Mooi en verzorgd hotel met goede keuken
Perfecte plek om enkele dagen te relaxen en je te laten verwennen. Ondanks dat dit een zeer groot complex is, valt het al bij al mee qua drukte omdat ze goed hebben nagedacht over de locatie van de verschillende zwembaden/restaurants. Het buffet was zeer lekker en zeer gevarieerd (we lazen op voorhand enkele negatieve commentaren...diegene die hier nog klachten over hebben zijn wel enorm veeleisend en hyper verwend....). We hebben alle dagen verse vis kunnen eten die voor onze neus werd klaargemaakt, honderden bijgerechten dus qua eten zit je perfect. Enigste minpunten waren de 2 a la carte restaurants die wel teleurstellend waren. Helemaal niet de moeite om deze te boeken, vooral de Italiaan is ondermaats. Mooie zwembaden en zeer verzorgde wandelpaden/terrasjes (wel heel veel muggen op de kamers, ik heb er 40 doodgemept de eerste dag...nadien 5-tal per dag zodat we toch rustig konden slapen). Algemeen: zeer aangename verblijfplaats maar op Sal zelf weinig te doen (door zandstorm zaten wij vast op Sal en konden niet naar Boa Vista)

The beach here is amazing, hotel seems quite full but plenty of space for all the guests across different pools and the beach. The beach is something for a post card, great sand clear water. Hotel is really relaxing with things to do for all.

Die Lage des Sol Dunas war mit dem direkten Strandzugang perfekt um zwischen Meer ubd Poollandschaft zu wechseln. Die Anlage bietet alles was man benötigt und lässt keine Wünsche (Sportangebote, Kinderclub für verschiedene Altersgruppen etc.) für Erwachsene und Kinder offen.

Stivan, was very good and helpful from beginning to end. MOST employees were very helpful, but had same issue Again, with woman behind desk trying to call us out for late check out, when we solved the issue. By extending check out early this morning to have no problems, but they tried to embarrassed us again, wow second time, on second trip to property, I must not fit the profile.

We got a very good price for this property. The service was quite good. The only thing I would complain about is that the buffet was a bit limited and it wouldn't change that much from day to day. Also the quality of some dishes was a bit questionable. For such a big resort, the gym was quite small and most of the machines were not working. They offer a transfer to go to Santa Maria, however, there is one a day and it's shared with the other Meliá hotels nearby, so very few seats are available for people staying at Sol Dunas. Also, there is no transfer to go back to the hotel...

Das Sol Dunas ist die größte 5Sterne Hotelanlage Afrikas. Leider leidet unter der Fokussierung auf Quantität punktuell darunter die Qualität. Aber wirklich Jammern auf hohem Niveau. Das Einzige, was mich echt gewurmt hat: WLAN ist trotz gegenteiliger Aussage nicht überall und dauerhaft in der Anlage verfügbar. Angekommen zeigt Handy Netzeerk an. Habe deshalb die mobilen Daten leider nicht ausgeschaltet. 24 Stunden später habe ich eine SMS, dass ich 59 € für mobile Daten im Auskand auf der Rechnung habe. Nach 3 Beschwerden und 3 Tagen wurde und ein neues Zimmer mit WIFI zugewiesen

I enjoyed it very much. I did do an upgrade to be on the level side but was very disappointed. There was nothing leveled about the room at all. I wish it was more accommodating. I would come back here for sure but i do believe it need somewhat of an upgrade on the level side. More amenities in the bathroom and the room itself as well. As a Cape Verdean myself I had a great time but the staff could be more gentle with everyone aside from where they came from. They were nicer after knowing I came from the US. Overall I enjoyed the resort and my time here.

I travelled with my family (my wife and 2 yound children) and we enjoyed almost every single moment of our stay. The resort is in very good condition with a lot of things for people of all ages to do. My only 2 gripes are: 1. None of the kids pools are heated and so in very windy weather all the pools were freezing cold and the kids couldn't swim. 2. Our rooms weren't cleaned one day (despite leaving the correct notice on the door) and coming back from a long day of exploration/touring with 2 kids to a room with no clean towels and bins still filled with rubbish was very exasperating for us. Fortunately we were able to get clean towels that night but had to wait for another 12 hours before the rooms were cleaned. Other than those 2, it was a truly wonderful experience for us. The staff are very friendly people and the "No Stress" motto of Cape Verde is reflected thoroughly at this resort. It's an amazing place with no stress at all. Special shoutout to the minders at the kids club...they are truly amazing people. Our kids are still raving about the day spent there. Kudos to the entire resort team. P.s. If you can, book the island tour with Jack Sparrow at the beach.

Ho passato una "vacanza" da incubo!! a parte le piscine e tutti i divertimenti per i bambini il resto è da buttare. Tante cose che non funzionavano a partire dalla chiave già appena arrivati...telefono luci telecomando....provo a riassumere tutte le cose orribili che ci son successe....gli appartamenti sono grandi e spaziosi ma le camere da letto veramente piccole. Abbiamo trovato due bagni uno con doccia e l'altro con vasca e questo è stato buono. Non sono riuscito a dormire una sola notte perché mi svegliavo sempre tutto bagnato nonostante il condizionatore acceso tutta la notte. Io penso che copri materasso cuscino e lenzuola non erano di qualità in modo da permettere l'assorbimento e l'evaporazione dei liquidi corporei prodotto durante il sonno. Il "cibo"....mio dio...la parte peggiore!! a parte la cena della vigilia di capodanno...faceva veramente SCHIFO!!! questo resort da un punto di vista del cibo può andar bene solo agli inglesi...senza offesa per gli inglesi :) fanno pasta pizza ma io in vita mia non ho mai mangiato una schifezza del genere...ed ho girato il mondo e provato di tutto!!! Se devo dare un giudizio...è un super resort per FAMIGLIA dei paesi nordici :) io non ci tornerei neppure se mi pagassero!! altro nota dolente...dopo aver pagato 2500 euro per 9 notti avrei dovuto anche pagare 20 euro per l'accesso alla spa!! senza parole. aaa dimenticavo...appena arrivati il frigo bar completamente VUOTO..neppure una bottiglietta d'acqua!!! so pazzi!!!

Trattandosi di un hotel a 5 stelle avevo aspettative completamente diverse. Prima di tutto siamo stati vittima di una serie di disguidi: alle due di notte (orario di arrivo) ci hanno dato la chiave di una camera già occupata, aprendo la porta ci è apparso un uomo in mutande visibilmente infastidito dalla nostra presenza nella sua stanza; poi ci hanno assegnato una stanza di un valore economico minore rispetto a quello pagato (abbiamo prenotato una stanza con il balcone pagando un supplemento e ci hanno dato una stanza a piano terra), e alla richiesta di cambio stanza ci hanno detto che erano già tutte occupate senza darci un indennizzo. Ma la nota peggiore rimane la scarsissima pulizia delle camere. Siamo arrivati in stanza con lo sporco a terra, sui tavoli e nei cassetti degli ospiti precedenti (peli sul pavimento, tavoli appiccicaticci, ecc...) durante il nostro soggiorno venivano tolti gli asciugamani sporchi ma non ci venivano forniti quelli puliti così da costringerci ad aspettare fino a un’ora per poterci fare la doccia non avendo nulla a disposizione per asciugarci. Assistendo alla pulizia della stanza ho potuto constatare che, sebbene decisamente grande, la stanza veniva “pulita” in dieci minuti semplicemente passando uno straccio bagnato a terra. Per quanto riguarda il mangiare, vi sono tre opzioni nel pacchetto all inclusive di cui due alla carta (di bassissima qualità) e un buffet decisamente migliore con una buona varietà di cibo. In sostanza non più di 3 stelle.

Uma experiência decepcionante
Não correspondeu às expectativas para um resort desta categoria e para o que se espera de um all inclusive. Pelo preço que pagamos para dois dias, a qualidade das refeições foi no geral muito abaixo da media, havia muita diferenciação dentro do mesmo espaco dependendo do Melia. Ou seja, não se podia utilizar este bar ou aquele restaurante sem pagar extra, não se podia utilizar determinados espacos na praia porque pertenciam a outro Melia (apesar de estarem praticamente vazios!). Outro ponto negativo foi logo ao check in nos avisarem que tinhamos de deixar um deposito de 20 euros para cada toalha de praia (somos uma familia de 4!). Foi a primeira vez que tal nos aconteceu. Em outros resorts do tipo dá-se um cartão ao cliente para serem obtidas as toalhas. Caso o mesmo nao seja devolvido no fim da estadia, é então cobrado um valor para cobrir as toalhas nao devolvidas. Já ficamos em outros resorts e esta foi sem duvida a nossa pior experiencia, considerando o que pagamos. Sinceramente não voltaremos considerar o Melia para futuras estadias. Como pontos positivos destacamos a simpatia do staff e o quart/ apartamento que nos foi dado.

IKKE et femstjerners hotel
Fordi dette hotellet ble markedsført som et 5-stjerners hotel hadde jeg store forventninger. De ble ikke innfridd. Rommet var OK - men langt fra femstjerners. BAdet var ganskje kjipt, neppe mer enn 3-stjerners standard, trangt og for lite plass. Manglet helt comfort. Bare en kjip plastflaske på veggen med kombinert sjampo/badesåpe. Ingen komfort-artikler. En lyspøre var gått på badet og ble ikke skiftet. Mangelfull supplerign av håndklær. På 5 stjerner SKAL det være badekåper. Det var det ikke her. Det var tre restauranter som serverte frokost/lunsj/middag. Bare en av disse holdt standarden. Hotellet hadde ikke noe skikkelig svømmebasseng. Alle bassengene var plaskebasseng for unger, og uten svømme-dybde. Den mest populære baren var ofte underbemannet, og servicen var langsom. En samlet vurdering er at det man kunne forvente av et femstjerners hotel overhode ikke ble imøtekommet her. En klar skuffelse.

Good variety of foods to suite all taste, rooms very clean, staff very polite and friendly. Evening entertainment good on most days. The shuttle bus provided by the hotel for drop off to Santa Maria town I think should have more drop off times rather than just the 3 in the mornings

Positives... Excellent for families with kids all the way to 18years. Safe for kids. Kids have fun all day with the daily activities. Huge resort with about 8 big swimming pools full of activities all day long. The buffet is good, various choices of food but lack of beef meat on the buffet. Negatives... The room cleanliness is not good. I had to complain to get it to the standard I expect. Restaurants for dinner needs more staffing. We waited on average 1h:20m for the main course. Lastly, I know the island is prone to have flies/insects but the restaurants need to do more to keep flies and other insects/pets away. Overall I really enjoyed my stay and recommend to anyone with or without kids that wants to relax and enjoy. No Stress 😄

Family of 4 Americans travel
We got a 2 bedroom suite, with a living room, 2 bathrooms and kitchen. The suite was nice sized with the living area big enough for all of us. The grounds were well kept with nice pools throughout the resort. This is a huge resort. We had no problems getting beach chairs each day. We got their early and left late, I appreciate the resort letting us check-in and use the property when we got there and after we checked out. We didn't get our room early and we couldn't keep it late but we got to stay and enjoy the property and they had complementary changing rooms we used to shower before we left. Our biggest complaint was the food, there were lot's of options but the quality of the food often wasn't great, I was disappointed with most of the meals in most cases. We only stayed two nights because we spent time on some of the other islands in Cabo Verde, we would strongly recommend travel to the other islands as they don't have the mass tourism that Sal has.

Good swimming pools with a bar attached to each was nice. Food in the buffet restaurant was always decent and varied enough. However, the staff seemed to operate on conflicting "rules" and often presented contradictory information or half-information. For example, it was next to impossible to exchange pool towels for fresh ones from one day to the next (they offered us new ones finally on the day of our departure...); the two restaurants that required booking went half empty every night because the booking option ended every day at 4 p.m. but nobody had announced it to us on arrival -- when we finally found out about that rule, we were told everything was booked for the next two days. So, we had a good time with the weather and the water, and the bar service.

We had ordered a king size in the family size room. We get there and check in and pay. They take us to our room which wad nice. It took us a min but we where like this isnt a king and check our reservation from expedia and it said king in the family style room which was way in the back of the venu.So we went back to front deck and asked about the size confustion. They said oh it doesnt come with a king. Instead of them saying that. We had to fuss and fight with the supervisor for an hour or longer before he gave us the manager which we kept asking for. Finally got the manager after my husband chased him down outside and he fixed everthing that the supervisor should have done in first place. If they knew they were wrong. By not telling us the room didnt come with the king and if we woulndnt mind taking the queen size bed instead. We would have avoided all that time wasted.

Great Stay at Dunas!
Dunas is a wonderful resort conveniently located about 5min drive to the heart of Santa Maria. The staff are incredibly friendly and attentive (and gorgeous)! The only concern I had during my stay is that my in-room wifi service was very spotty, which was quite frustrating. Overall, the facilities, amenities and service was great. I would visit again!
