Quick Sonoma Trip
We spent 2 days in Sonoma before a business trip in San Francisco. Great, secluded location with guest house completely separate from main house. Would recommend.

Perfect
If you're looking for serenity during your stay to the Sonoma Valley, this is the perfect place. It is a cozy guest house over a garage that is clean and in a beautiful setting. The pictures do not do it justice. Don't let the fact there is not a stove detour you. There is a microwave and a toaster oven and with the fantastic places to eat nearby, there is no reason to cook anyway! We had a great time and appreciate the owners sharing their little slice of heaven.

property and location are EXCELLENT. i found the internet speeds limiting, which is not an issue unless you are a TECH-NO-GEEK. i myself prefer THE ANOLOG!! kitchen could benefit from some dark colored towels.

Lovely hilside 'mother-in-law'
A beautiful and tranquil setting amongst the oaks on a Sonoma hillside. We enjoyed the quiet with only a coyote or two yapping in the distance at night and bird song in the morning. Far enough out of town for solitude, yet close enough to be on the Sonoma town square in a few minutes.

Sonoma cottage
Pleasant experience. We enjoyed the privacy not being in a hotel and found the place cozy and comfortable. It rained most of our stay or we could have enjoyed a little more of the scenery. It was nice to see the deer and wild turkeys. Quick drive to the Sonoma square, 45 minutes to the Santa Rosa airport and about an hour and fifteen minutes to San Fancisco. Definitely recommend.

My wife and I stayed at JP's place and couldn't have been more pleased with our stay. Privacy, cleanliness and the most relaxing stay we ever could have had. I highly recommend this as a hub to visit all the wineries in Sonoma, Napa and Healdsburg. Five stars!

Beautiful cottage in the hills
I liked the place quite a bit. It is a beautiful lot with oaks and deer roaming around. The place itself is very clean and comfortable. It is a bit of a drive to town so getting morning coffee could be a 15 minute drive. I assume this also is not meant to be a place to cook in, since there is no stove and just a small fridge. But who comes to Sonoma to cook anyway. Overall a great place and a good deal for its price. Communication was seamless.

The property is beautiful. The cottage itself is fabulous. Great location. Private and quiet, yet close to Sonoma Town Square and many wineries. We will definitely stay here again. No reason to look elsewhere.

The area of the house is amazing, quiet and serene, and definitely worth visiting. The property owner was very communicative and gave us some good ideas on places to visit while we were in the area. We were very happy with our experience.

Sonoma Hilltop Paradise
The property sits in a private/gated community 15 minutes from Sonoma proper. It is a separate guest house with a view of the valley and hospitality was top notch, thank you. I highly recommend it for a Sonoma private pool, nature (wild turkeys and deer), all the things one would get in a hotel.

Great place and wonderful setting
Completely wonderful. Quiet and away from town and noise. Nestled in the countryside with stunning views of the valley. I woke up to deer and wild turkey in the yard every morning. Very private and comfortable place. Our host (John) was very accommodating and nice. If I ever go back to Sonoma, I will stay there again.

Quiet getaway
The cottage was very nice and nestled in large oak trees in a very quiet and secluded area. It was a perfect place to stay after a day of wine tasting and enjoying the area. It’s very close to Sonoma plaza where we found great restaurants and wine tasting. The owners were very welcoming!

Wonderful location! Beautiful views on secluded property.
Guest house fully furnished. Property on a former ranch with houses spread out on winding road. Hardly any cars so great for morning walks. Luxurious towels for shower and pool. Kitchen area a bit cramped, but grill, toaster oven and microwave, plus frig, allowed for some cooking. Could use a table/chairs outdoors just for the use of guests, though not sure where it could be put conveniently. On the whole a wonderful getaway spot, close to town of Sonoma. Owners are gracious hosts!

Cottage under the oaks
Fantastic place to spend vacation. Peaceful, tranquil, yet close enough to downtown of Sonoma to have some activity closer by. No hidden catches like eg. a busy road next to the property, not shown in the pictures. The only remark I could make was that the pool-area (the reason we chose this place) was a bit neglected; dirty furniture, broken umbrella, children's inflatables hanging around, and while not in use, owner would cover the pool to keep chemicals from evaporating. Consequence was that water couldn't warm up in the sun. So, we couldn't enjoy the pool fully.

Beautiful, Secluded Property
We really enjoyed the Cottage in the Oaks. We were pretty busy during our trip, so we didn't get to spend too much time at the cottage, but we enjoyed every minute that we did get to spend there. This property is truly special. It's up in the hills, and there are beautiful trees and tons of deer all around. We did not get to enjoy the pool as it was too cold, but the pool area looked like a lovely area to hang out. Downtown Sonoma is about 15 minutes away, so it's not TOO secluded. Thank you for providing a great place for us to call home during our visit.

Four days of heaven
This is a beautiful, tranquil and rejuvenating spot in the hills of the Sonoma wine country. The cottage isn’t overly luxurious, but it is cozy, comfortable, and thoughtfully outfitted with everything you might need. The heated pool is private and pristinely clean, with nothing but great views all around. I advise that you arrive during the daytime, as the dark twisty roads may be tough to navigate at night, but once you orient yourself during daylight hours you’ll have no trouble getting around or taking the short drive to town. If you are looking for a beautiful location with a private pool, this is it. A note to older or more arthritic travelers: the living area of the cottage is located above a garage, so there are stairs: four or five deep stairs up to the outside door and a flight inside, so if stairs are a problem this might not be for you.

Quiet place in Sonoma
Nice and clean. Just as pictured. A few miles out of Sonoma in the foot hills. Very quite. Nice view from the pool area. We did not use the pool, however it looked like it would be nice. The question we had about the Internet was addressed immediately. It was great fun watching the deer grazing near the yard.

Adequate Property
We stayed in the Cottage in the Oaks and found the stay to be comfortable and well positioned. The cottage is maybe a 10 minute drive or so to Sonoma square so that's nice and close there; the cottage is actually space above the garage which has been finished off at the owners home. The cottage is in a gated community that is very quiet and very dark at night. The owners were very responsive on initial booking and throughout as needed. The cottage itself was reasonably comfortable however could use some updating; personally we would have liked to see some window coverings (especially in the bathroom) and perhaps an exhaust fan in the bathroom. The property overlooks the city and has a great view. We didnt use the pool as the weather was a bit cold for that, and we also found the hot tub was locked so likely not included for renters usage which was a bummer. The only thing we didnt care for was that the owners were working on the place while we were trying to relax. We sat near the pool to watch the sunset and the owner was apparently building something or repairing something as there were power saws being run for a few nights, hammers pounding and it sounded like a construction zone while we were sitting near the pool trying to just relax.....I think the owners should avoid doing that stuff when you have people renting there. I see mostly 5-star reviews and I honestly believe this is people just being nice. Personally I only give a place 5 stars if it went above and beyond in everything. This property is comfortable, the owners were responsive, but it is not a 5-star property at all. I would rate it as an average stay assuming the construction zone was an anomaly; if that's the regular then I'd vote it even less as it was a bit distracting from the beauty of the area.

Hello Adam We always appreciate reviews. However a three star gives us concern. I find it a little hard to believe that you criticized others for your stay when they clearly gave it the star rating they felt it deserved. As far as the bathroom goes - there is no way anyone that can see in and the nice window does work instead of a fan. But it is something that we can look into. We apologize for the noise during your stay. Most folks are not there between 10-5 p.m. as they are off sightseeing in the wine county. There was some damage to the side of the house that needed a repair job before these 5 days of rain we are now having. We do not advertise the hot tub as it is not part of the rental but private to the homeowners. Sandy

Amazing Stay

A Cottage In The Woods
We had a wonderful weekend stay at the cottage. It was so quiet and peaceful day and night. We enjoyed seeing deer and other wildlife in the near by fields as we drove onto the property. The layout of the cottage was perfect. The living room was comfy and had a nice selection of books, magazines and maps. There was a kitchenette that was fully stocked with silverware, plates and cups. Instant hot water worked great for brewing tea in the morning and a coffee pot was available if needed. The bedroom was just right and had an attached bathroom with a basket of travel size shampoos and soaps. It should be noted that the cottage is above a garage. If you have a problem using stairs, you may want to reconsider this cottage. We loved everything about the cottage and the property. It was just far enough out of town to feel like we were in the middle of nowhere but close enough (5 minute drive) to easily drive in for dinner and evening strolls. This is a great home base for wine tasting in Napa and Russian River; both a short 30 minute drive away.
