Solid Choice
This hotel is a solid choice for a short stay in Burlington, where hotel room rates are relatively high. The room is decent, the staff friendly. Breakfast is very simple.

The hotel smelled like dogs and old cheese. They charged $600/night during eclipse. Their special gift for paying so much and the eclipse happening, was a bottle of water in a paper bag. Not impressed at all.

What you get for the price is value that can't be beat! Service was great, breakfast was awesome, room was clean, bed was comfy, and nice to have the extra space with separate bedroom compared to typical hotel rooms. The only thing to note is the recurring theme from other negative reviews regarding the odor. Yes, there is the typical engrained smell of smoke, pets, etc. that I have learned to expect in most older sub 3-star hotels, so I don't think it's fair to fault management when everything else was top notch.

We had a suite for a family of 5 and it was very nice and roomy with a full kitchen. Nice location. Free breakfast. Staff is very nice and helpful.

In my opinion, Travelocity should send somebody to check a place before making it available to customers. The whole place was dirty, people are allowed dogs but they do not pick up the dog’s poop. The breakfast was very poor, there no fresh fruit available and the breakfast room was really dirty.

Poor Cleanliness
The service was great, very friendly and attentive. However that was where the good ends. The worst part is we paid over $300 for one night and the cleanliness was terrible. The towles, the sheets, and the furniture all had horrible stains. We also selected a non smoking room and there had clearly been smoking in the room previously due to the smell and burn marks on the carpet. The bed was somewhat comfortable, good enough for one night. I was very disappointed considering the price we paid.

The room we stayed in was big and spacious but the cleaners left the garbage full. We realized it is a pet friendly hotel but that’s what you could smell as well. There was a dog barking from 1:00am until around 3:00am. The breakfast was very good with many options and all the team members were nice and helpful.

This is a 2 star hotel, at best, the hallway carpet smells extremely bad! The hotel allows smoking (at least the room and bed smelled like smoke) and pets so the hallway smells like dogs. Not worth the savings!

The suite was very spacious and some areas had recently been updated. Some items, such as the fridge, were still old. The room had a slight musty smell as guests probably didn't open the windows. Restaurants were nearby too. The complimentary breakfast was a lovely bonus. Overall very happy.

We can’t rate any other categories because we didn’t actually get to stay at Smart Suites. We got a phone call about 2/3 through our drive from Maine from someone saying “something was wrong with our room” and we couldn’t stay there. The truth was they were most likely overbooked and we were the last to arrive. They put us is a room at the Holiday Inn Express which was not a suite like we had booked. There were bugs on the bathroom floor, no pull out sleeper sofa, no kitchen and overall a dumpy appearance. I am asking Smart Suites to refund our night stay that we did not get.

From hallways to room, unpleasant smells abundant. Our 1st room with a pull out couch reeked of stale cigarettes. The walls, rug, and furniture were stained and filthy. Bedding was at least new and clean looking. We were accommodated with another room, that smelled better than the 1st, but had the smell of old fried grease. The furniture in here was in even worse condition. As the rest of rooms and local area were booked we took our losses and got some febreese fabric spray to make the space somewhat breathable. For 300+ a night this was a terrible experience and although the staff were kind the rooms we experienced were disgusting, outdated, and very dissapointing..

The kitchenette area was very dirty. The stove was partially disassembled. There were bugs, dirt and debris on the top of the refrigerator which was just a touch above my eye level at 5’5ft. The bedroom/bathroom area of the room was cleanish but not good. The beds were comfortable and clean. The common areas were clean and the staff were very nice and helpful. The breakfast and coffee was also good. We arrived late after a 14hr drive and did not have plans of spending much time in our room so I didn’t ask for assistance as we just wanted to go to sleep.
