We had an excellent and relaxing stay in the very well appointed vineyard home. The drive in and out took some getting used to with the narrow lanes amongst the vines, but you couldn’t ask for a more idyllic and quiet place to relax. The wine they produce there is great too!

Beautiful house and vineyards

The house is very well decorated and kitchen is well equipped with all the spices and utensils for cooking. The view of the surrounding wineries is extraordinary. We love our stay and can’t wait to come back for another trip. Thanks Phillipa and Susanna for a warm welcome and hospitality.

The property was beautiful. Somehow even more wonderful than the pictures. The host helped us arrange for a chef to make dinner which was spectacular. Be careful of using the Google Maps link for directions from the VRBO website. It took us off-roading through fields and over very rocky conditions. While the last three miles of the drive is on a single lane road, it is paved so know that if the directions tell you to go on a gravel road-stop and reassess.

We loved our stay here at Quinta de Macedos. The photos do not do the views justice! The sun sets over the vineyards which continue as far as the eye can see - absolutely stunning. The hosts were wonderful: great communicators and very carying. Philippa kindly helped us navigate the road up to the house late at night and helped facilitate a delicious dinner at the villa one night with cordon bleu chef Nicola (who is also a professional tennis coach!). Our wine tasting and tour with Paul was excellent - he was really engaging with our kids who had a lot of questions! The pool is keep clean each day and we enjoyed the dip each afternoon. The roads can be a little challenging - but worth it!We'd love to return! Thank you!

beautiful home and setting

We loved the villa and the surrounding vineyard setting! It was a difficult drive up without signage around the villa and would recommend arriving during daylight. But the drive was worth it!!

Gorgeous setting! Beautiful home and wonderful hosts. The wine tour by Paul was amazing. Philippa and Paul were very communicative and accommodating ! Only one comment- this is very beautiful and very remote. Closest supermarket 40 min away and the long and winding single lane roads to the home may be very intimidating to some. Should not drive these roads after dark. But for us it was worth it.

Couldn’t be more perfect.

We had the most amazing time, the house is perfect , every room en-suite, lost of social areas both indoors and out so plenty of space for a big group but also very intimate for fewer people as the decor is so nice. The views are amazing, you are in the real heart of the Douro, the road there is narrow and windy but we managed no problem at all in our suv. The winery is a top end boutique producer and the wines are fabulous. Woul d also recommend the cook service as it was excellent. Can’t speak more highly , philippa was so helpful and accommodating and it was nothing less than a perfect stay. Would highly recommend and will definitely be back for a longer visit.

Amazing Quinta surrounded by beautiful vineyards

This property was so fantastic, I stayed there with 7 other adults and there would have easily been room for 2+ more. The house was clean, great facilities, comfortable beds, towels, everything we could have asked for. We were able to explore the Douro valley and also spend time by the pools and walking around the properties vineyards. We went in September which was a wonderful time as different Quinta’s we’re starting to harvest. The house has a lovely vineyard and you can see hills and hills of vineyards as far as the eye can see. We would happily come back again!

Breathtaking views

Philippa was over the top helpful and responsive. She assisted with directions, restaurant and activity recommendations and COVID testing. The house was spacious, clean, well equipped and very easy to live in. The property is lovely. The pool, gardens and seating areas are beautiful and inviting. The views are breathtaking. Would highly recommend if you are looking for a peaceful vacation spot among the vineyards in the picturesque Douro valley to enjoy with family or friends. Thanks Philippa!

Wonderful stay at the heart of the Douro

Amazing experience in a wonderful property, fully equipped and with an easy communication with all the Quinta dos Macedos team. Philippa and Paul were extremely attentive and kind enough to show us around the winery and the property. The house has everything needed for a perfect stay. Only comment to be made on our side is to bear in mind that the access can be tricky but once you get used to the narrow roads, it is fine. We want to thank everyone in the Quinta for this week, everyone in our group (7 people in total) was pleased with the stay and hope to come back.
