A personal vehicle is recommended for exploring the area.
When coming up on 330, you'll make a left on to Live Oak Drive and then keep a sharp eye out as you'll make a left onto the driveway that slopes down from the street.
If coming up the mountain on Highway 18, as you get close to the turn on Live Oak, keep a sharp eye out. The turn is an extreme hard right. Once on Live Oak, as you get close to the cabin, it is also a hard right. My recommendation is to go past the cabin just a bit - which sits below the street level - to the next street on the left - Ferndale - and take a left and turn around to come back up Live Oak and make a left into the driveway. OR, go slightly past the driveway, put your flashers on, and then back into the driveway.
If you'd like to get out for a walk, just be aware there are no sidewalks but there is very little traffic so once crossing over the main road you can walk in the middle of the road to take your dogs out or get some fresh air.
NOTE - During the snow season (typically November to March), an AWD or 4WD vehicle is highly advised. Tire chains are required to be carried in your vehicle during this period and you may be stopped and asked to show them. You can purchase a set before heading up the mountain and return them if they go unused.
Occasional road noise can be heard when outside on the front and back decks or if you have a window open.
WINTER - During snow season, November to March, you’ll need an AWD/4WD and chains are required. While only needed maybe 2-3 times during the season, if stopped you will need to show them. You can pick up a set before heading up the mountain and return if unused.
Stairs up to loft bedroom are a little steep but there is a railing for your safety. I like to go down the stairs while facing them and holding the railing.
