El Palacio Rosa: Pink Palace 4BR Beachfront, Pool

The Pink Palace at El Palacio Rosa is a 4-bedroom, 3-bath home over two levels on Carib Bight, on the quiet east end of Roatán. 4,600 square feet, sleeps 13.



The top floor holds the primary suite and opens onto a deck with the best sunset view on the property — the bay runs due west, and the sun drops down the middle of it most nights. Three more bedrooms sit on the level below, connected by an internal stairwell, with private balconies on both levels and three full baths. Two full kitchens, one on each level. Air conditioning in the bedrooms, fiber WiFi, smart TVs. Free parking on the property.



At 4,600 square feet, thirteen people have room to spread out, which is why this is usually taken by two families travelling together or a dive group that wants its own house.



The property includes an infinity pool over the bay, a dock, a sandy beach, kayaks and paddleboards, and a skiff available after a short orientation with a contribution for gas. The skiff runs the protected inshore passage east through the mangroves toward Jonesville and Oak Ridge with no open-water crossing. Off the dock: three reefs and the Roly Poly, a WWII naval cargo ship grounded here in 1945 and shallow enough to snorkel. Mangrove tunnels pirates used 400 years ago are a short paddle away.



La Rosa, the dockside restaurant and bar at El Palacio Rosa, is on the property and open most days and nights. Private breakfasts, group dinners and meal plans can be arranged in advance, which is worth doing for a group this size. La Rosa Dive & Fish is the property’s own dive shop, for guests only — tanks, lockers, rinse, showers, air fills for a small fee, and deep sea fishing charters. PADI certification can be arranged through local instructors. Over 30 dive sites within 15 minutes of the dock. Island tours including ziplines and the sloth and monkey sanctuaries pick up at the property. Restaurant, dive, fishing and tour services are priced separately. Laundry is $4 a load.



Carib Bight is about 30 minutes from Roatán International (RTB). The highway down the east side of the island was a wreck for years and is now paved all the way to Carib, with Blue Lagoon Road paved to within about twenty yards of the house. It used to mean a 4x4 and a beating for your suspension, which kept a lot of people on the west end. It is an easy drive now in whatever you rent. Away from the cruise terminals and the West Bay strip.



Checkout is simple. Put your trash in the bin, leave the dishes in the sink, and go. Leave whatever food you have in the fridge — it goes to Jorge and his family, not the trash. We handle the rest, laundry included. No stripping beds, no checklist.



Please note: the Bay Suite, a separate 2-bedroom apartment below the house, may be occupied by another party. To have the property with no other overnight house guests, book the Resort Takeover listing instead. La Rosa is open to the public, so expect other diners at the dock and background music most evenings, with a live band or DJ a couple of times a month. There are stairs on the property, with steep ramps at a few points. Resident dogs live on the property as part of our H.A.S. (Honduran Alarm System), which is why guest pets can’t be accommodated. Jorge, our on-site manager since 1998, is available 8am–5pm Monday through Saturday and around the clock for emergencies.
