Ruime strand en privé-leven in een resort

Deck House is gelegen aan de onderste westkant van hetzelfde terrein als onze lijst 396.719 en 450.166 met VRBO. De toegang is via openslaande deuren die uitkomt op een eigen prive patio. Bij binnenkomst in het appartement van de keuken is volledig uitgerust met een fornuis en een koelkast en een queen size bed om slechts 2 gasten. Als je blik op zee, deze vrij uitzicht op de zuidelijke oever laat je in "ontzag". Als je verlangen naar vrede, rust en ruimte bent u aan het einde van uw zoekopdracht komen. Deze omgekeerde airconditioning unit heeft een aparte badkamer met douche. Wasserette op het terrein die uw vakantie perfect maakt. Dit resort beschikt over de beste restaurants en een belangrijke busroute voor het gemak op de top van "de heuvel" allemaal op loopafstand. Ja, je eigen prive-strand te genieten - Crossbay Beach op slechts een steenworp afstand.

It's the view!!
We loved staying here for everything! The only thing is if you are old you may not stay here for the rock climbing. The beach cannot be accepted by elderly (it gets terrific views!) and going to the bus line is too uphilled.

Awesome time
Our favorite place! Second time here. Lorna is absolutely amazing. Love her, love our “deckhouse”, the views are incredible, the short walk to the beach cove and beach is gorgeous . Location is very convenient for the island. Bermuda and it’s people are awesome.

Cozy, private beach getaway
Overall our stay was fine, but our arrival orientation was not the best. Although Lorna and Greg were on the premises most of the time we were there, and were very friendly, it took a couple of days and asking some questions to get all the information we needed (how to get hot water in the shower, etc.) We found out there was an information booklet in the nightstand.The unit is clean and modern, but small- basically the bed, one nightstand only, and a dresser and kitchen area. There is really no room for a table or desk. We found a small folding wooden table in the closet and brought in lawn chairs to use when eating indoors. No fresh eggs, fruit or vegetables, but maybe we misunderstood the listing. The private beach is lovely with all sorts of beach equipment available for us to carry down and use there. The first day we carried chairs down the hill, then the second day we were told there were chairs at the beach for our use. The washer and dryer were easily accessible and full sized. Walking to restaurants, a little liquor/grocery store, and the bus stop were all easy to do once up the hilly driveway to the road.

The most beautiful gem on all of Bermuda
Every part of our stay at Gemstones with Lorna was better than we could have dreamed. The Deck House was extremely clean and well cared for. The bed was new and very very comfortable. The Deck House had everything you would need to make a meal or reheat (pots, pans, kettle, coffee maker, paper towel, microwave). The towels that Lorna provided were incredibly soft. There is not a lot of surface area to place things on around the Deck House, so we set up the two little dinner tables that Lorna had provided as some additional counter space for sunglasses, hats, etc. The view was breathtaking. There are 3 bbqs on site so you never have to worry about not being able to grill up your food. The stove also worked wonderfully, and boiled water very fast. Beach chairs and an umbrella are also provided by Lorna so you’ll have everything you need for the most beautiful beach on the property. Lorna is also a wealth of knowledge about the country and the best sites to see. We had a lot of fun taking the bus around the island. It’s super easy to use and a great way to meet people. If you have difficulty with your mobility, you should be aware that the driveway down to Gemstones is very steep. So if you are walking, it can be a bit of a challenge to get up the driveway. Just keep this in mind. We highly highly recommend staying with Lorna.

DECK HOUSE IS THE BEST!
My older daughter and her friend stayed one week at the Deck House while the rest of the family stayed upstairs at The Gemstones. Both were AMAZING places to stay. The owners made us feel right at home. Everything was clean and in working order. The owners, Greg and Lorna, even accommodated a request for early check in. We arranged transportation with ease with Sylvia, their transportation service, and she and her other drivers (especially Kevin) were always on time and courteous. Our favorite moments included Crossbay Beach which is a mere 2-minute walk from the property. We loved being able to go out there to snorkel, swim, and just enjoy the beautiful views. We snorkeled right off the beach and saw a huge family of 10 parrot fish. We also had a boat charter to snorkel but this beat it by far! We also enjoyed sunsets at the lighthouse and walks/jogs on the Railway Trail, both 10 minutes from the property. This is mostly shaded and if you go west towards Dockyard, you will have AMAZING views of the north shore. We had an amazing day trip to Blue Hole park. We hiked in the preserve, saw amazing caves, swam and jumped off rocks at Blue Hole park, and swam at Walsingham cave (well only 2 of our group of 6 were brave enough to swim in the cave waters). We ended the day with lunch at the Swizzle Inn, just a 5 minute walk up the road. We also jumped off cliffs at Admiralty Park. This is the BEST VRBO we have ever rented. Don't think twice!

Perfect Location
Easy access to numerous beaches including a walk to Horseshoe Bay. Many times we had the beach to ourselves and great views of the Atlantic. We rented a moped as transportation was spotty via taxi as many times they were not available quickly. The bed was comfortable the kitchen had everything needed for us to cook breakfast, and the air-conditioning worked great. Lorna was great and always available if something came up. When we come back to Bermuda we wouldn't hesitate to stay here again.

Still Perfect
For more details, you can search back to my August 3rd, 2019 review, so I will keep this brief. Lorna & Greg are still the best hosts, this is still the best rental ever, and the location is still perfect! My wife and I have wanted to return since our initial stay, and we didn't even consider looking into any other accommodations on the island, which I think says a lot! How can you improve on perfection? Thanks Lorna & Greg. We'll definitely see you again! Oh, and readers should ignore the tip in my previous review about cutting through the Fairmont Southampton as a shortcut to Horseshoe Bay at least until the resort is up and running again. The gate at the end is chained shut for the time being. Makes the walk a bit longer, but it's definitely still worth it.
