The location was great and the home itself was nice. Loved the backyard and the view from it, and the gas fireplace. However, the communication was second to worst I've ever had with VRBO property owners. Check-in/access information to the property was never updated on the app at all. The day of arrival, I messaged the owner asking about it, and she said we will get the access info "once it is clean from the guests checking out". That's it.
I messaged her saying we were arriving about 10 minutes before check-in. Still no update. 8 minutes after check-in, I let her know I'm going to knock since there was a truck in the driveway (other tenant upstairs). He never answered the door. At this point, we need to use the restroom, we are tired from traveling and the morning, and we have two dogs in the car. 30 minutes after check-in (I screenshotted timestamps), we still haven't heard a single thing. The owner does not have a contact number posted, so all I can do is message her in the VRBO app. I call VRBO customer service and after several strings of being put on hold, the VRBO rep contacted the owner. She finally let us in and emailed us the access information about 40 minutes after. To me, the lack of communication is unprofessional and unacceptable, especially to weary travelers paying for a place to stay.
Two other items of note: 1) There are urine stains in the carpet from dogs. They did a pretty good job at cleaning the place up regardless and it wasn't smelly or anything, but you could see them. That might just be a casualty of allowing dogs at the place. 2) We tried showering in the morning and could not turn it on. The faucet felt old, but didn't do much when we turned it or pulled it. We asked her about it early in the morning, but of course, she didn't respond until AFTER check out time. Zero help - so we didn't even get to shower.
I would never come back here, and would advise anyone to stay away. It seems like my experience was far from the only one like this, reading through other comments.
