'This is one review I promised myself I would definitely write. This lodge is all renovated. Staff is amazing. Paulina is the best!! Very “natural” setting. Easy 7 minute walk to Karatu, which was a big plus. Just a wonderful setting with all the services

'We had a great stay at lilac hideaway but the thing that stood out most are the way they stepped up to help guests with travel plans
We rented a dud 4x4 and it would not start after we checked in - but Eli jumped in an d organized mechanics to come and then drove with us to take the car to the mechanics once they had gotten a new battery in. The car had no brake or transmission fluids and an corroded alternator wire - Eli stayed at the mechanic while we got some food next door

The bathroom was an issue as the toilet, sink and shower were all in the same place, so that if someone had a shower, the whole floor would get wet. 'The staff went out of their way to make us feel welcome. The buffet style breakfast and dinner was excellent. They sent us off with a packed lunch so we can maximise our time in the National Park we visited. The accommodation was top class and well worth the money.'

The team at Karatu really were special who did out of their way to provide for us when there were issues, and when the first room seemed to have issues (shower drainage, bee hive on the roof, urine smell) they quickly changed the room to a better closer room, and always were helpful in arranging or finding different solutions for transportation issues etc. The place is located 2 hours from Arusha, and around 30 mins from the main gate for Ngorongoro crater....

'It was excellent. The grounds are beautiful. The the food is superb. The room is large it had two king size bed and a fireplace a sitting area. we stayed at this Four Season in the Serengeti. this was comparable for a lot less money. I would stay here again. In fact, we extended our stay one day just to enjoy the service and the food. It is definitely a jewel.'

A portion of the money from your stay goes to the children's home located next to the hotel, which you are able to visit while staying there. The area and view around the hotel are beautiful, however there is a bumpy uphill road to reach the hotel. The dining room is a beautiful space as well and we had a wonderful meal there! '

We were the only guests one of the two nights and received exceptional service. The meals were great with serving sizes so large we were never able to finish.
