Gansey Cottage - a cottage that sleeps 3 guests in 2 bedrooms

  • Situated in the heart of the seaside town of Sheringham, on the unspoilt coastline of Norfolk, is this traditional fisherman's cottage. Gansey cottage is ideally located overlooking the sea just a few steps from the beach and promenade and within easy reach of all the amenities. The cottage boasts a modern, light interior full of character to include a wood burning stove in the lounge, a Traditional steep Norfolk winder staircase to the two bedroom and a small rear courtyard.Ground floor: Open the front into the Lounge: with wood burning stove, reclining sofa and chair, TV with FREE SAT. An open hallway leads to an open plan Kitchen/Diner: with electric oven, electric hob, microwave oven and fridge with freezer compartment, dining table and three chairs. The back door leads to an enclosed courtyard with seating and rear access to the promenade and sea front. Off the hallway is a door to a downstairs Family Bathroom which includes a bath, walk in shower cubicle, WC, pedestal hand basin. Off the hallway is also a Traditional Norfolk winder steep staircase leading to an upstairs small landing and the bedrooms.
    First floor: Main bedroom: with King-size bed and TV. Second bedroom: with Queen sized bed.
    Please note: Wi-Fi is available in this cottage and it is recommended that only children over the age of 12 years are suited to this property. Outside to the front of the cottage is a small, enclosed area with table and chairs to enjoy the morning sunshine overlooking Lifeboat Plain.Please note that the information on this page is intended as a guide only. Great Location

A well appointed cottage. Great location and quiet. Easy to access all amenities on foot in Sheringham. Comfortable and warm cottage which was well equipped and nicely decorated.A very comfortable bed and plenty of hot water. As we only stayed for 4 days getting up at 8am to feed the meter was a chore but fortunately the car park was right behind the cottage.

Short break

Had a 4 day break in this lovely little cottage within yards of the sea. Although small the cottage had all the facilities you could need and surprisingly large bedrooms.

Our 5th stay.

Our 5th stay in Gansey Cottage. The location is perfect for the shops. Sheringham is also the perfect starting point for coastal walks to Cromer or Weybourne. Cley, Blakeney, Wells & Holt are only a short drive or bus journey away. Perfect.

Lovely cottage location was exceptional. The courtyard is an added bonus and was a sun trap. Car park just behind cottage was a bonus . Definitely will return.

Gansey Cottage - a comfortable cottage by the sea

We have stayed at Gansey Cottage several times as we find it a lovely, comfortable cottage so close to the sea and all amenities. Not only is it in a perfect location for walks, shops, restaurants, etc but just a short drive through the beautiful Norfolk countryside can take you to so many different locations. The cottage is well equipped and snug and warm in the Winter. It’s a joy to stay there.

A lovely little cottage perfectly placed for a great stay.

This lovely little cottage has everything needed for a comfortable stay and is perfect for three. Cosy, warm and welcoming. The courtyard opening out onto the carpark is handy. Although it is surrounded by pubs the area was really quiet by early evening (October)

Great location, lovely cottage

The cottage was very well presented & clean. It was comfortable & had everything we needed for our stay. The back courtyard was a bonus, a bit of a suntrap to sit in. The welcome gift was a nice touch too. The location was perfect, with the beach & town being so close which we loved. We had a very enjoyable week!

Fourth stay in Gansey Cottage.

Gansey Cottage is perfectly located near to the High Street with shops & restaurants. The cottage is near the beach, perfect for coastal walks to Cromer or Weyborne. The heritage Poppy Steam Train line to Holt is well worth a ride. Or take a more modern train ride to Norwich.

Lovely cottage in great location

This was our first stay at Gansey Cottage, and what a gem it is! A fisherman's cottage, a stone's throw from The Crown pub (our 'local' when we're in Sheringham) and the sea wall. So convenient! It was lovely listening to the sea and being able to sit outside the cottage, where there is a table & chairs both front and back. The cottage is cosy and had everything we needed. The bed was comfortable so made for a good nights sleep. The public car park is directly behind the cottage, so again, super convenient, and you can buy a weekly ticket which is good value. Already booked up for a second stay and cannot wait!

Superb accommodation

Gansey Cottage is a cosy little cottage almost on the sea front with car parking adjacent should you wish to use it with a great benefit of using the 7 day ticket it works out as relatively cheap parking. The cottage is cosy yet with plenty of space for 3 people. It is well furnished and well decorated and has everything you would need in terms of facilities (cooking, cleaning etc). The narrow staircase would make it unsuitable for some although that is pointed out on the property description. It is close to all amenities and there are lots of places to eat nearby. Overall a very good place to stay and I would highly recommend it.

First stay at Gansey Cottage

The location is wonderful - right by the sea and close to shops, pubs and restaurants. The lack of parking space is no worry as there is a paying car park next door but we found free parking a 10 minute walk away without any trouble. The cottage is relatively spacious and well set out although we prefer to have an upstairs bathroom although that is only a minor point. Our main issue was that we had to complain about the disgusting state of the back yard as it was filthy and spider ridden and had not been cleaned in a very long time. To be fair to Keys and the owner, once we brought it to their attention, it was sorted very quickly. It was just a pity that this hadn't been attended to before we arrived.

Fishermans cottage

The location and site of the fishermans cottage could not have been situated in a better position 20 yards from the sea, car park near by to front and back doors Being a disable driver I had a blue badge and parked overnight for the whole week at a very good premium, . The cottage brought back memories of my aunties cottage in land and the lay-out was almost identical. The surrounding are was magnificant THANKYOU .

Great location!

Absolutely loved our stay at Gansey Cottage. The cottage was cosy & very comfortable. The location is ideal right near the sea as well. If you have a car there is a car park just behind the cottage but there is free on street parking elsewhere. We were extremely comfortable in Gansey Cottage, and loved the welcome gift of a bottle of wine & biscuits! From the main bedroom, you get the sea view, and there are binoculars for you to use. There are also beach chairs in the storage box outside, even though it was October it was warm enough for us to use them on the beach. Would definitely return!

A good find

We booked this cottage quite late and so pleased with our choice. The position of the cottage was superb close to seafront, pub bus routes and shops. Inside the cottage was very cosy with wood left to build a fire in the log burner, leather reclining chairs a kitchen with everything needed off the kitchen a lovely private area to sit out. We used the buses to go to Wells next to sea, Cromer and Blakeney which was a lovely change from driving. The bottle of wine left for us was a lovely gesture much appreciated. Would certainly recommend

Fabulous Cottage in a prime location

Our stay at Gansey cottage was perfect and the website pictures didn’t do it justice. This cottage has everything you will need for your stay, the owners have thought of everything, from binoculars, folding chairs to take to the beach, torches on the bedroom door, and many more really thoughtful touches. The kitchen is fully equipped with quality appliances and lunch or dinner in the little sun trap patio garden at the back was delightful. The bathroom is modern with a bath and separate fabulous shower. The location is beside the Crown pub and a minutes walk to beach. What more could you ask for
