Melbury is an elegant, handcrafted hut near Shaftesbury, close to the well-known Gold Hill in Dorset. It’s a peaceful place for two, with a private jacuzzi bath overlooking the fishing lake and quiet meadows around the hut full of wildlife. The hut has underfloor heating and a log burner to keep you cosy, plus a BBQ and a spacious decking area where you can unwind, enjoy al fresco dining and even watch the sunset. There are also walking and cycling paths that lead into Shaftesbury, so you can explore the town as much or as little as you like.

Step inside this charming shepherd’s hut to find an open plan living space featuring a fully equipped kitchenette, a cosy wood burning stove, a comfortable king-size bed with a smart TV above and underfloor heating perfect for cosying up on chilly evenings making this hut an ideal getaway at any time of the year.

Outside is where the magic continues. You can truly switch off and enjoy everything Melbury has to offer. There is a spacious decking area overlooking the fishing lake, where you can try your hand at fishing, relax in the jacuzzi or soak up the sun on a luxury sunbed during the warmer months.

Melbury also features a private island with a BBQ perfect for cooking and dining outdoors, surrounded by trees and the sounds of wildlife – your only neighbours.

The hut is perfectly located for exploring the historic town of Shaftesbury with breathtaking views of the surrounding countryside. There are plenty of attractions and local shops to discover, from traditional pubs and restaurants to quaint local stores.

For longer stays, Melbury also makes a great base for exploring more of Dorset. Spend time wandering around or head to the coast to visit places such as Durdle Door, Lulworth Cove or Weymouth. It’s just as suited to days out exploring as it is to slower days spent switching off and enjoying the peaceful setting around the hut.

Fans of the classic 1970s Hovis advert will almost certainly recognise the iconic Gold Hill, just a 30 minute walk from Melbury Hut.

Two dogs are welcome for an additional charge of £20 per stay
A starter pack of logs, firefighters and kindling are provided. Additional logs can be purchased on site for an additional charge of £10.
There is an outdoor shed where you can store wellies, coasts, fishing equipment, etc.
Fishing is permitted. Please bring your own safety and fishing equipment. The lake is stocked with carp.
Exterior security cameras – this only monitors the vehicles and people coming in and out of the driveway entrance.
