette på den. I tillegg hadde vi et dobbeltrom som var noe slitent: Fikk nesten ikke igjen verandadøren og på badet luktet det ille... råte? Bortsett fra dette var rommet ok.... Servicen var upåklagelig, de ansatte stod på for at vi skulle trives. God frokost, masse deilig frukt, frokostblandinger, grovt og fint brød, rikt utvalg av pålegg. SUM: Dobbeltrommet trakk ned, ellers var alt bra(+) til å være 3-stjernes hotell. Beliggenheten var super og vi ble ikke plaget av støy fra gaten. Anbefaler leilighet framfor dobbeltrom...

Good breakfast but extremely small room
The location was really good, the people at the front desk were wonderful and the breakfast was very good but the room was so incredibly small that we would not recommend it. The inside berth on the ferry from Oslo to Copenhagen was bigger and more comfortable than our room at this hotel! If you're looking for a good location, then this is a great place. But if you're spending more than a night or two and you want a good night sleep, I would suggest looking for another place.

Situated very close to the main shopping area in downtown Reykjavik, and adjacent to the Hlemmur Bus Terminus, the 4th Floor Hotel is very conveniently located and easy to get to. The staff is very friendly and the rooms are comfortable and tidy. The place has a "small-family" feel about it. There are several restaurants in walking distance and a grocery store across the street that stays open late.

Well Worth the Price, Great Location
The hotel is well located just off the main commercial street in Reykjavik, within walking distance to Perlan, the Church, and the Bus station. The rooms are small, even by European standards, but one would plan to spend a lot of time in the room anyways. I stayed in the Economy Single room with a shared bathroom. If this is the market you are in, the shared bathroom will do. The shared bathroom is the exact same as one in the private rooms, except located in the center of the hall. The hotel also features a good breakfast. The location of the hotel would overrule other downsides, as it provides easy walking distance to the center, but without the noise associated with it.

The staff was very nice but the roome was build of bits not well constructed (imbricated shower built on top of each other !!?!?, sink was falling from the wall, the toilet sit broken .... ) .... go somewhere else it's too expensive for the price.

Very positive upon arrival, very friendly staff. Breakfast surprisingly good breakfast considering the 3 stars. Very good value for money , quite good location at the end of the mainroad in Reykjavik. Rent a car for 7000 kr per day and drive around!

Pleasant Stay
Everyone way helpful at this hotel, they were quick to make recomendations about the local area and assisted us in organise our excursions. The hotel was good value for money and convinently located. The breakfast was great and really kept us going until the evening. The negatives- The hotel is in a building shared with other businesses such as a dentists and a dressmaker, this feels a little odd but has no real effect on the stay. The shower was luke warm in room 202 although this was most probably an issue with this room only the sink had very hot water. The water from the bathroom is not drinkable, although when the restarant is open you can pop down to for free drinkable tap water. The rooms were not cleaned as regularly as I am used to and the bed was not made or washed during our 4 day stay. However none of these things caused any significant problem and I would certainly recommend this hotel.

Vi kan virkelig anbefale 4th floor hotel. Beliggenheten var topp, bodde over gaten fra den største handlegaten i Reykjavik. Når vi kom med flybuss ble vi sluppet av rett foran hotellet, vi ble hentet rett utenfor, og når vi skulle på ulike utflukter ble vi også hentet og kjørt tilbake. Rommet var koselig, badet var flott. Rengjøringen var bra og folkene som jobbet på hotellet var kjempehyggelige. Frokosten var bra,men kunne vært bedre. Litt lite å velge i. Alt i alt var 4th floor et flott og billig hotell som vi kan anbefale til alle.

Hotellet ligger sentral i Reykjarvik. Bare å gå rett over gaten så er du i hovedgaten( shoppinggaten) Hyggelig betjening og god frokost. Fint rom (leilighet) med eget kjøkken, oppvaskmaskin, micro ovn, vaskemaskin og tørketrommel. Dette var egentlig ikke et hotellrom, men en liten leilighet.

Fantastic service & recommendations!!
Great service from front desk! Friendly and very helpful! Not the best rooms, but you don't spend much time in there so it does the trick. Your in the middle of downtown and almost all tours/day trips will pick you up from hotel. I would recommend to anyone.

The placing of the hotel is ok. The general standard was ok. The bathroom was not ok, tiles on the floor was loose and there was clear indications on water leaks. When you shoverd much of the water ended up around the door.

Grei standard og overraskende god frokost!
Hotellet var av grei standard, som en kunne forvente ut fra beskrivelsen på Hotels.com. Den store overraskelsen kom til frokost. Vi forventet en typisk hotellfrokost med kjedelig lyst brød, ost, skinke og oversukret syltetøy og ble i stedet møtt med både varm og kald anretning, nydelige brød og rundstykker, frisk frukt, frokostblanding, yoghurt og et stort utvalg av juice, te og god kaffe.

Excellent location in town. Near to the shoreline and restaurant strip. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Free access to Wi-iFi. We were able to check in at 8.30 am and given access to our room. Departure from hotel was at 5.00 am. We received a wakeup call on time at 4.00 am and given "breakfast to go". Arranged tour and airport transfers and car hire through the front desk.
