'The property had a few drawbacks during our 4-day stay in Scotland. While the overall experience was generally positive, there were a few areas that could use improvement: The beds were not very comfortable. They were two separate single beds pushed together rather than a proper double/queen bed. This caused the beds to shift and separate during the night, disrupting sleep. Additionally, the beds were at slightly different heights, which was awkward. Sound insulation from the ceiling was poor....

'Warm and cozy sleeping with the shutters and curtains drawn. Respect the house, switch on the pump if you light the fire, and yes I loved the wood smoke smells, it is mostly round the fire, if the fire is only embers you can switch off the pump, it's circulating the hot water from the fire, I was able to see local interests and the wonderful fresh air, excellent countryside. The ruin of Carmicheal House makes me wonder at its one time beauty, and it's just a short walk to from the cottage,...

Nice hotel and location - needs complete overhaul

"Nice location, great facilities but very outdated. The maintenance is poor. No paint left on the outside and several rooms and corridors need updating. The staff is good and do what you expect from this kind of hotel. The swiming pool is old and a bit past its glory. Peebles is a nice place to stay but needs a update urgently"

"The decorations and atmosphere were lovely and contributed to the castle experience. The drinks and the food are slightly more pricey compared to the city. The room was big and the staff was very friendly. I would totally recommend this property for an escape from the city. "
