We recently stayed in the carriage house and wanted to share feedback, especially as this is a newer listing. The location is beautiful- right on the lake and close to the beach, and the space itself is very clean and well done. The owners were also kind and introduced themselves upon arrival.The main issue for us was noise. Because the carriage house is connected to the main home, sound carries very easily. We could hear nearly everything as if it were in our space. Most notably, we were not able to sleep in any mornings, as we were consistently woken up by noise from the main house, including crying children, a barking dog, the opening of garages directly beneath us, and other normal morning activity. There was also a morning when an ear-piercing smoke alarm went off for about 10 minutes due to main house activity.At around 1,000 per night, we expected a quieter, more private experience. Compared to the cost of renting the full home (2,200 per night) the value felt off given the level of noise.We also found it inconvenient not having a thermostat in the unit and needed to download an app, especially after a very cold first night. Parking was tight with other cars in driveway. Hairdryer was missing. Due to the shared HVAC system, cooking odors from the main house transferred into the carriage house.Overall, the property has great potential, but the noise made it feel overpriced for the experience. We share this with hopes to improve future stays.
