You really do need to see the pictures!
Your first floor private entrance hall is stunning with its grand piano and stained glass chandeliers. You have exclusive use of the refined living room and dining rooms, and a choice of a variety of outdoor eating and lounging areas, on both your private covered porches and a very large brick fairytale gardened courtyard. Casey Affleck particularly loved the courtyard when he visited with his location manager to consider this home for shooting scenes for his upcoming movie. They commented that the courtyard was quintessential Savannah!
The second floor has three large, somewhat lavish bedrooms suites, each with their own baths.
-The North Suite has a four poster queen bed and an ensuite bathroom with a six showerhead shower, and a look which will stun you!
-The Queens Quarters has both its own rich brocade sofa and two arm chairs, a king size amazingly comfortable bed and its own private balcony seating area. Your private bathroom is immediately across the hall from your bedroom door.
-The Kings Suite is elegant and comfortable with its own large ensuite bath with Jacuzzi soaking tub and its own private balcony seating area.
There are laundry facilities and a very minimal kitchenette, suitable for only very light meal prep, on the same floor as the bedrooms. Paper plates and cups are provided, however there are sets of fine bone-china, hand embossed with 22 k gold and Thai brass and rosewood flatware in both the little kitchenette and the grand dining room downstairs. The truly dazzling chandelier over the dining room table is made of Waterford Crystal. If you`d like to use the china, do not wash any dishes, the caretaker will wash them for you after you checkout. You can eat in the formal dining room downstairs, in your bedrooms, (but not on the beds even though there are no dining tables in the bedrooms), on the private 2nd floor covered balconies, on the shared 1st floor balcony or on the outdoor dining tables in the brick-floored courtyard. The balconies are accessed through the floor-to ceiling windows as was the custom in the 1800`s in this area.
Out of every window from every room you see huge Spanish moss covered oaks.
The neighborhood is part of the historical overlay district, literally across the street from the Victorian district, a few blocks from famous Forsyth Park. It is in both the artsy upcoming Starland neighborhood and the Historic Streetcar/Thomas Square neighborhood. It is in a part of downtown that is in the process of being gentrified, meaning there are mansions amidst houses still being renovated. It`s where the younger locals live, eat and play.
Guests share that they are delighted with the beauty and good taste reflected in the lavish period furnishings and exquisite originate art of this historic grand house.
The rooms in the pictures are all for your private use. There is a small separate apartment in the back for the full time caretaker. required by local code because of the zoning and licensing. The host is usually on duty as the caretaker. He is a little hard of hearing so reach out to him if you need anything by messaging on this ap. There are no common or shared spaces or entrances. You won`t see or hear the caretaker unless you message him for something you need to be more comfortable.
Most guests prefer privacy so you won’t see or hear the caretaker unless you need him. Please message through the airbnb ap.because he is hard of hearing.
You can walk to a variety of fantastic restaurants frequented more by the locals than out of town tourists. It is 3 blocks from Bull Street near Forsyth Park, which is the best most interesting street to walk to to River Street. The neighborhood is young, vibrant and artsy; it’s safe enough where you see single women out walking their dogs, neighbors gathering on their front porches, and local people going about their lives. It is different from the more touristy areas, but a easy walk to anywhere you would want to sightsee, or for those who prefer less walking, there is a free shuttle [see link to it in the last photo in `all photos`} two blocks away, plentiful Ubers, and free easy street parking.
There are ecurity camera by the front and back doors and gates. This is a very private space being on a corner lot and having no common or shared spaces or entryways.
This grand and refined space has only a kitchenette. Use only one of the following at a time. Cook top, toaster/convection oven, microwave, keureg coffee maker with k-cups provided, coffee maker with filters for those who prefer their own brand of coffee. You’ll need to message the caretaker to reset the kitchette breaker if you forget and overload the kitchenette circuit by running too many appliances at the same time.
The middle upstairs bathroom has a tub and shower that may be dangerous for a large person or anyone with balance issues because the surface area to stand on is very small. There’s a safety grab bar that should be held going in and out of the very small tub. Many prefer to use the walk in shower with safety seat off the north bedroom.
