Family vacation with kids and grandkids
Setting was breathtaking. Large house with plenty of room for family including six grandchildren. House provided plenty of room to get everyone together as well as privacy for all. Always something to do which included the pool, tennis court, the pond for kyacking and fishing, hiking, the family room and dining room for eating and games. Downtown Staunton just a couple of miles away with great restaurants. Great vacation spot.

Magical weekend
Our weekend at Gaie Lea was truly a magical one. I live in Staunton so was able to tour the house and property before renting. It was beautiful seeing it on the tour, but the house really lights up when you're there with family. It is a cozy and comforting house with a perfect yard for playing games, an amazing pool, hidden sweet tennis court, and stunning old oak trees throughout the property. Our celebration of my partner and I getting married couldn't have been in a more special place or with more perfect weather. All in the family who stayed there felt the same way. I'll always be grateful and hold dear the magical memories created at Gaie Lea.

Truly magical stay
My family from 4 households, ages 4-80, all gathered at Gaie Lea for a long weekend. It could not have been more perfect! Everybody had something wonderful to do - including the 4 year old, who found a trove of toys in one of the upstairs rooms! The house is gorgeous and well appointed - with space for all of us to be together or to have a bit of quiet time. We had wonderful meals at the large dining room table (with gorgeous view!); gathered on the patio outdoors to enjoy conversation and snacks; and everybody LOVED the pool with the most gorgeous view you could ever want AND the inviting gazebo if you wanted a bit of shade by the pool. It is absolutely the perfect environment to reconnect with loved ones - with privacy for one-on-one conversations, and space for meals together. The grounds were so beautiful - and beautifully maintained. We didn't have enough time to take advantage of all the lovely features of the property and nearby things to do. We hope to be back.

This home and the land is stunning. You feel as though you have been transported somewhere else! We all had such a wonderful time. Great pool and beautiful home. We only suggest maybe some thicker blinds for those who like to sleep in- but, the property is so great you will want to wake up and enjoy the day!

Loved Everything About This House
This was our yearly family vacation—6 adults and 5 teenagers. The house is huge with plenty of room for everyone. It is so clean and well-kept. The sheets and towels smelled great!!! The grounds are beautiful. Always something to do—swimming, tennis, ping pong, shopping. Everything is close by. We found a card table in the laundry area and used that to do a puzzle while we were there. We put it in the ping pong room and everyone had something to do at night. The kitchen had everything we needed. The homeowner's love for this house is evident from the moment you walk in. We had such a great stay.

We loved Gaie Lea so much last summer we came back this summer! We comfortably had 9 people total in the house and just adored every minute of our stay. The view at the pool is spectacular and you are truly five minutes drive from downtown Staunton. Couldn’t ask for a better getaway place.

Fabulous!
We adored staying at Gaie Lea-- but we must admit we had no idea how beautiful this place was from the pictures! The pictures don't properly represent the breathtaking beauty of the property. We already booked for next summer and can't wait to return. My family of 8 practically lived in the pool for the six days we spent at Gaie Lea and wanted for nothing. Becky is very communicative and easy to reach with any questions or concerns. Highly, highly recommend.

This property is an oasis just 5 minutes away from Staunton. The views of the surrounding hills and mountains were beautiful, we even saw a shooting star. 4 generation Christmas vacation
The surrounding countryside was beautiful and peaceful. The adults and children alike enjoyed the secret staircase. When the weather was too cold to go outside, the children LOVED running around in the numerous circular pathways throughout the house. If one desires to work,, the internet will not accommodate that and the manager's repeated response to reboot the router was unsatisfactory.

Family Gathering
We had a fabulous time. It was the perfect place for the entire family to come together, have any and all amenities on site or nearby, awesome scenery, rooms galore, dining room table big enough to accommodate everyone, plenty of room for kids to burn off their energy, pond nearby, best swimming pool ever, football field size front yard, etc. We hired a professional photographer to take pictures and it was a super idea in a first class setting. All in all it could not have gone or been better.

It was a beautiful property--the pool had breathtaking views, the house was spacious and comfortable, and the lake has unreal sunsets not to be missed. We would love to be back! Given the pandemic, it would have been helpful to be given a heads up when grounds staff had to be close to the house, or they should be required to wear masks if guests are staying there. Otherwise, it was a perfect stay.

This property does not disappoint. We were looking for a get-away for two small families as our original vacation plans were cancelled due to the pandemic. If you are looking for a relaxing beautiful setting this is the place. The pool is amazing--the pictures do not do it justice. The house is well-appointed but comfortable. Our teens loved the record player and there was space for everyone to spread out, as well as enjoy group dinners and game nights. Becky and Liz were great to deal with and provided recommendations for restaurants and shopping in Staunton--big shout outs to The Book Dragon, Design @Nine and Cocoa Mill Chocolatier. The Friday night music downtown where the main road is closed down and tables are socially distanced is not to be missed. We will definitely be back!!!

Amazing house!
We stayed here in July 2019 with our 2 kids (age 3 and 5) and another family and their kids with the same age. We had never been to the area before so didn't know what to expect. This property was so amazing! The inside reminded me of a beautiful dollhouse. Each room was unique and so quaint. It was spacious so we didn't feel like we were on top of each other. We could have fit another family comfortably as well. The property really set this house apart. The house itself was beautiful. It was surrounded by rolling hills and farmland with a view of the mountains in the distance. The sunsets were amazing. We loved having the pool. It was huge and so much fun to play in. Great views all around while swimming. Same for the tennis courts. We spent a bunch of time at the lake as well, fishing and boating. Between all of the things on the property, we hardly ever left. But we did do some hikes nearby. The house is well situated to Shenandoah National Park and other national forests with a ton of hiking and scenic drives. We had such an amazing time. We are already planning when we can come back.

Gaie Lea is a wonderful property located on top of a hill overlooking a farm and the Blue Ridge Mountains. The home is well equipped and the outdoor facilities are great for families with a pool and tennis courts. Would recommend to others.

We had a fantastic trip with 8 adults and 8 kids/infants. The place is ever better than it looks in the photos with a beautiful unspoiled view all around the property, which is very relaxing. The pool and lake were particular highlights and the kitchen well stocked with utensils for cooking for big groups - would have liked an electric kettle to make tea, but maybe that is just because we are English! We would highly recommend this place.

Fantastic Experience
Our large group of young children and adults had a fantastic stay here over a long weekend. Rain or shine there is plenty of space for everyone and the views from the pool and tennis courts are exceptional. The kids had a great time fishing on the lake and successfully caught and released a few small mouth bass and catfish one afternoon. We're looking forward to our return!

Wonderful retreat!
We loved this home. It is quiet, private and filled with fun. We played tennis, swam, listened to old records and just enjoyed lounging and being with family. The home is roomy and there are many different spaces to inhabit. We loved the study and the little terrace off the kitchen. The home is very close to grocery stores and wonderful restaurants in downtown Staunton. Having the cows periodically roam around at the edge of the yard and pool was surprising, at first, but they are perfectly lovely companions. (My husband even played guitar for them and they seemed to enjoy it!) They are perfectly easy to ignore, but funny to observe. We hope to return to this quiet place in the future (and maybe invite more family). Highly recommend.

Beautiful home and setting
We could not have asked for a more beautiful location for our family gathering of 13, ages 1 to 93. We had planned to visit surrounding historical and hiking areas but were beyond content to stay on site and enjoy the pool and the grounds for our four days at Gaie Lea. We loved the vintage decor, and the connecting bedrooms were perfect for young families. Kitchen, game room, and linen closets were well-stocked and the owners and staff made check in and communication effortless. Thank you, friends at Gaie Lea, for a memorable visit.

Loved the Mountain views while relaxing at the pool. Very thoughtful owner provided just about everything we needed and a lot of extras you wouldn’t expect. The tennis court, pool and kayaks have us a lot to enjoy. Groceries close. The restaurants we found were average.

Lovely Home
We just returned from a wonderful vacation at Gai Lea. The house was perfect for our family reunion. There were 11 of us and there definitely was room for a couple more. The house was extremely comfortable and nice and it was large enough for all of us to have our own space should that be needed. The decor was fun and whimsical which enhanced the experience. The only reason I am giving this 4 stars instead of 5 is because the wifi was poor. Make sure to spend some time looking at the art work as they are done by the owner and some of her pieces are for sale.
