Good friendly hotel on a budget
If you are on a budget and don't need perfection, this hotel is great to book. The food was good to excellent, the room was clean and spacious and the personel of Dover Beach Hotel is very friendly. They upgraded our room free of charge to Oceanview because of our honeymoon, and the overall experience is to make you feel very welcome. Every Tuesdaynight there's free Rumpunch for guests, they assist with transportation and activities and everyone I spoke was friendly and polite. On the downside, a housekeeper broke our souvenir without notice or excuse, and not everything on the menu was always available, although the offered alternatives were very good as well. And the entrance to the public beach is crowded with vendors trying to sell you stuff. Be aware of them and ignore if possible. It is actually a downside of Barbados in general. Clean towels and sheets were always available, the water is drinkable (not very tasty, but fine for brushing your teeth) and the prices in the bar and restaurant were very reasonable. A convenient store is very nearby if you like to cook something for yourself. So if you don't need to settle for perfection go to Dover Beach. I would recommend to not take an all-inclusive deal when going to Barbados because the local foods are very good and clean. For a budget hotel, this is a very friendly place to go and feel comfortable.

Ik heb genoten van mijn verblijf in Dover Beach Hotel. Het personeel is voorkomend en vriendelijk, het is er rustig en heel schoon. ik kwam er helemaal tot rust. Het uitzicht op zee en het strand aan het hotel zijn geweldig.

A typical 3 star hotel. The front desk staff are very lovely, friendly and welcoming. I was disappointed that there was no coffee machine in the room because that’s standard at all hotels. We had to buy our own coffee at the convenient store down the street. We asked for small packets of cream and sugar from the restaurant at the hotel but they refused to give us any unless we purchased a coffee from them. The water from the shower head was spilling over the glass door and making a puddle in our washroom on the first day but the staff quickly jumped on it and fixed this immediately. It’s a good hotel if you’re looking for something more affordable while travelling. The location is perfect and in the lively st. Lawrence gap area. Very touristy and the locals are very kind and friendly. We never felt uncomfortable even when we were walking around in the dark at night.

The staff were really personable, kind and professional. The rooms were clean and correct. The common areas are not in perfect condition, but that was a fair trade-off for the price. In total it was a pleasant stay without the cost of luxury resort prices.

I am not sure exactly what you were looking for in your room as our rooms come with with shampoo and body soap. Commodities which are found in most hotel rooms. We have brochure sstands with the various tours and excursions and our staff would have been happy to assist you.We do apologize if you found that our team members were not friendly as they usually go beyond the call of duty to assist our customers. Perhaps you may want to message me to point out the particular departmentThe beach do change from day to day especially around Easter. We have no control over this. Sometime it is calm and other times it can be rough. Customer Service needs upgrading!! My spouse and I arrived at the hotel 10 minutes before check-in time. We were met with a dry impersonal attitude of "your room is not ready yet". We waited another 40 mins before we were informed that the room was ready. There was no explanation, no genuine apology and the "thank you for your patience" sounded automated. At breakfast, the fruits were stale and almost spoilt. When I informed the waitress she took away the slices of watermelon and carried them in her hand. Expecting a replacement, none came. Neither an apology. At the end of breakfast, we asked if we would be receiving a replacement or alternative (since we were paying the same amount), Miss waitress rolled her eyes, pouted her mouth and asked reluctantly "what would you like to have?". Really?? Dover beach you need to do better than that. From the front desk to the "restaurant" at the back of the hotel, customer service is a stranger. Training in hospitality is needed or get better staff!

If you like walking to a coffee shop every morning and trying out great restaurants then this is a good location. The hotel itself is quite tired but kept clean. Our room was facing the ocean and you can't manufacture that view. It is spectacular. The kitchenette is very limiting. You could pull of a simple breakfast with cereal/toast and a cold lunch. There is NO OVEN and the stove has to be lit with a match. One day our fridge turned off so we had to through out some juice. When we got there we had to ask for a coffee maker. We ended up not using it because the Cake Lady was a short walk away and they makes great cappuccinos. The bed was no uncomfortable but lacked in sheeting and blankets. The textiles we shabby and need to be replaced. In a pinch I would stay there again but only for a short time. ( 3 days)

Additionally, you can request a toaster oven, a coffee maker and blankets. Our beds are made with a defender. 2 sheets and a coverlet. We think that is adequate coverage .With our position near to the sea we are forced to have a continuous maintenance program as the sea air can have a devastating effect on the building. My wife and I had a great 3 day stay at Dover Beach Hotel. Our room was clean and spacious. There is a beautiful pool on site. The beach was very nice!! Lots of options for dining within walking distance. We are recommending Dover Beach Hotel to my wife's sister whom will be coming to Barbados in April.

All staff were very friendly and took care of any requests / issues immediately. The hotel and room are was very clean. Room was quiet but somewhat dated. I’d say this is typical for a 3* property. Within walking distance of the restaurants in St Lawrence Gap, however the better choices are about 1.5km away. Right on the beach with beach chairs on hand. Would recommend if you’re looking for an affordable stay.

The most important asset of this hotel is the people working there. The people working at the front desk, the SeaGrape restaurant, the general laborers around the hotel were all friendly and very helpful. When we had problems trying to get transportation or use the bus system the ladies at the front desk were more than happy to help us resolve our issues. No matter the problem someone was looking out for us and made us feel safe and that makes us more likely to come back to this hotel in the future. Perhaps this hotel is not the Ritz, but the people give it character and a homey feeling that the large hotels cannot. What else can I say?

Good location, close to airport and Oisins by car/bus and walkable to Gap and Worthing. Enough around for a few days. Bit dated condition in some areas, eg shower leaked continually (annoying at night), as did the aircon (although the later they fixed quickly). Weak shower pressure. Rooms have zero sound proofing and hotel attracts big groups - eg uni students, sports teams. Rooms don't have black out curtains, so between the sun and roosters, not much sleep. Huge space, comfy bed, has what you need in the room. Great swimming pools, enough space, on the beach, supermarket nearby, great staff and easy to organise things.

The service was terrible. I got there and the front desk was closed. The security showed me to my room but did not offer to take ny bag up the 2 flights of stairs. Just responding to a question seemed like pulling teeth. The service sucked.

Our check in time is 4.pm and in order to have the rooms clean and ready in a timely manner we cannot allow late check out.However we have a luggage room and where possible, we provide a shared hospitality room for a late shower. In the summer, when it is not so busy we have more flexibility In order to serve our customers better, it is our intention, in the near future to have a Hospitality SuiteWe do trust that you understand the situation. This is my 2nd stay at this Hotel.It is located very well and is easy yo get to the gap and other locations.Try and get the main rooms , i was in the standard rooms .They are better.Also there is no stove in the kitchen.
