It was filthy dog hair everywhere too. Pillow cases too small to cover pillows. Poor service from Vacasa too. Don't stay here.

Perfect location. Plenty of parking and outdoor space. Nice bathrooms and plenty of towels. Big dining room table for 8. WIFI worked great. No dvd’s or board games. Kitchen was spacious. Mice droppings in every bottom cabinet. Plenty of dishes, pits and pans and silverware. No pot holders. No scissors. No dishwasher and not supplied a sponge. Beds were comfy, glad I brought my own pillows and blankets. The pillows there were not fresh and clean smelling. Comforters need refreshing or replacing. Enjoyed the firewood stove, bring your own wood. Heater works great, but the heat doesn’t travel upstairs. It got very cold, again glad I brought blankets. The living room furniture is grubby to say the least. It really should be updated. One of the swivel rocking chairs is so worn down you feel like you’ll fall backwards. I used a couple blankets I found in the bedroom closet, and draped it over the furniture. It made it more comfortable to sit on. Please replace the front welcome mat. It’s torn to shreds. Would I stay there again? Yes. It was not a horrible experience. It’s a basic cabin. I want to feel like I’m at a cabin and not a modern home. We were comfortable enough and enjoyed our stay. These are suggestions and an honest review for those interested in staying here. Thank you for having us!

Redwood Haven House- Very Rundown and Old
This cabin is very old and run down. The living room furniture is worn and dirty, I would not want to sit on it, TV did not work for half the stay and after several calls was finally replaced but since there is no cable there were no stations to watch. Bobby the property manager was helpful and very responsive and did what he could but the week he was on vacation nothing was addressed. This house needs major repairs and improvements.

Arrived to the house on Thursday evening. 42 degrees inside, propane tank was empty so no heat or hot water all weekend. Had to buy a lot of firewood to make it bareable. Vacasa told us we would get an emergency fill so we could have heat and hot water…… now Sunday morning checking out, still no heat or hot water. Terrible company, wont ever rent from them again

The place could multiple upgrades. Stairs are very dangerous. Needs better fans no AC NO TV
Was very disappointed on the place. Place needs better furniture and needs better access to A television. No one uses DVD. Could use some TLC. . Place gets very hot no great fans to ventilate the place. Horrible accommodations.

It was perfect for us!
Our family of 5 and two sets of grandparents just enjoyed 5 days at this perfect cabin in the snow. There was plenty of space for everyone and we enjoyed big meals at the dining room table, looking at the backyard full of snow. Our dog came, too and had a great time. The stairs upstairs are very steep so there was some anxiety with our 5 year old and our dog couldn’t get up them and there wasn’t enough paper towels/toilet paper/garbage bags provided but the store was a nice 5 min walk away.

Holiday Get away
Things i liked: Location was great. Close to town and nearby shops. Place was clean and had more than enough cooking utensils for our stay. Met our needs for the holiday stay. Things I was disappointed in : TV is too small & should be a smart TV. It advertised a blue ray DVD, however had no DVDs there to watch - had to bring ur own. No board games, cards, etc.. Couldn''t watch regular TV. Should have at least an Antenna. No filters for coffee maker, small container of dish soap for us although we advised we were staying for 5 days- Thanksgiving. No dishwasher- so should have extra soap being we have to do more dishes for the holiday.,Microwave handle broken. 4/5 blinds missing on lower part. People could see in at night. We fixed that for next guess by replacing/ rearranging missing blinds in middle. No porch light to see outside front entrance- good thing we had a flashlight. All and all.. ok place.

Had a great time!!Overall cabin was pretty clean except floors probably needs a good mopping. One burner not working on stove top. Living room furniture/beds could be updated .Beds caved in the middle so we didnt sleep well. Even with the bed issues I'd stay here again.

Get what you pay for
The cabin was reasonably priced. It looks like the actual owner rarely stays—total mish mash of pots and pans. Who needs 5 large frying pans? More than a dozen very large glasses, three plastic small glasses. One burner doesn’t work as another reviewer stated. Upstairs bedroom is freezing in the winter—needs a space heater as many other reviews stated. Vacasa, the property mgt co., is the worst, most unresponsive I’ve ever dealt with, will NEVER use them again.

Great Trip in the Sierras
My husband and I stayed at this cabin for 4 nights. It is in a nice location (and quiet part of the neighborhood) especially if you want to spend most of your time at the lake or walk to the local pizza place and a couple of small bars. We prefer to hike so we did end up driving 30-40 minutes to most of the trails we wanted to explore (highly recommend Twin Lakes and George Lake!). This is obviously not the cabin's fault - just a heads up to hikers. The cabin could have been cleaner, but I do admit we have high standards. The floors need a good mopping, the rafters need dusted, and (some) trash needs to be cleared from the yard and under the deck. But the sheets and towels were clean and there wasn't a lot of dusty clutter like some cabins we've stayed in. We weren't sure what to do with our trash and recycling (could not find this in the check-out instructions), so we took it to the dumpsters at the end of the street. The cabin could easily and comfortably sleep 9 people. There are two bathrooms, a large kitchen table, and two tables with chairs on the deck, so it would be a great cabin for a larger party, especially for the reasonable price. The kitchen had everything I needed to cook and the washer/dryer were great for our dirty hiking clothes. We had a great trip in the Sierras! We'll hopefully be back soon and we'll certainly look into a Vacasa rental.

Great location
The location of this property was our main reason for booking it. It’s maybe 1/4-1/2 mile from the lake and very close to all the local shops, restaurants, gas station, ect.. It’s in the East Village neighborhood. The house met our needs and is dog friendly just generally outdated though. There were 3 families and a dog. 6 adults, a 12yr old, 3yr old and two babies. We stayed for 5nights/6days. The beds were all very hard and the linen and general decor seemed very old but didn’t have high expectations going in. The bathrooms (only thing) look like they have been recently remodeled so that was nice. Some amenities could be updated which would add a lot more value and desire to the property such as all the kitchen appliances and utensils. Everything worked (except one burner on the stove and the freezer not being cold enough) but are very outdated. There were plenty of plates, bowls and cups but the silverware was all mismatched and sparse compared to how many dishes there were. I’d recommend bringing plastic utensils and paper plates to avoid a bunch of dishes. Also, bring your own dish soap, paper towels, aluminum foil, and ziplock bags, ect. The house has wood floors, there was a broom but no dust pan so that seemed odd. Washer and dryer was a huge plus. The washer seemed ancient but worked but the dryer was a bit newer. I probably sound harsh but once you see all this for yourself you’ll understand what I mean. There is a propane grill provided but when we arrived the tank was empty and the grill was very dirty, just a heads up. I don’t think they cleaners or anyone cleans the grill besides the guests using it and that seems like most of them don’t. It took a few different back and forth phone calls before we finally got a new tank but eventually it was replaced free of charge to us. Despite being given some misinformation a couple times everyone I talked to on the phone was very nice, polite and helpful. Overall, this house met our needs and I would recommend it to anyone looking for an ideal location to stay. Just don’t expect anything newer but I guess that gives you more of the camping feel.

2nd time renting this house
We rented the house again because of the location, and the ample amount of parking. We didn’t realize the owners no longer had cable. I was disappointed that the mattress upstairs had not been replaced since It is old and sags in the middle. I would still recommend this house to anyone traveling to Shaver Lake.

Everything was nice. Cook top needs to be serviced or upgraded. Took over an hour to boil water to make a potato salad. Cook top heat very uneven way to hot not hot. Fire place had a fan but it did not work all heat was going through the flu. No wood provided felt it was a waste of heat at 8 dollars a box x 10 for wood. But what would a cabin be retreat be without a fire.

Good place to stay during cooler months
Overall we had a very nice stay. The house is located a short 5 minute walk to stores, bars, restaurants. The rooms are decent size and beds adequately comfortable. There is a decent size deck with outdoor tables and BBQ. If you plan on watching tv, you better have excellent vision... The tv is about the size of a computer screen and there is no cable. The appliances are very old, but Still work. The main thing I would caution potential renters during the warm months is that there is No AC and NO ceiling fans, so it will be fairly miserable. The rental cost is fair, especially since it can sleep up to 10 fairly comfortably.

Dog friendly house was great, but bring a space heater if visiting in winter.
The only reason I can't give 5 stars is because one of the bedrooms in the house was essentially not usable due to cold. We tried to sleep in the upstairs bedroom the first night, but it was too cold and we couldn't sleep in it the second night. We luckily brought an air mattress with us and used that in the living room. If we had known that there was no heat in that bedroom (we tried looking for vents and couldn't find any) we would have brought a space heater or extra warm blankets. Overall, the house is great for a group of people and being able to bring your dogs was an additional bonus. Being able to walk around in the neighborhood and quickly into town was great! We would definitely visit again, but bring our space heater and extra blankets with us if we visit in the winter.

We really enjoyed our time in this dog-friendly home at Shaver Lake. We shared the cabin with relatives and enjoyed the clean, well-equipped cabin. Lots of snow but clear enough that we spent time walking through the neighborhood and town. We all agreed that we'd love to come back again.

I would recommend that you install a larger TV in the main living and put the existing unit in the upstairs for other guests. The reception was poor due to a bad connection with the cable cord. Convenient yet quite peaceful.
We appreciated the easy access flat parking, and proximity to town and lake. The door locking system worked great, no fear of lost key. The fire was enjoyable and we cooked all our own meals for the week enjoying the well stocked kitchen (we added a can opener that worked, and were glad we brought plastic forks cus there were only 3 small and 3 large forks and 2 butter knives) and the extra large dining table and chairs were great. We had room to eat and still have room for a puzzle at the other end. The 3 king beds are nice size but very hard. Some critter, not sure what, knew how to open the trash lids outside and make a mess multiple nights. But overall we had a great week in Shaver at Redwood Haven.

Comfortable & Roomy !
The Inside of this cabin is very nice with remodeled bathrooms and two downstairs bedrooms with king size beds. The stairs to the upstairs are pretty steep and coming down takes extra care. The kitchen was well equipped and we felt very much at home. The wrap around deck is nice and provides space for your own chairs. The yard needs some love but the cabin met our families needs and we will go back.

Spacious cabin in a great location!
This was the perfect getaway for us and the dogs. The cabin is on a quiet little street just a short walk from town where it was very convenient to get supplies and there is a choice of several restaurants. The lake was beautiful with all sorts of little coves and beaches for swimming and fishing. We also took a short drive to Dinkey Creek and hiked around a little bit. The cabin was very comfortable and too big really for just the two of us. Next time we'll have to bring the whole family! Highly recommended rental:)

Was welcomed by the warm home upon arrival in the winter. Nice gift bag on counter with extra roll of paper towels, playing cards and dishwasher pods (but no dishwasher!). House layout was good for two families with kids. Kids enjoyed the upstairs to themselves. Was definitely colder in upstairs bedroom even with heat on downstairs, but having a space heater was nice. Bathrooms were nicely redone, kitchen was well stocked (except would have been nice to have some salt), and plenty of towels. Laundry was nice as we were able to do one load, even had a few pods of laundry detergent. Nothing fancy but actually was great for us! Forgot a hair dryer as I’m used to hotels having one - looked but couldn’t find one available. Close, walking distance to stores and the few restaurants. Loved watching the snow fall from living room. Would definitely stay again. Early check-in and late checkout were nice options but we didn’t need them.
