  • Mole Cottage is een heerlijk huisje met rieten dak dat zorgvuldig gemoderniseerd is om een ​​hoge standaard van accommodatie te bieden. Het vakantiehuis is gebouwd in 1927 en ligt op een schilderachtige locatie. Het biedt een panoramisch uitzicht op zee vanuit de hoofdaccommodatie.

    Het dorp Luccombe is omgeven door kilometers National Trust-land, met uitzicht op het Engelse Kanaal, gedeeltelijk tussen de steden Shanklin en Ventnor, beide erg populair bij toeristen en op slechts 5 tot 10 minuten rijden.

    Terwijl Mole Cottage ligt in een idyllische landelijke omgeving afgelegen en "buiten de gebaande paden" de stad Shanklin, een van de bekendste badplaatsen van het eiland, ligt op slechts 5 - 10 minuten rijden. High street winkels en een supermarkt bezetten het centrum en aan de zuidkant van de High Street is het oude dorp, bestaande uit een pittoreske groep van rieten huisjes, met verschillende winkels, pubs en theetuinen. De stad en het strand worden van elkaar gescheiden door een klif en terwijl de weg en de trottoirs behoorlijk steil zijn bij de nadering van het strand, voor degenen die zich niet energiek of bekwaam voelen, is er een lift beschikbaar langs het klifpad dat je naar het centrum van The Esplanade brengt met zijn kinderactiviteitencentrum, amusement, ijs- en snackkiosken, midgetgolf en natuurlijk cafés, pubs en restaurants.

    5 tot 10 minuten naar het westen is de stad Ventnor met zijn Victoriaanse architectuur, fijn kiezelstrand, een esplanade met cafes, amusement ijs kiosken en twee familie cafes aan beide zijden. Kustwandelingen in beide richtingen laten bezoekers genieten van het uitzicht op de ruige kustlijn,

    Bezienswaardigheden in de buurt zijn onder andere het Isle of Wight Coastal Visitors Centre, St. Boniface Church, het plaatselijke natuurreservaat Rew Down en St. Boniface Down, het hoogste punt op het Isle of Wight en ook waar het Radarstation van Ventnor ligt. Het kustpad van Isle of Wight is een 105 kilometer lang pad langs het eiland, dat de kustlijn zo dicht mogelijk volgt.

    Entertainment, sport en recreatie zijn gevarieerd en omvatten cricketvelden en cricketacademie, golfbaan, pitch & putt-banen, tennisbanen en een verscheidenheid aan kinderspeelplaatsen. De botanische tuinen zijn een must en geweldig voor bezoekers van alle leeftijden.

Another perfect break

This was our fourth stay at Mole Cottage. There’s probably no need to read further given that… We find the cottage to be a comfortable home from home, with added badgers, foxes and red squirrels. It’s far enough from the rest of the world to be tranquil, but close enough to not feel isolated. There is no doubt that we will stay again

Lovely days at Mole Cottage

Mole cottage was great, lovely views, comfy rooms, well equipped kitchen and plenty of room to move around in. We were fascinated with the badgers each evening, and enjoyed a few afternoons sitting in the garden overlooking the sea. Had a really lovely, relaxing time there and would happily visit again.

A lovely Spacious Property in a Quiet Location

A lovely spacious property which is modernised and has all the necessary facilities. We stayed in March and fed the badgers and fox which came to the patio. In a quiet location with views to the sea. Would definitely stay again if in the area.

We loved the cottage. It suited all our party.. 5 of us, 3 generations and my husband is disabled. The bedroom/bathroom arrangements suited us. Every night we were visited by the badgers. We picked some of the blackberries in the garden. We loved the views. We enjoyed the food at The Village Inn (the seafood platter really good value); Blueberries cafe for breakfast. Really enjoyed a fish finger sandwich at off the rails in Yarmouth (enough for 2 people) Lunch at Bay watch at the Duver was also good. We hope to stay again one day.

Wonderful cottage

The cottage was very clean and comfortable. The kitchen had everything we needed. Large garden which was well maintained. The kids loved it. We were left a bag of nuts to feed a badger which comes every evening at dusk without fail ! This was a nice bonus for the kids . Would stay again

Peaceful getaway

A lovely old cottage peaceful and quiet with lovely views…The side garden is especially secluded and quiet, On the negative side parking is not great, The cleaners don’t clean under the furniture or bathroom cabinets as I found out when I dropped something which rolled under Ugh !. But on the whole a lovely place to unwind and enjoy the badgers.

Slightly disappointed

Mole Cottage was in an ideal location with stunning sea views though slightly spoilt by the overgrown bushes in the garden which did spoil the view to the sea from certain positions in the house & no comfortable outside furniture in the garden as 80 years olds the wooden table with attached stools was not ideal to sit on so ended up inside.

Couldn’t fault this property !! We have stayed in many holiday cottages and this was by far the best , even great garden furniture in the garage !! Comfortable , clean and everything you could possibly need . This was definitely a home not just a holiday let . Badgers and fox visited every night !! Omg what a treat that was !

A delightful Cottage

Mole Cottage is like home from home. It has everything you could possibly need. The Cottage has amazing views and is private and quiet. Shanklin is the next village to Luccombe so amenities are close by. Having the badgers visit each evening is a real bonus too. The coastal walk is close so if you like walking then Mole Cottage is ideality situated. We had the need to call the maintenance team who dealt with our issue extremely promptly. We would certainly recommend this cottage.

Our stay at Mole cottage

Mole cottage is in a beautiful & peaceful location. The accommodation is very clean, spacious & comfortable with spectacular views to the sea. There are plenty of indoor entertainment activities available - books, games, puzzles etc if the weather is inclement. (However we didn’t need these) All of the facilities were clean & tidy & kitchen equipment easy to use. The added attraction was the evening visits in the back garden by a family of badgers who feasted on peanuts which we put out for them. On one occasion we saw a fox!

We had another wonderful stay at Mole cottage, the weather was not the best we have had on the Isle land but as you turn the corner at the top of the hill and see the cottage the smile returns and the sun shines no matter what the weather. the cottage is well looked after and has every thing you need, just to sit in the garden and look at the views or watch the wild life from butterflies and bees to birds and badgers its just so peaceful.At night its just a short walk to the local pubs followed by a walk through the chine, or sit and watch the ships passing while you star gaze. The worst part of staying at Mole cottage is the leaving to go home

Home away from home with extras

Wonderful cottage. The views are amazing. The gardens are large and beautifully maintained. The cottage itself contains everything you could want for a holiday. The standard of decor and furnishings is very high. All the rooms are large and decorated again to a high luxurious standard. There are a vast amount of board games, books, dvd’s etc. There are large tv’s and I think a game console (we never watched tv so I am guessing the box was a games console). The icing on the cake for us was watching the wildlife at night. The badgers came every evening for food on the patio. I recommend you take bird nuts with you as they are real entertainment at night. The fox came and joined them a couple of nights. This is a really marvellous place to stay. I could easily have spent the whole week just in the cottage.

Easter holidays at Mole Cottage (Shanklin, Isle of Wight)

Mole Cottage is in a fantastic location in Luccombe, 10/15 minutes walk from Shanklin old town. If you walk back to the cottage from Shanklin it is up hill, which is not a problem if you are fit and healthy, but do take this into consideration. The cottage is situated on a private road, so it was always very quiet, both night and day; there's parking for 2 cars just outside of the property. Being at the top of a hill meant that you are rewarded with a fantastic view out to sea from the lovely garden at the back and side of the property. It's great to watch some of the Channel Island ferries, cargo ships and tankers go by. It's also excellent for star gazing on a clear night. We were also very lucky to be visited by badgers each night, which was amazing to see! We loved watching them feast on the peanuts left out for them each night, right by the patio doors! The cottage was very well equipped to make our stay a very comfortable home from home experience. The layout worked very well for 4 adults and 2 children. The children could sleep in the large upstairs bedroom, whilst you could remain talking in the living room without disturbing them. We loved our stay at Mole Cottage and it made our visit to The Isle of Wight a very memorable one and would happily stay here again!

Excellent Stay

Lovely cottage and bags of room. Badgers are a great experience, too. Bathrooms have great shower pressure and kitchen has every gadget and serving dish you would need. Warm and cosy cottage and very quiet. Thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Parking for two large cars, too.

this was our fourth stay at mole cottage and it was just perfect and the new showers are wonderful; We had the most wonderful weather all week even if the weather turns wet or windy there is still things to do which is why we just love the island. The cottage is just a short walk from Shanklin with its shops,tea rooms and pubs also there is a theatre an d the chine is a must best seen at night. at night we sat in the garden watching the ships out at sea and the moon on the sea was very romantic then we had the joy of the badgers [3 of them ] coming for the peanut which we put out every night.It really is a most wonderful cottage to visit well presented and spotlessly clean so we have book for next year again.

A beautiful cottage in a wonderful location, stunning views and we chose a heatwave week to go, who could ask for more.The badgers were a source of entertainment every evening, sometimes three of them, they love peanuts apples and plums. We had a wonderful time and will definately come to mole cottage again
