Excellent in every respect apart from ability to get a drink during the day. Small fridge in room would solve the issue. Restaurant excellent and major improvement on our last visit 10 years ago.

We stayed in the separate accommodations near the pond. Quite unique and beautiful. Staff was great, the grounds are beautiful, and the dinner was among the best we had in France. Staff was delightful. Would definitely go back.

Magnifique et calme
Magnifique vue avec coucher de soleil de la chambre. Magnifique propriété. Grande chambre avec climatisation. Calme sans télévision. Adaptation au régime pour le petit déjeuner. Nous aurions préféré une couette plutôt qu’une couverture.

Je suis heureux que vous ayez passé un agréable séjour. Je suis vraiment désolé pour la coupe des arbres du parking situé à 200 mètres de La Chartreuse, ils ont commencé à 8h à cause des fortes chaleurs...cela n'arrive que tous les 3 ans ! Quant au bruit dans un couloir, nous avons tout fait pour isoler les chambres, mettre un tapis amortisseur mais au XVII siécle la constructeur n'a pas prévu de pouvoir poser une dalle de béton...c'est un des inconvénients en contre partie du charme d'une vieille bâtisse. J'espère avoir le plaisir de vous accueillir à nouveau à la Chartreuse du Bignac Jean Louis Viargues Propriétaire

The property is extremely private and very well kept. The reason I have marked it down is the lack of signage to direct you there. My Lexus satellite did not recognize the road and it took 5 calls and 40 minutes to get to the property. The setting of thevretaurantvwascexquisite and the food although expensive is certainly gastronomique but short of 1 Star Michelin status. It is no more than 5 km from Bergerac airport so if it is a very quiet , private and tranquil, this may we’ll be perfect for you..

Thank you for your compliments.I will pass on to the team. I am sorry it took such a long time to find us. We are in a remote site among hills and vineyards. Normally GPS conducts you in our courtyard. As far as the signs are concerned, we have a strict environmental regulation in our department that limits the number of road signs to 3.Despite that situation we are supposed to have more than 10 signs on the road around the property.I will check if they are still all in place. This property far exceeded our expectations. It is absolutely beautiful, inside and out. Our room was lovely and serene; the air conditioning was a welcome amenity as we arrived during an intense heat wave. The pool was wonderful, with amazing views of the valley. The grounds and gardens are exquisite. The restaurant, where we had a delicious fresh breakfast, offers patio seating with sweeping views. The staff were friendly and helpful. Everything about this place was first rate.

We chose this hotel as it was close to the airport on the day before our flight home. We had a very nice reception and had a tour of the hotel and shown tour our very spacious and comfortable room. We spent a couple of hours lazing by the pool before going for dinner. The food was wonderful and we were glad to try new dishes prepared by the excellent chef. My only disappointment was that we did not arrive earlier to enjoy the incredible views by the poolside.

No stone left unturned-a stay to remember always
Beautiful setting, impeccably designed room and bath with no comfort detail lacking. Bucolic scene from the swimming pool adds to the overall relaxing atmosphere as one’s access to the owners’ library. Food was delicious. I can not recommend more highly.

Very nice hotel - except on Tuesday!
We stayed here because all other reviews on this site were 5*. However, we arrived on a Tuesday in 35 deg heat, and since the restuarant is closed on Tuesdays, there is no way to purchase a meal or cold drink. So we had to leave immediately to go and find a cold beverage and dinner. Since the hotel is in a country location, you must drive at least 10-15 km to find restuarants and bars.Be aware that on Tuesday this is self-catering accomodation, not a hotel. Apart from this, everything is great and the other 5* reviews are accurate.

Three days of bliss
Travelling as a group of four with two cars we followed the sat nav to the address given by Expedia..... wrong. A few local enquiries and we found this house nestled atop a hill with views over the valley. It is then that you meet this hotel's greatest asset, Alice (I apologise if I have it wrong). A tour of the house and then our room, given in perfect English and the scene was set. A huge room with a small window overlooking the lake, limed beams and very nice bathroom. No TV, thank goodness and then the silence hits you. A splendid pool and a formal dining room serving very well prepared food, beautifully presented, the lobster starter deserves mention. Breakfast cakes are not recommended for slimmers! Ideal for exploring local villages and markets, the local countryside is beautiful. We had booked for three nights and I was very reluctant to leave. The house is quiet, peaceful and unhurried. The owner wanders around doing what owners do and greets you in French and English. We in response did similar, we speak schoolboy French. A black cat that follows and greets and a big old dog. Gardeners tending the beautiful grounds and plum trees surrounding the far end of the estate. Alice appears just at the correct time and asks if there is anything that you require, she has the most endearing nature. I have travelled extensively and encountered very few more relaxing venues.

Challenging to find without a GPS, but had a very happy stay. The way this old chateau has been remodeled is amazing, especially the view of the original roof timbers in the bedrooms. Their restaurant is fantastic.

The hotel is in a beautiful location and we very much enjoyed being able to put the children to bed and enjoy a fine dining experience on the lawn just outside our room, thank you! The owners and staff are very welcoming. We can definitely recommend a stay here, thank you.
