Schuurhuis aan de kust in Zuid-IJsland - met bubbelbad

Een uniek modern schuurhuis in het kleine dorp Stokkseyri aan de zuidkust van IJsland. Het huis heeft een geweldig uitzicht op de oceaan en de lavakustlijn. Het huis is volledig uitgerust en smaakvol ingericht. Een geothermische hot tub in de buitenlucht en bedden van hoge kwaliteit zullen ook helpen om uw verblijf zo aangenaam mogelijk te maken.

Het huis ligt op slechts 45 minuten rijden van Reykjavik en is goed gelegen om veel van de bezienswaardigheden in het zuiden te verkennen.

Het huis met twee verdiepingen (105 m2) werd gebouwd in 2010. Het heeft drie slaapkamers, badkamer met douche, woonkamer met balkon en een open keuken.

De keuken is volledig uitgerust en gasten zijn van harte welkom om kruiden, olie, bloem en andere basics te gebruiken om te koken.

De buitenkant van het huis is bekleed met verweerde Siberische lariks en de binnenmuren met multiplex zonder takken. Bij de bouw van dit huis was het doel om het milieuvriendelijk te hebben, e. g. door alle gebruikte materialen zorgvuldig te selecteren. Het huis heeft geothermische vloerverwarming.

We are incredibly grateful to our host for going above and beyond during our stay. With the yellow and orange weather warnings on our first few days of the stay in Iceland, we were quite stressed and unsure of what to do—but Kristinn kindly offered us a safe and comfortable place to stay, which meant so much to us. The staff (Adam) was also on site at another property was helpful and stayed up late to help us since we arrived late on the first night. Their advice throughout was thoughtful and reassuring, helping us make the right decisions during a difficult weather situation. On top of that, the home was absolutely spotless—truly perfect for someone OCD like me who really appreciates a clean, well-maintained space!Thank you again for your kindness, generosity, and care. We couldn’t have asked for a better host and would highly recommend staying here. It is because of the host and staff, that makes Iceland extra special to us!

Not great but not horrible

The place was clean and in a good location for seeing some popular destinations. It has a beautiful ocean view from the top level. A few things we didn’t like were no microwave paired with a very small kitchen/oven. The stairs to get to the main seating level, kitchen and one bedroom were awful. Steep and not a traditional staircase. You had to step wide to have footing. If you’re not in shape or good health this could be an issue.

Luxury in remote Iceland

This unique building has very high quality furniture, bedding, and towels. Even robes are provided. The hot tub in the back yard is a highlight. Lots of windows let in the epic Icelandic landscape. When the wind pics up you feel cozy and comfortable with every convenience. There is a full sized washer AND dryer (great for families). The gas station is a 10 minute walk away and has all the basic groceries you need along with a small diner. If you are in the area, this is a great place to stay.

Fantastic Seaside Stay

We went in winter time and loved the view from the house, shelling the beach, a soak in the hot tub with kids. It was a great midpoint between Reykjavík and Vik for all of your Southern Iceland / Golden Circle adventures. Would absolutely recommend!

A fabulous property and location!!

We visited Iceland for 2 weeks and this property was our favorite! The view of the ocean from the top floor was amazing! The filled hot tub was quite enjoyable. We have stayed at VRBO's all over the world and your property was stocked with everything you could possibly need. Kudos to you for this! Highly recommend this property!!

Well designed, well appointed, quiet home on the coast

We really loved hanging out at the Barn House. Very relaxing and lovely home with comfortable beds. We loved the view from the deck upstairs, the tiny kitchen, and its excellent storage. It had everything we needed! Stokkseyri is a small, quiet village but there was plenty to explore.It served us well as a home base for day trips to Golden Circle sites, the Reykjadalur thermal river, horseback riding, and the Westman Islands. But we could've easily spent a relaxing few days just exploring the coast, playing with the neighborhood cats, and locally meandering through Stokkseyri and its neighboring towns. Intriguing museums and historic sites. The local restaurants were really good. We LOVED Fjorubordid.

Beautiful home with everything we needed

The barn house was a peaceful base camp for exploring the south coast. We enjoyed the hot tub. The beds and bedding were comfortable. The most well stocked property I have ever stayed at with cooking supplies, laundry, and bathrobes. The large window skylights, lighting, and infloor heating created a cozy place for our family to enjoy. Highly recommend!

Wonderful base for seeing Iceland

We spent a full week at the Barn House, using it as a base from which to see much of Iceland. It was fantastic. Easily accessible to Reykjavik, the Golden Circle and much of the South Coast. We even got lucky and saw the aurora borealis one night. The house is cozy, the hot tub amazing and the beds very comfortable. The kitchen is small but contains everything you need. Highly recommend.

Just perfect

My husband & I just stayed with our teen twins at the barn house. Just perfect! From the view, to the comforts, to the friendly neighbor & backyard, we’d stay again. Being able to walk along the sea, and take a hot tub dip each night, was amazing. The little village was having a community festival, and its proximity to Selfoss and the southern coast plus golden circle was great. One night, we came back after hiking and made a great lamb dinner and enjoyed the peace. And thank you to the hosts for being so great with communicating. Since coming home, we’ve already have a ton of friends ask where we stayed. Til another time!

Unique and beautifully decorated barn house!

We enjoyed the vistas (and the hot tub) from this fully stocked beach house. Note that the creative nautical-style double-step staircase is treacherous for anyone with limited mobility and makes hauling suitcases upstairs a bit of a challenge. The European oven also features a dishwasher (!) but no microwave.It is a great location for exploring the south coast of Iceland.

Lovely getaway.

Lovely property by the sea, beautiful vista. Just as described. Would not take young children or elderly due to steepness of internal staircase but perfect for our family. Lovely, peaceful and relaxing and the geothermal hot tub was fabulous. Information provided by the hosts was also very helpful.

, the amenities and the location. Comfortable modern design with a toasty oceanside hot tub. Easy drive north to sites or east to Vik. Definitely walk down to the lobster house for dinner, go hungry so you can finish the 3 course dinner. Definitely won’t forget this part of our vacation!

Fantastic views of the ocean, the stars and the Northern lights!!!!

Upon arrival at the Barn House, we were blown away by the uniqueness, the attention to detail, the interior design and the place overall. We loved the setup, enjoyed looking up at the stars while soaking in the hot tub, waking up to the views of the ocean and the heated floors were such a treat! Centrally located between Reykavik, The Golden Circle and the black sand beaches in Vik on the southern coast. It truly was a magical trip and Kristinn was really great and responsive when we thought we left a phone at the house after departing! Thank you Iceland for the beautiful memories that we will all carry with us for a lifetime! Would highly recommend staying at this one of a kind property!!

Perfect Stay in Iceland

My family of four enjoyed our stay in Stokkseyri. The home is wonderfully inviting and located right on the coast of a lovely and quiet village. The beds were very comfortable and the house was relaxing and cozy. The hot tub was perfect to relax after long days of exploring the country. The town of Selfoss is only a 15 min drive away with a few grocery stores, nice restaurants, shopping, and a cool food hall. Overall a perfect stay for us.
